chapter 9 sylphy's new master a book on magic circles

Basil's point of view

the next morning I got up I meditated did some of my own personal training. I ate breakfast after breakfast I started training Rudy in the sword. as it turns out he has no talent when it comes to swordsmanship. no matter how hard he tries he just can't seem to get a handle on it. so after a few hours of training I sparred with Dad and I won hands down. I could tell Dad was embarrassed that he couldn't be his 7 year old son. after sparring I asked Rudy if he's ready to meet his new magic disciple. he nods and says okay. we headed off heading towards me and sylphy's training spot. on the way I hear a familiar voices in the distance so I run to see what's going on. when I get there I see sylphy trying to fight off David goons. not half bad if I say so myself. but she is still quite outnumbered by 10 so I decided to step in. I yell "knock it off you guys" David says "go ahead and make me you might be able to take me on but you can't beat us all" I almost laughed and I said "even with all 11 of you it still not a fair fight in your favor" David started yelling " you think you're so special just because you're the knights kid. today me and my friends are going to teach you a lesson" I responded "please don't make me hurt you just leave it's safer for everyone that way" but my plea falls on deaf ears as David yells charge and all 11 kids started running right at me with sticks. I sigh "I really don't want to do this" I prepared myself adjusting my strength so I wouldn't kill them or seriously injure them it just didn't enough to give them a good bruise. I adjusted my saints to a water God style. inserted deflecting every blow that they try to inflict. encountering them in a matter of seconds 11 kids won't lie on the ground nursing their bruises. I tell them "I told you it wouldn't be a fair fight now please leave sylphy alone. I don't want to have to do this again" so me Rudy and sylphy leave I asked sylphy if she was carrying her dad's lunch which she replied yes. I complimented sylphy and how she fought back. Rudy was amazed that I was able to teach her magic and silent casting. after we delivered her father's lunch we went to the tree on a hill that we practice on. there I formally introduced sylphy to Rudy. and said that Rudy was going to be her new magic teacher. sylphy looked at me with sad eyes and said "you're not going to teach me anymore"clearly trying to fight the urge to cry. I replied to her "there's not much more I can teach you so I decided that you needed a better teacher I'm still going to be your friend and if you'd like I can teach you something that I am good at swordsmanship only if you want to learn" she sniffles and says "okay teach me sortsmanship" I nod first magic training then sword training. I wish I was watching sylphy's magic training I was amazed at what I was seeing she's picking up everything Rudy is teaching her it only takes her a few times before she gets it and understands it. after they were we're done with magic practice I begin to teach her the very basics of swordsmanship. although I don't think she's going to be great at it maybe like Rudy she'll be stuck at intermediate. but it won't hurt for her to learn it. after swordsmanship practice we walked sylphy home. my next trip to Roa to visit Eris. me and Eris decided to walk around the city with ghislaine. I came across a merchant who was selling my toys and figures that I made I stopped talk to him and ask them if those toys and figures sell well. the merchant looked at me and said "yes they do there's a traveling merchant that buys them from me and sells them to a prince in shirone that apparently pays very good money for them". where do you get them I asked he said"I get them from a merchant that goes from village to village buying some of their goods and selling his own he charges me three gold coins per figure and toy" I see I said."do you know who makes them I asked the man" "no I don't do you"I replied "yes I do I'm the one who made them" the man decided to make a deal with me if I sell him I figures directly to him he paid me to gold coins for him which I agreed. we went around looked at the armory I watched some of the adventures go by and came across a bookstore and I decided to browse and there I find a book about magic circles kind of expensive but thanks to me selling my figures and toys. and helping around the village I had more than enough to purchase it. so that night I decided to read it. it was fascinating the things that you could do with magic circles the magic implements you could create it got me very excited I ended up not sleeping at all. the next morning it was time for me to pack up and get ready for the track home but before that I wanted to do some last minute shopping there were materials that I wanted to get. I wanted to try to make some magical implements at home and maybe create a few spell scrolls. so I did just that but quite a few things some more clothes some stuff to make spell scrolls in a few items to experiment on after that I was on my way home. when I got home I greeted mom Dad and Aunt Lilia. told him about how my time went there and how much fun I had. I asked Mom where Rudy was she says that he was out with Sylphiette. I so I went to the training spot and greeted them sylphy gives me a hug saying that I she's glad I'm back. Rudy just says welcome back I asked him how things were going and so they told me what happened while I was gone. and after they finish their magic training they started their swordsman training after that we took sylphy back to her house and then headed for our own where we had dinner we bathed and then went to bed.
