Chapter 35 Harmless Joke

I TOOK big steps to get out of the bar and to get a taxi. Unfortunately, there was no vehicle passing by. I glanced down at my wristwatch only to find out how long I had been wasting my time here. I sighed and looked upon the sky full of regrets.

The sky was tar-black, and the clouds were gloomy. “No, not now please . . .” I murmured.

The wind rose up, and the tinkling sounds came to my ears as the first pearl of the rain dropped onto the floor.

I looked around for shelter. I saw the waiting shed across the street, but it was already full of people. The rain was incessant. The wind whipped up into a frenzy, and it’s shrinking the hell out of me.

I don’t have a choice but to run back to the resto-bar. I stood on the edge of the establishment, looked up at the sky, and hugged myself.

“Miss, why don’t you come in first?” the security guard woke me up.

“Thanks, but I’m fine here.” I gave him my assuring smile before looking back at the sky.
