Lock the Door

She stared at the pieces of torn paper scattered on the floor before returning her gaze to him.

"What was that for," she feigned a shocked and sad look in her voice and expression.

"Oops! My bad. It was a slip of my fingers," he replied in a flat, dry and sarcastic tone.

"Don't worry, you don't have to apologize, it happens to everyone. I know it off hand so it's not a problem. Let me say it..."

"Oh, please don't bother yourself," he shut her up placing his index finger over her lips. "It'll take a lot of time and energy for you to say all those."

She held his finger and peeled it off her lips before she spoke. "But we're running out of time, in just five days, we'll be married and we haven't done anything yet..."

"Don't think about it, everything's going to be alright," he placed his head on her head and patted it lightly.

Her heart jumped involuntarily and her breathing hitched just from that very simple act of his. He also reacted similarly which left him in a perplexed state. Her mind had gone far when he brought her back.

"Are you okay?"

She looked intently at him and for the first time he felt uncomfortable with those green eyes of hers

He quickly averted his gaze and swallowed a hard lump in his throat.

"What happened? Are you sick?" she asked in an unusual worried, soft tone, staring at the beads of cold sweat forming on his forehead as she used the back of her palm to feel his forehead.

"I'm okay," he said peeling her hand from his face when he gulped.

"Now I'm hungry," she said clutching her stomach which let out a soft growl.

"Is there any time you're not hungry?" he muttered under his breath. He pressed his lips together tightly, forming a thin line across them when he realized that he said that out loud.

"About that... hm. I just eat at least five times a day.

Xavier scanned her lean body within a millisecond and a look of shock flashed through those unfathomable black orbs of his within a split second.

Before the blink of an eye, she snaked her arm around his and pulled him as she walked to exit the office.

" Lock the door," she said when they finally came out.

"I'm not stupid, I was going to lock it,"

"Says the guy that leaves his office without locking it and without a secretary," she replied fixing her gaze on him.

He locked the door wordlessly as if he had not just heard what she said. Ivy was stunned, no one had ever ignored her, but this man... he just treated her like thin air.

As soon as he locked the door, he shoved the keys into his pockets and made sure the security was tight with a security lock. He typed in the password, his brother and Secretary didn't even know it but he typed it in with Ivy standing right beside him.

He started walking towards the elevator as if he didn't know that the lady was still around. This man revealed his password to her but she couldn't even remember because of the state of shock she was in.

'Smart move, Xavier Qin, you successfully made a fool out of me by inputting your password when I was directly looking at it in a dazed situation,' Ivy thought with a bittersweet smile plastered on her face.

He was about to press the button to enter the elevator, but before the blink of an eye, she snaked her slender arm around his muscular arm, making him look at her instantly.

The elevator opened, and she walked inside making him follow along because of the tight grip fixed on his arm.

They entered the elevator, the ride down was getting boring so Ivy decided to keep herself busy by humming a tune to herself which in return made Xavier flinch involuntarily and his gaze traveled from the elevator door to the lady.

His eyes softened and a string of emotion was held in those black orbs and he couldn't help but have a feeling of deja vu. Who is this lady? So many questions were popping out of his head.

The elevator soon came to a halt and the 'ding' coming from it brought him back to the present. His train of thoughts was immediately blocked and his eyes became dark, icy, and cold once again as if all those emotions were just an illusion.

They came out simultaneously still with her arms around his and even though everyone feared this certain duo, Ivy could still sense them shooting daggers of envy and jealousy at them from both men and women.

Ivy walked out and Xavier followed her since their hands were literally tied. They soon came out and were greeted by the wild wind that hit their faces dancing around the land.

"Where's the parking lot?" Ivy asked completely ignoring the presence of the driver standing by the car from afar.

Xavier walked forward, ignoring her question once again.

Although Ivy was a fast walker, Xavier was no match for her, not to mention the fact that he was in heels and had a hard time keeping up with him, she was embarrassed for a while, but her pride wouldn't let her let go of his arm, to the point that she almost ran while trying to keep up with him, but she couldn't do that. Her expression was as calm and cold as ever but her insides were saying a completely different story.

She couldn't take it anymore, so she yanked on his arm, which in turn made him halt and he turned to face her.

Instead of saying anything he just continued to walk in the direction of his driver, when he stopped, it bought her some time to catch her breath even though he was still fast.

They were now close to the driver and Xavier stooped abruptly making her almost bump hard onto his broad back but she was a very calculative woman and stopped just in time at an almost impossible speed and manner to avoid bumping onto him.

She opened her mouth to say something when they were now very close to the driver and Xavier took off again but this time at a much slower speed.

"You're driving, I don't want any driver to disturb our date," she said looking intensely at the driver which made him quiver in fear and Xavier spared her a glance. "Just drive," she continued when he didn't say anything and they were now facing the driver.

The middle-aged man looked at his boss but Xavier gave him a nod of dismissal while he bowed down slightly, giving Xavier the car keys before walking away.

He walked towards the car and opened it, he got inside.

Ivy watched him enter with her arms folded and an arched brow.

Xavier wasn't a fool to not notice the burning gaze of hers fixed on his and he had no time to waste, definitely not on this lady especially when he remembered what happened that night. He just reached out from where he was sitting and opened the passenger's door.

When he opened the door, she just slammed the door shut with a blank, unfathomable expression on her face.

He opened it again but she kept slamming the door shut persistently.

He couldn't waste his time on this woman so he reluctantly came out of the car and opened the passenger's door for her, she went inside with a smile, and of course, he didn't forget to fasten her seatbelt maintaining a two-meter distance away from her.

He stood up wordlessly, and went around the car again and started it.
