MY HEART FIRST

CHAPTER 0NE

Ruby's POV

Everyone's staring at me looking really disappointed as I stepped into the dinning hall with their eyes fixed on me.

"What's going on ? I queried, while they all kept mute like nobody had heard me .If I had no family members present there I would have just buried myself under the ground immediately ,but wait isn't it more scary and suspicious mom is sitting across the table and so is my sister Autumn,oh wait as soon as I set my eyes on Autumn I think I realized what must have happened here ,she had seen me with Leo...Leo is the son to a family friend of ours Mr Jack Ethan and his wife Brooklyn. Aunt Brooklyn is my mom's childhood friend.

I managed to speak"Can I explain? I asked

Autumn sits back with her hands caved in waiting for me to proceed am sure in her head she feels am going to make up fake stories.

"I know we all thought he was dead and so did I " I said when I noticed Kai sitting there looking at me filled with rage."can y'all just believe me"I pleaded.

I was already confused at this point Kai getting mad at me is the last thing I want on this earth he is the only one who can defend me right now instead he seems to be filled with anger.

Before I could continue with my explanation Mr Ethan and aunt Brooklyn asked in unison , "where is he right now?" I immediately turned around when I noticed Leo wasn't even there ,I actually got him to come with me after much pleading. I myself was still as confused as everyone else.

"What's going on ?" I screamed. This just seems like a nightmare and it's lasting for too long.

This was supposed to be a nice dinner to relieve us of the so many things that were going on."What on earth is going on with Leo he has to explain to us most expecially Autumn , what's he doing? where is he? he shouldn't do this to me please"i yelled as rushed out the dinning.

"This isn't even funny ,wake up Ruby ,it's just a dream Leo is dead" I mumbled to myself.

" Wasn't i with him just now ", I asked myself in disbelief .things just kept running through my mind as I sat on the toilet sit in the restroom of my hotel room.Saying I am confused right now is an understatement.

I went back to the dinning "I know what y'all are thinking right now and I am as confused and shocked as you all are ,I understand no one wants to talk to me right now or even see my face but please believe me I have nothing to do with this little game Leo is playing ,I promise to find out what just really happened and get back to y'all , I walked backwards and stormed out of the dinning .As I walked down the stairs I tried calling Leo's phone ,since it is that he is alive he will probably be with his phone I thought as I dialed the number ,to my surprise it's ringing but there was no response ,I had to leave a message explaining everything and begging him to please call back , everyone needs an explanation and so do I .Shortly after I got home,i hear a knock on my room door , I didn't expect anyone to be home cause they were all at the hotel at the time i left there, i thought they would still be at the hotel .Fear gripped me as I thought is it Leo I mutterd to myself as I opened the door it was Kai standing there I immediately hugged him so tight and tears rushed down my eyes ,I didn't understand if it's the stress of the Leo situation ,or the fact that Kai seems to not be mad at me anymore and finally understands or that I actually missed him cause I didn't expect him to come to my door , even though he was no longer mad at me but the fact that he came up to my room was so unlike Kai.

Kai's POV

"Why the tears?" I asked Ruby."You know you shouldn't be crying ,I understand you are stressed but crying will make it worse it's going to be okay" I said as I wiped her tears ,patting her head.

"I am so sorry I know you would be disappointed in me but I know you understand very well the whole situation , for a moment ,I am so sorry Ruby" I said in a really low tone asking for Ruby's apology , she must be really sad and I realized I didn't have to add to it .She's my friend

I had to be by her side when no one was going to ,I accept for a moment I believed,I actually thought could it be possible she knew about this all along cause when we got the news that Leo was involved in an accident with no trace to his body ,Ruby wasn't really as sad as everyone else , maybe she just acted to be strong.Cause seeing how worried she is right now it is evident she knows nothing .

"It's okay ,cause I am also confused I need your help Kai",Ruby said in a calming voice.

"I had to leave the hotel I know how stressed you must be feeling right now"I said cause I knew well enough that she was wondering.

"And how is Autumn ?"Ruby asked in a worried tone.

"She is not doing so well everything must be very traumatizing for her but she will be fine .Although Ruby and Autumn do not agree alot of the time they still cared about each other , hearing Ruby ask of Autumn was the highlight of my day for the sisters,I hope it stays this way.

