My Ex-Husband Desires Me

"Wh..wh.. what is this Maxwell?" She raised her head, her vision was blurred with unshed tears.   "Can't you read?" He asked, "I'm filing for a divorce, sign it and let's both go our separate ways." He handed her a pen.   "What did I do? I thought you said you loved me. Were you just fooling with me? Did you toy with my feelings?" She sobbed. The tears she had been holding flowed freely down her cheeks.   "Don't act like you don't know what you did. What? You thought I would never find out? You gold-digging whore!" He yelled.    Morgana grabbed the table cloth, every word that left his mouth was like an arrow piercing through her chest. "Why would you say that to me? You've known me for a year now, do I look like a gold digger to you?" She cleaned her tears, but the tears kept falling nonstop.   "That's because you are good at acting. Do you want me to tell you what you did since you can't seem to remember?"    "You are the reason I got drunk that night, You got me drunk just so you could sleep with me and after that, you leaked the information because you knew that my family would ask us to get married just to save our reputation."  ........... After their wedding anniversary, which ended up with a divorce, Morgana swore to herself that she would work hard and earn for herself and her unborn baby. But then, her supposed Ex-Husband wants her back and is trying his best to get back into her life.

Saving what is left

"I don't need your money, Maxwell," she cleaned her cheeks, picked up the pen and signed the papers. "I guess this is goodbye, Thank you for taking care of me all this while and thank you for believing what you heard outside and reacting to it instead of asking me first." She took off her watch, wedding ring, earrings and chain.

"You bought all of these jewellery for me, you can have them with the wedding ring. I won't be leaving this house with anything you bought with your money, the phone you bought for me is on that table. It was nice knowing you, Mr. Maxwell Mayor." She walked with her head held high, and with every step she took out of that house, it weighed on her heart.

Her legs were heavy but she lifted them and walked out of the house, She fought the tears that were threatening to fall, she wanted to save what was left of her dignity.

Maxwell watched her walk out of his house and life, it felt like a string was tied to his heart and was being pulled with force. He switched on the light in the living room, the floor was covered with rose petals, and balloons were tied on the ceiling. He stared at the table where they just had their last meal, she did all of that for them.

"I thought you were perfect, I thought I had found the one but you lied to me, you set everything up." He punched the wall multiple times leaving him with bruised knuckles.

He went to their room, just like the living room it was decorated. She had scattered rose petals on the bed and the floor, the room temperature was warm, and their Wedding pictures were on the walls. "This was supposed to be a fun night, Why Morgana, why did you do this to me? Why did you do this to us?!" He yelled.

Morgana sobbed as she walked on the deserted streets, everyone had retired home. "I'm going to prove to you that I am not a golddigger, I had nothing to do with what happened that night." Her nose was red and running, her eyes were swollen.

She placed her hand on her stomach, "You were supposed to be a second anniversary gift for your dad, but he kicked us out But don't worry I'll take care of you. We don't need him, I'm going to make sure that you lack nothing."

Morgana finally reached her destination, she returned to the house her parents left for her before dying. It was the only property they left for her, "Thank you Mom and Dad for leaving me this house, I wouldn't know where to stay."

The next day, Maxwell's parents called him over for a family meeting. "What do you mean by you two got divorced, last I remembered, she was happy to decorate the house for your anniversary. She even told me she had a surprise for you, for all of us." His mother Clarissa said, she had grown to love Morgana and couldn't believe her son divorced her.

"I found out that she was the one who orchestrated the accidental one-night stand we had one year ago. She got me drunk which led to us sleeping together, she was behind everything."

His mother opened her mouth but shut it, she couldn't believe what she just heard. "Where did you get that information from?"

"Yesterday while I was working, someone sent me a parcel. It was pictures of the two of us. Morgana was sitting next to me in the bar, there was an audio recording of her telling the bartender to make sure I get wasted."

"There was also a picture of us going to a secret room in the bar and then a pic of us waking up naked, it was the same pic you received. She planned everything because she wanted to be part of our family in other to have access to my wealth."

"Are you sure about this? Why did they not send you a video? Don't you know these things can be fabricated?" Clarissa tried to reason with him.

"Mom the evidence was before my eyes, pictures don't lie." Although he was bent on making them believe him, he was hurt by everything that was happening.

"Maxwell in this generation pictures can lie, You didn't act like I would expect you to. Where is she?" His father Laurence finally spoke up.

"I don't know, she left yesterday." The moment he said that he released she left when it was dark. Unpleasant thoughts clouded his mind.

"Why did you let her go? What if something happened to her while she was going back home that night?" His mother asked in disbelief.

"I will have someone check up on her, She must have returned to her parent's house." He called one of his guards to go check up on her but he shouldn't get caught by her.

"I think Maxwell made the right decision, I didn't like that girl the moment I saw her, I knew she wasn't genuine, I knew she was a golddigger, but couldn't say anything because you all were fooled by her." Maxwell's Auntie Fiona chipped in, she had been watching them all talk about what happened as though she wasn't in the room.

"You are going to regret your actions, Maxwell, I'm going to let you do what you wish. No one in this family will intervene with your decision and no one will approach Morgana, your lives are in your hands." Clarissa concluded.

The family meeting came to an end, Maxwell didn't want to stay at his parent's place so he returned home. "Did I make the wrong decision? Was I overwhelmed by the evidence that was provided to me? Did I act too fast?"

His phone rang, "What did you find out?"

"Boss she is here at her late parent's place, I found out that she went for job hunting Early this morning." His bodyguard reported.

"Ok, keep an eye on her and don't let her get a whiff of it, Protect her and make sure nobody harms her." He disconnected the call.
