The alarm clock was continuously buzzing. Seventeen years old Kiara groaned and turned her alarm off. She closed her eyes and again went back to the world of her dreams.
"Kiara...girl you need to wake up now. It's already 7." Kiara groaned, hearing her brother's annoying sound. Why did God gave her such a monster as her brother. He buried her face in the pillow.
In the very next moment, she heard the door of her room getting opened with a bang sound. She frustratingly opened her eyes and shouted, "Ya. Just get lost."
Raaj saw his sister who was on her bed and was looking at his face with her dangerous eyes. Raaj jumped on the other side of the bed and mockingly said, "Just get lost."
Kiara balled her palms into a first and punched him on his back. Raaj saw her with bored expressions as he said, "Look. I don't have time for this nonsense of yours. Just get ready for school. I will drop you on my way."
Kiara saw him with her dead pan eyes. She stood up from the bed and stomped towards the bathroom.
Raaj saw her room and cringed. Well there was his own reasons to do so. He was a twenty two year old college going hunk and the room he was in was like a typical teenager's girly room.
He picked a white rabbit plush from the bed and smelled it. "Even rabbits of her room smell shit," he said before throwing it in the corner of the room.
He was about to throw another pillow when his phone rang. He pulled the phone out from the pocket of his jeans and saw the called ID.
Abhi.
He picked up the call and said, "Bro, I will be missing first lecture. And yes...I will shift back to your home with you...Nah they don't let me study at home ... Yup ... Hm ... See ya."
He disconnected the call and saw the time.
7.15am, Saturday.
"You little rabbit! Come out fast else you will be late for school," Raaj shouted from outside and left the room. Just after he left, Kiara came out from the bathroom, like she was waiting for him to go outside.
"Raaj is shifting back to with him." She said to herself. She was dazed as she slowly wore her school uniform. She picked her bag and rushed downstairs.
"Kiara...look what papa brought for you yesterday." Kiara's mother, Nandini Ji smiled and saw her daughter. Kiara saw Raaj sitting on the couch. She tossed her pencil kit towards him and said, "I want two blue pens," and ran towards her mother.
Raaj snarled and punched in air. Kiara saw the basket full of strawberries on the dining table. She exclaimed happily and took two berries. "Uh-huh. First have your breakfast. You can have these in school."
"Let her have some," a gentle voice came from behind the fridge. Kiara saw her father, Prashant Ji behind the opened door of the fridge. She smiled and gave him a thumbs up.
Nandini ji saw the duo and complaint, "You have already spoilt her a lot. Look, she isn't having her breakfast now."
Prashant ji smiled and said, "It's okay. I only have one daughter. It's my right and my duty to spoil her."
Raaj who came back from the study room with four pens in his hand heard his father and said, "Well papa. Apart from a daughter you have a son too. The only son." He said and pointed towards his face.
Nandini ji saw his face and laughed while saying, "Look, he is looking so silly." Raaj stared at his parents in disbelief. "Bravo. When the baby daughter comes, son becomes useless."
Everyone completely ignored him and sat on the dining table. Raaj hugged himself and said, "Fine. I'll help myself. I have no expectations from y'all."
He sat beside Kiara who was eating strawberries. Nandini ji served everyone tea with sandwiches. While everyone was having their breakfast, Raaj said, "Ma. Papa. I am shifting back with Abhi. I may need your car."
"Do you have many things to shift. Should I contact some moving agency." Prashant ji asked with a pinch of concern in his voice.
Raaj assured his father and said ,"Papa I don't have that much things. Beside, Abhi will be helping me to move."
Kiara, who was eating strawberries peacefully suddenly started eating slowly, paying all the attention to her brother.
"But I've heard he is doing a part time job too. Isn't it just like putting a burden on him." Nandini ji asked him seriously. Raaj shook his head and said, "No ma. He has taken off from his job because of the upcoming viva exam."
As soon as Raaj mentioned Viva exam, Kiara jumped in between the conversation, "Bhai, I want to help you." Everyone saw her with dumbfounded expressions.
Kiara cleared her throat and said,"Well tomorrow is my holiday so I can help you today." Raaj sarcastically said, "You weigh 40kgs. My books are heavier than you."
"Papa..." Kiara saw her father with her helpless eyes and whined. Prashant ji tried to coax her, "Kiara, Raaj is right. Beside if you go there, he will make you do all the work. Instead we'll go to have your favourite tiramisu today."
When Kiara saw that buttering her father won't work, she turned to her mother. "Ma...I want to help my brother. This is the least I can do for him," she placed her hand on her chest, trying to show her sincerest look.
Nandini ji smiled and said, "Raaj take her with you after her school." Raaj who was already in shock by her sister's brilliant performance, flabbergasted at his mother's words and said, "Maa. She is a walking trouble. She just trapped you in her honey coated wo —"
Before Raaj could finish his sentence, Kiara stuffed a strawberry in his mouth and continued to whine in front of her parents. They both saw her cute antics and announced, "Fine, you can go with him."
Kiara cheered as Raaj threw the strawberry out from his mouth and said, "I disagree." He then saw Kiara and said, "if she comes with me, I have to take care of her rather than my things. Who knows if she would get crushed under those heavy boxes."
"I'll help you to move, and you can study for your viva exam." Kiara said like this-is-a-matter-of-fact-you-big-freak. But Raaj gave her a I-know-you-only-want-to-hang-out look.
Kiara again saw her parents with her saddened face. Prashant ji sighed and pulled out his wallet and placed a 500 rupee note in front of Raaj.
Raaj saw her father with his mouth wide open and said, "Are you trying to buy me. With that too, just 500. Am I just this worthy to you?"
"So is it a deal?" Prashant ji asked him. Raaj made a face and took the note quickly and said, "Fine...fine...I respect you and your words."
Kiara exclaimed and hugged her brother from side. Raaj cringed and said, "Stay away from me. I don't like you." Kiara pulled herself away and hitted him on his forearm.
Raaj teased her by sticking his tongue out. Kiara too teased him and the duo left for the school after the breakfast with chaotically completed.
What will happen next?
Who is Abhi and why do you think Kiara wants to help her brother aka her monster brother?