CHAPTER TWO

Ruby's POV

I woke up the next morning and saw Kai next to me just like couples and it made me smile ,Kai is the cutest and sweetest friend .Tall with brown hair ,blue eyes, handsome and fit these are the features I like alot about him, there's more to Kai but these are my favorite physical features .

Kai's phone rings, he was asleep so I didn't want to disturb I took the phone and answered the call "Kai help Ruby "was all the person said and then ended the call.

I didn't understand so I tried to call back but the number was no longer connecting now my heart starts raising and I dropped the phone and Kai wakes up ,he sees me looking scared "Ruby are you okay" and I immediately start trying to explain but I couldn't get the words out or put them together .I was able to finally say I was terrified , everything is getting scarier and now Kai begins to panic .

"I didn't want to but I had to, someone called your phone as you were sleeping I and didn't want to disturb,the person said Kai help Ruby and ended the call ,I tried calling back but I couldn't get through,I don't understand" I said .

I start to move around the room and Kai pulls me to him and hugs me ,"calm down "he said,Kai has the best voice ,his voice is so soothing ,"it will be clear soon ,we'll find out what's going on" he said.

I mumbled" I hope so"."Buh where do we even start we don't even understand what's going on " I panicked, "we will find out soon" Kai whispered.

I quickly rushed into the bathroom to get ready,I didn't have time to waste I just washed my teeth,washed my face, threw on a black top , and grey trouser and tied my long blonde hair in a bun. Kai didn't even do anything but washed his teeth and we rushed out with absolutely no direction or clue of where we were even headed.We stopped by a restaurant to get some food,I didn't have an appetite but Kai won't allow me I just had to eat something.

Okay so now I wanted to see my sister Autumn ,it must be so traumatic for her after thinking and grieving her fiance was dead ,to finding out he was not,to finding him in a restroom with her sister, to him disappearing again, I can't even start to think of what's going on in her mind right now.

We stopped by the hotel thank goodness everyone was still at the hotel met mom in Autumn's room, Autumn probably doesn't want to see me right now but I just had to play my role as her sister and her twin at that. I spoke to her from a distance and rushed out with Kai ,mom isn't even my concern right now just Autumn and finding leo.I was now hoping for another strange call, just something to give a clue of where to start from.

Kai's POV

Ruby is totally stressed,I don't even like seeing her like this as we walked around the hotel we bumped into Leo,i felt like punching him in the face and demanded an explanation for everything but Ruby was the happiest so I just had to leave that for a while and calmed down ,we started asking him questions but he won't reply us,it was later on we found out that he possibly seemed to have lost his memory , and he was actually now a staff at the hotel.We couldn't believe this we calmly explained a few things to him and spoke with the hotels manager he agreed to come with us to the hospital and then Ruby gave her mom a call cause Autumn was angry with her but it was all a misunderstanding.

Ruby's POV

On getting to the hospital ,we asked to meet a doctor and he explained what might have possibly happened to Leo ,but there was only a tiny chance he could ever remember his past, Autumn is heartbroken and I feel hurt for my sister she doesn't deserve this l.But thank God he is fine and alive.

The one question that kept going through my mind was what actually happened to Leo?did someone intentionally try to hurt him ? who would even want to hurt Leo?he is such a nice guy. Everything is still very hard to process, now everyone knows that Leo is fine and well and he is back in the house ,his parents are happy thier son is alive they didn't seem to care about the fact that he doesn't remember them.Everything seems to be fine now and everyone is coping one way or the other.

I had to go have a talk with mum now"I was actually disappointed mum you didn't believe me when I told you, but at the same time I understand but you should have just believed me it's actually heartbreaking I hope I can ever get over this"mum was just totally speechless as she stared at me ,

"Ruby"she called out my name ,"I totally understand your point of view but please understand mine it doesn't mean I am not sorry I am but please my baby".

I didn't know how to feel or what to say so I walked out the room and met Leo ."Leo ,I know it's hard for you as well , I promise everything will be alright , have you spoken with Autumn?

"I don't know what to say or discuss with her this was my fiance and I cared about her,why don't i feel anything it's making everything worse for me ,I am just tired why do I have to go through this ,I don't know anything about myself".

