Heaven On Earth
The first person to notice the awkward silence and stare between Ai Mi and Haoran was Zhi Ruo.
Her hands became tight fists. Tight enough to make both the eyes, nose and lips of Ai Mi bleed at one punch.
Haoran also noticed her anger and that was when he broke the eye contact and stared at Zhi Ruo in confusion. Ai Mi also followed his line of sight and saw as the fists began to loosen.
Of course, Zhi Ruo's head was down, therefore she didn't know when the two of them started staring at her.
Feeling Haoran eyes now redirected to her, Ai Mi maintains composure and with a faint smile on her face, turned to the people to continue their introduction.
"The previous CEO asked all browsing companies to place that year in their websites. But that is false"
Acknowledging that all eyes on her and all ears are standing erect, she continued.
"This company has been in existence for 46 years and it has gone through the hands of only three CEO's. By means of the government supervision, the two previous CEOs got fired because of embezzlement of the government funds and lying to the financial headquarters in America that it was innocent people who took the funds"
Pitiful faces and angry expressions began to well up on the faces of the workers in front of her. How dare they?!
"But the good news is that I am not part. I have all the money I need therefore the money of this company is useless to me"
Useless? What a harsh word to use. A worker chuckles loudly, making all eyes to settle on him.
"Sorry"
"Do you think any of this is funny?" Zhi Ruo questions
She is in a bad mood today... She look older than earlier when Haoran saw her.
"He apologized. Don't bring anything up!" Ai Mi shuns!
Even the workers has noticed how harsh Ai Mi has been to Zhi Ruo. But instead of pity to whirl up in their hearts towards her, it is also disgusting thoughts.
She is so rude, so a rude person should handle her!
"As we were saying, you shouldn't think of me like how the others do. I don't have a bad mind towards anyone, naturally a boss is expected to be a bit..."
"Strict?" Haoran says, noticing her lost of words
Zhi Ruo jaw clenches as she raises her head up. Why is he helping her? What is the meaning of that?
"Exactly. Strict. But not strict to some part of making the workers overwork, right?"
The workers nods, seemingly enjoying the discussion.
Suddenly, the hand of a female employee shoots up with a friendly smile on her face.
"Yes?"
"Miss Ai Mi, I see a great leader and a friendly person before me. But, may I ask, why is it that the workers say a lot of bad things about you. Like, the sack letter thing and being a bit harsh but you call it authoritative?"
Silence reigns as Ai Mi stares at the lady blankly.
After while, her face became lightened up as if she just remembered something.
"You know, even if I say anything, it will remain the same if you don't believe me"
The workers turn to look at each other in confusion. Believe her? Does that mean either she or the old workers are liars?
Haoran though, says nothing but just stare. He has heard that sentence before... But where?
"My own type of leadership is not among the leadership defined at school. I am a wolf in a sheep's clothing, a demon in angel's garments..."
Everyone stares... Fear erupting in their eyes like a volcanic explosion.
"But my environment, is heaven on earth"
Heaven...? On earth?
"Don't mind what people say about me, I do things they don't like and they get angry at me for no obvious reasons"
Zhi Ruo fights her lips from breaking into a smile amd and then bursting into laughter.
What a grand speech!
If anyone is to watch her right now, they'll be thrilled to see a joker in a wolf's clothing or whatever she just said.
As Zhi Ruo mocked her in her mind with her head down, she didn't know when her boss had assigned her to take up a file and hand it over to her.
Everyone stares at Zhi Ruo, who apparently, have nothing but a nasty smirk on her face.
So this is what she means when she said people talk bad about her for unknown reasons...
Zhi Ruo is smiling with a bad thought about Ai Mi running through her mind. Even the workers know.
For some reason, Haoran felt angry and infuriated!
No wonder she always show some form of anger when Ai Mi's name is mentioned! She just don't like her, right?"
"Umm... Miss Zhi Ruo" the male gentleman directly in front of Zhi Ruo calls, snapping her back to reality. She looks up to find everyone staring at her, some with pleading faces, others with angry faces.
"Miss Ai Mi asked for a file" Zhi Ruo immediately takes a file from the pile of files and walked hurriedly to Ai Mi and stretched it out with both hands.
But instead of Ai Mi to collect it, she also looked at her furiously.
She pulls her hand and with the strength in her, she landed on Zhi Ruo's face a cheek-tearing slap!
Everyone gasps and stared at them, shocked!
Ai Mi then collects the file tardily and gave her a sign to leave the office.
"Go home" Ai Mi whispered in a way only she and Zhi Ruo would hear.
And she left, taking her purse with her. Tears of anger flowing down her cheeks.
The workers that felt anger towards Zhi Ruo now felt bad for her. But every assistant should be focused whenever they're in front of their boss... Why was she... ?
Confirming her presence was no more within the company, Ai Mi looked at them and said with a low voice.
"Prepare your pitches by tomorrow. The board will then confirm if you are illegible for crime detection"
She relaxes both of her palms on the edge of the desk in the office.
"Do not tell anyone about this, not even Zhi Ruo when she asks. Not the other workers and not your relatives. Make this decision by yourself and submit this form tomorrow in my office. Do not let anyone see this"
