CHAPTER 28 (NEW AVATAR)

( A/N: I didn't see any comments and I don't really know what to write so we'll skip that for now)

Yesterday's events left me exhausted. I managed to sign a familiar contract with Anya, the Familiar Queen. David signed a contract with A, whose real name was Amaya. He has been smiling stupidly ever since. Diana signed a contract with a cat-type familiar, while Lily and Naraia both chose Nature and Blood types, respectively.

If you're wondering if the blood type was made of blood, the answer is no - that's just the name they were given. The blood type had the form of a vampire and had the ability to create and manipulate blood or matter of the same composition as blood. The nature type was the most complex, other than the Queen herself. She had the ability to create and manipulate anything natural that existed on or under the ground, as long as the master's supply of energy allowed it.

Diana's cat-type had high agility and physical strength, and could create an almost endless supply of exploding fur-balls and energy claws. Amaya was a human-type - she could do anything a human could do, and even create things made by humans, as long as she understood the workings. Lastly, the Queen had the ability to create a field of authority, where any nonliving thing within the field was under her control.

The familiars didn't use mana, ki, aether or soul energy like the races of Earth. They used a form of energy called Primal Essence, which they believed the universe was created using. It was one of the few races that could use it. They could create almost anything in the universe with it. But about thirty thousand years ago, the supply of Primal Essence to their planet suddenly stopped, driving them into the depths of despair.

Their only source of energy was the occasional essence that wafted into their planet from the void of space. They began to adapt to the sparseness of energy, but no amount of adaptation could help them. Then, one day, multiple chains suddenly appeared on their world. They found out that those chains were connections to other worlds. After studying the texts embedded on the chains, they discovered a way to gain energy: the Familiar Contract.

They learned how to convert the energy from other worlds into Primal Essence, since all things were born from Primal Essence, they could be returned to what they originally were. They could absorb mana from their masters and convert it into Primal Essence. Ninety percent of the Primal Essence went to them, and the remaining ten percent went to their world. All they had to do in exchange was to follow what was stated in the contract.

Finally, it was time to leave. It turned out there was no portal to leave this planet. If I hadn't contracted Anya, we would have been stuck here.

"Why did you say you couldn't do this again?" I asked, scratching my head.

"I didn't have enough energy to, and even if I did, my authority wasn't high enough to do it," she replied.

"And it's high enough now?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, I'm now contracted to you, even if you're just a fragment, you still have divinity flowing through you," she explained.

"I see," I said, nodding my head. "Why didn't you ascend to godhood with the original me then?"

She adopted a sad look. "I couldn't. The laws of my world were broken, so no one could ascend. And I couldn't do it on your world because I wasn't a native."

"Oh...," I said, feeling awkward. "I'm sorry about that."

She smiled gently. "Don't be sorry. It's not like it's your fault." She paused. "But I wonder what that stupid god is doing."

[THE GOD OF FAMILIARS TURNS TO YOU]

[Switch to third person]

"Shit, let's move," Damian said hurriedly.

[QUEEN'S AUTHORITY]

An invisible wave passed through their bodies. Then, the space around them twisted, and they disappeared. They didn't see it, and they might never know about it, but after they teleported, a giant bolt of lightning, the size of a car, struck their former position.

"Tch," a voice sounded. "They escaped. Lucky brats."

[BACK TO DAMIAN'S PERSPECTIVE]

'We appeared in a forest again,' I thought. 'How lucky can we be?'

Ahead of us, we could hear the sound of people arguing. Curious to know what they were arguing about, we went in that direction.

"You idiot," a voice sounded. "I told you not to go for another round. What do we do about this now?"

"She was a vampire," another voice sounded.

"I never expected her to be so weak as to die after a few rounds," the second voice continued.

"You idiot," the third voice sounded. "Have you forgotten the drug? She was supposed to be weakened for a day."

As I got to their location, I was shocked by what I saw: a girl lying on the floor naked, apparently raped to death. My eyes turned cold at the thought.

THUD! THUD!! THUD!!!

The three of them fell to the ground, headless. Scum like them didn't deserve to live. I turned to the soul, who was staring down at her body.

"She was innocent,"

"You still want to live, don't you?" I asked.

She turned to me. "I always thought I wanted to die," she said. "I was rejected by my own people for being a half-blood. I was forced to live in human society, where I was bullied, scorned, and abused every day. I wanted it all to end." Tears started falling from her eyes.

"But now that I finally got my wish, I realized how much I still wanted to live," she continued. "I wanted to find friends who cared for me, regardless of what I was. I wanted to find a husband who would live together with me forever. I wanted to live to find people who would accept me. I knew they were out there somewhere, even when everyone laughed at me. I always believed they were. So why, why did I have to die?"

The soul looked at me, her eyes pleading for an answer.

' Damn, I'm gonna regret this later ' I thought

"Listen," I said. "The fact that you've been through all of that pain, and still hold on to your hope and belief that there are good people out there who will accept you, shows that you are an incredible person. You have the capacity to love, to hope, and to forgive, even when you've been wronged. That's something so rare and precious, and it's something that anyone would be lucky to have in a friend or partner. So don't give up on that hope.

"In fact, I think you should consider that perhaps the people who rejected you in the past were not worth your love or attention. They were the ones who were missing out on a wonderful person, not you. So please, keep believing in your ability to find the right person, the person who will accept and love you for who you are. And in the meantime, focus on loving yourself, and taking care of yourself. You deserve that."

I looked at the soul, hoping that my words had reached her.

"But it's too late now, isn't it?" she said, smiling bitterly.

"No, it isn't," I answered. "Come with me. I can give you a new life. One where you'll never have to worry about bullying or abuse anymore. You would have friends who love you regardless of who you are, and you'd be strong enough to silence anyone who tries to look down on you."

The girl looked at me hesitantly, unsure about taking my hand. I could see doubt and uncertainty in her eyes. Nevertheless, I gave her a reassuring smile and took her hand myself.
