Ms Jones was speechless. She tried to say something, but I had a hunch she was afraid that her words might rile Kin up.
“Mr Carville, it was me who wanted this position,” I interjected. “I was the one who wanted to start from scratch. Ms Jones would have offered a higher position to me, and I still wouldn’t have accepted.”
“Are you suggesting that these five editors here should be stripped off from their positions and stay here as junior editors instead, just like you?” Kin asked crudely; an eyebrow raised almost to the hairline.
“I didn’t say that!” I glared at him. “This has nothing to do with them.”
“You said, if Ms Jones had offered you a higher position, you still wouldn’t have accepted it. What if I offer you a higher position instead? Will you accept it?”
