Toshi's POV
Those two kids learned so fast in just a short period of time. I wished I could get married and have kids of my own. But, I don't want to get married because I am not interested in relationships, but these kids make me feel that I have kids so suddenly even I am not married. I really want to do something for them.
Later, at 12:33 p.m., it was lunch time, so I went to the breakroom to eat lunch with Akira and Hachi. But upon arriving there, I saw what Akira was watching in his smartphone: a video about moving bar graphs. When I looked closer, I saw numbers constantly changing as the video progresses.
"What is that?" I asked Akira.
Akira then looked at me. "Oh, this is a data video."
"Data video? As in, a video about data?"
"Yes, and I mainly watches them for the music, but I also considers the data itself as well."
The teenager then shows a spiral-bound notebook to me, before opening its graph pages to a line graph hand drawn using pencil.
"I liked drawing out line graphs out of data videos," he revealed.
"Oh, I didn't know you're into that stuff," I responded, before sitting next to Hachi and put my lunch box on the table.
I then opened my lunch box, revealing a delicious katsuo udon with boiled eggs.
After I had said "Thanks for the food", I grabbed my wooden chopsticks and eat up.
Akira then closed his graph notebook and put it and his smartphone aside so he could finish eating his lunch.
"Toshi-san," Akira said to me.
"Yes?" I looked at him.
"I really liked data videos since elementary," he revealed.
"Is that so? Do you know any English at that time?"
"Yes, by third year of elementary, I am fluent in English."
"Wow, that's amazing. You are a genius."
"Yeah, data videos partially helped me learn some history of any given country by using data and statistics."
That was radical of him.
I then replied, "I see then. Well, for me, I liked data and statistics just for their possible conclusions, and I am obsessed to that kind of stuff."
Because of that, Akira and Hachi are very surprised, probably for the third time today, before we all laughed about it.
Shortly thereafter, after we had finished eating lunch, I asked Akira for any recommendation of data videos so I could make conclusions out of them.
"Sure," answered Akira back in agreement, "later at home, I'll show you my tapes that I brought from Okutama."
I agreed, too, saying, "I'll burrow some."
Now we had something in common.