"It's alright Kai will let you know all he can we just hope you get better soon",I said trying to calm him a little.

CHAPTER THREE

kai's POV

I walk in on Ruby having a conversation with Leo I don't understand why but seeing Leo like this is makes my heart feel like it's been ripped into pieces , I admit to disliking Leo but he doesn't deserve to be like this.I just hoped for him to get better , anything for Ruby to be happy , after Ruby's dad had passed only a few days to her and Autumn's fourteenth birthday life has really been hard on her and her family and new incidents just seems to happen one after another.It should really just be done with already . It hurts me seeing her go through all these and I literally can't do anything to stop it.

Ruby's POV

Kai just stands there ,he seems to be really deep in thought ,Leo is his cousin after all it must be hard for him too ,to be honest it's hard for everyone .

"It's a good news Leo is alive" I thought , and it hits me if this actually happened to Leo then his life is probably still in danger .Ever since Leo was a teen he started getting involved with some really dangerous goons ,these people seemed to be his friends.But they are the prime suspects right now ,Leo was going to change his ways as he wanted to start a new life with Autumn as a real man now could this have gotten his friends angry at him and they just tried to kill him .

"This is the only explanation I can think of relating to this" I thought to myself , Ruby I heard Kai call out my name ,it seemed like I was already deep in thought .Yes I responded calmly that you might not have heard what I said , "what are you thinking about for goodness sake?" . It's nothing I said trying to brush it off, even knowing fully well there was something ."Ruby do you know we have got another issue ?", "and what's that?" I asked staring at his eyes looking for answers in curiosity .The person that called we also need to find out what he meant by take care of Ruby .

"Yes and to be honest Kai what does that even mean ,is he trying to signal us of something or just trying to mess with our heads as we were already searching for Leo ?but wait who would want to keep us under tension ? an enemy Kai said as he said staring at the door like it's the so called enemy .

I actually do not believe this family would have an enemy like seriously this really sounds ridiculous,"Aiden Joe"Kai said with this look of happiness on his face like he just found a solution to our problems" Aiden Joe? "I asked again hoping I just heard the something wrong .

It hit me this is just the beginning of our trouble .We both stared at each other knowing there was a problem which was going to be extremely difficult to solve."Nobody is safe ,did they do this to Leo as a warning or what?

Now we have two prime suspects which were the boss of the KJGroups and Aiden Joe these are two dangerous men deep down I just hoped this wasn't the situation and hoped it was something else.

Although Leo has lost most of his memory ,he understands the situation and you can see the ,fear and confusion on his face ,so how do we really know what's actually going on and who is behind all this according to you guys if it's Aiden Joe then he has a problem with my family right or the KJ groups leader it's supposed to be a personal issue with me, what have you got to do with this ,Leo said as he stared at me in confusion,I and Kai just stood there speechless ,it all seems to be getting more and more complicated .

Leo is a very intelligent man he has always been known for his quick thinking and finding solution to problems within the blink of an eye and this is one of the reasons the leader of KJ was very upset when Leo decided to leave the gang and he was willing to do anything to keep Leo but Leo is a stubborn man letting him go on his own felt like a threat to him and that's why they decided to kill him .

Leo's POV

Seeing all these drama and sadness ,I am glad to have been reunited with my family but , there seems to be a big issue . Ruby's is in danger, maybe if I was able to gain a little bit of my memory I would have known what's wrong according to everyone there is a chance I know about something and that's why my life was being threatened, the only things I remember are my parents,my sister .

They say Autumn is my fiance but I don't remember that ,I don't even feel any connection or whatsoever towards her ,my life is complicated right now maybe it would have been better if I had just died .I hate to say it but that's just how I genuinely feel right now I thought about all these as I walk behind Kai and Ruby downstairs.

Kai seems to be really into Ruby the connection between them is so glaring that even a person who had lost his memory like me could see .Well this is not the time to think about stuff like this.When everything gets better things will happen smoothly for them . What about my fiance ,I just wonder how she is genuinely feeling right now ,why don't I feel a connection with her even when I was the same person who was inlove with her.I really just hope to gain my memory as soon as possible so I can answer all these questions in my mind.

