Zale POV
I waited in the car outside the University to pick Adeline up. I leaned back against the headrest, breathing in deeply.
So much had changed since the cave. Since Adeline had come into the forest looking for me. And all of it had been for the better. My wolf had been going crazy, having its mate so close and not being able to grasp it.
I had been losing my mind trying to control the wolf, and Adeline had been fighting an uphill battle trying to get everything under control.
But those days were long past us now. The wolf was not quiet, and he was not gone, but he was nowhere near the out of control insanity that he had been before. Adeline’s ability was enough to control it now, and the Moon pool was also strong enough to quell the anger of the beast.
I had never imagined, when I had been younger, that there would come a time where I had so many options to protect myself. I had never once imagined that it would be this easy or simple, either.
