Chapter 66

"I can forgive you for what you did to me, but I can't promise you that I will forget what you did to me"

Wang Yu had not expected this reaction from Li Zi Yun. He had expected her to throw a tantrum that she was treated unjustly and she should be compensated for that, or yell at him. Many people usually take advantage of the situation and try to gain from that, but Li Zi Yun was different.

Li Zi Yun had thought for some time before replying to Wang Yu. Li Zi Yun knew that lot was at stake for her and she had so much to lose if she lost this job, while Wang Yu lost just an employee. Even her father Li Shu Chen would easily use her for his goals if she were unemployed. Now she understood the reason why Wang Yu chose her to be his personal secretary even though she was under qualified. Wang Yu wanted to torture her and that is why he kept her close.

Wang Yu looked at Li Zi Yun. She looked unusually calm and she had thought so much before giving this reply. He knew it was not easy for her to say this sentence. She had put so much thought into this before answering him.

The physical pain was nothing to her. What Wang Yu did to her was nothing compared to what her stepmother and stepsister had done to her. The only thing she could not forgive was when Wang Yu used her weakness against her. The trauma of remembering the accident and feeling as if she was dying again was too much for her.

Li Zi Yun continued in a calm voice, "I don't blame you for any of this. But shouldn't you have asked me directly in the beginning itself instead of being confused about this and thinking of ways to torture me?"

Wang Yu did not reply. He looked at her without saying a word.

Li Zi Yun looked at Wang Yu but he did not reply, so she continued, "I know that you have no reason to believe me or trust me. I am neither your friend nor someone whom you have known for so many years. Why would you believe me?"

Wang Yu would have felt better if Li Zi Yun had yelled at him or slapped him, but her calm approach made him feel more guilty. He could not believe that even in this situation she was thinking practically.

"I am sorry. I couldn't think straight when it came to Wang Yiran."

Li Zi Yun also had another reason, if she yells at him or demands something from him today then this issue ends today itself. She did not want that. If Li Zi Yun spoke emotionally, she knew that Wang Yu would be more affected by that and he would feel worse. Just because she said these words, Li Zi Yun was not stupid. She reacted to situations practically and in a logical way rather than taking quick decisions, so everyone thought it was easy to bully her, but Li Zi Yun had a bottom-line. Li Zi Yun had experienced everything in her life until now and she knew how to react in every situation. A few words were enough to destroy everything, but gaining everything that has been lost will take a very long time.

"I understand. Everyone gets emotional when it comes to family. I am envious of Wang Yiran that she has someone who cares about her."

Now Li Zi Yun was curious about Wang Yiran. What had happened to her? She was a bit hesitant to ask Wang Yu about her. Yet she asked him.

"Can you tell me what happened to Wang Yiran? Why did she commit suicide?"

"Can you keep a secret?"

"If it's a secret then you need not tell me. I won't bring up this topic again"

Li Zi Yun was not that interested in knowing about Wang Yiran. She only questioned him because he had tortured her in Wang Yiran's name.

"On the last day when everyone saw Wang Yiran in school, she was found in a pool of blood at the back of the school"

"What???"

When Li Zi Yun was in high school, suddenly one day the teachers at school informed them that Wang Yiran had transferred to another school. When they were discussing about what happened to Wang Yiran, Li Xin Yi looked like she had seen a devil. Everyone thought it was because Wang Yiran left without informing anybody so Li Xin Yi felt left out and missed her. However, after a week Li Xin Yi had started going around the school as if she owned the place. Several rumors were floating around at school about Wang Yiran but nothing had been close to the truth. No one had guessed something like this because Wang Yiran was the type of person who did not mind killing a person, she would rather kill than die. Li Zi Yun definitely would not have believed this if it did not come out Wang Yu's mouth. Wang Yiran's name was only brought up sometime but mostly she was forgotten after that. Li Zi Yun also would have forgotten her if not for Li Xin Yi going around always with Wang Yiran and bullying her.

Li Zi Yun suddenly remembered about Li Xin Yi who was in the video.

"Was Li Xin Yi the last one to see her?"

Wang Yu nodded his head.