CHAPTER FOUR

Ruby's POV

1 month later

For the first time in a long while everyone seems to be so happy in the living room this morning at Leo's house, even though I and mum are still having our differences, it' was Madelyn's idea for us to move to Leo's family house to live as it may help him gain his memory faster if stuff triggers it often, Madelyn is Leo's sister , who lives far from home .

"I will be back", I said as I walked out the large door of the Andrew's mansion , with a bottle of my favorite drink and files folded up my arms ,I am wearing a short white skirt ,white shirt with red heels .I had dyed my hair red for Valentine's day.I also planned to write a letter telling everyone one of how much I love and care about them , don't know if mum was going to be included but yes I might cause I still love her , this was my mission this morning as I wanted it to be a surprise I had to do it far from home ,when I bumped into Kai .

"Hey pretty girl, why in a hurry, have an appointment? I was so shocked that everything fell of my hands.

"Kai you were supposed to be on a business trip right ?"I questioned Kai .

"Yes miss, just came in to surprise everyone, tommorow is Valentine's day" he said looking at me in some wierd way like he was planning something, not something good but bad.

"Hmm is this your way of trying to make me fall for you before Val's day so you won't be single on Val's day this year " I grilled teasing him as we both burst into laughter.

"Maybe I should do that"he said biting his pink lucious lips,with his hands on his jaw.

"You ain't even good at that"I teased him .

"I just hope this isn't how you will embarrass me when trying to get a girlfriend",I said as I started picking up the files from the floor .

"You aren't even a gentleman couldn't you have helped me here , it's really going to take a long time to get a girl for yourself" I said teasing him.

"Someone from behind me said "yes I agree" I turned around to see that it was Leo.

"How would you even be on her side?",I laughed.

"Well guys I gotta go" I said opening the door .

"Let me drop you off"Kai said holding my hand on door of the car.

"Weren't you here to suprise everyone? I asked .

"Uhm yes I was but will do that when we get back.

"I think you should go in for the suprise"i said as I took the keys from him.

"I would have really loved to come with you though" he said insisting.

"Oh my goodness okay I will just wait here then"i said as I went in and sat on the passengers sit.

"He quickly rushes to see everyone,"please a bottle of water on your way back"I screamed cause he was already far.

Kai's POV

Walking into the house,I met Autumn going out through another door which leads to the other side of the house and I wondered what was wrong because of how fast she was moving.

"Hi everyone"I greeted as I hugged my aunt Brooklyn from behind ,she was was so happy to see me that she stood up to give me a hug, everyone was sitting on the dinning table and were about to dig in for breakfast.

"We missed you so much what a surprise to see you"aunt Brooklyn said in excitement.

"I came in to spend Valentine's day with my family" I answered.

My mum was Mrs Brooklyn's younger sister she passed when I was ten,while my I never actually got to meet my dad.So Mr and Mrs Brooklyn were the ones who took me in and raised me as theirs.Leo never really liked me cause he felt like I was going to take his place and it made me dislike him also buh as time goes I think we both now understand that we were both being silly before he lost his memory.Now I and Leo seem to have a fresh start and care about each other as real brothers that we are.

"I will be right back"I said as I walked into the kitchen to get Ruby's bottle of water when I noticed a note on the trash.I don't even know how it caught my attention but I think it was Ruby's name written boldly that grabbed my attention to it,it was squeezed and even torn in several pieces so I couldn't put the words together to make sense.But something seemed to be going on, i had a flashback seeing Autumn rush out the back.After much conteplation I had forgotten Ruby was outside waiting.

"Ruby must be so fierce right now I mumbled as I ran out.Am sorry I screamed from far making sure she had calmed down before getting close as I got closer.

"I thought as much,am sorry" I said as I handed the bottle of water to her. She didn't say a word.She was already sitting on the passengers sit so I was to drive,as we drove off I couldn't help but think of what must be the issue,all of a sudden I sighted Autumn at a very rugged area.This was so unlike her could it be that my imagination is real is she being blackmailed?,suddenly I remembered what Ruby had told me about the call she answered.

"Why are you so focused on that building please you know we need to get to our destination safely Ruby queried.It seemed she even forced herself to speak as she was still upset with me for keeping her waiting.

" Alright sorry miss" but in my mind I had decided that I will come back to that location .
