Chapter 85: Power Station

They made their way out of the cornfields and approached the main road. James looked up and he could see a large pylon tower. He knew he had to go there later. 

He turned to the right and headed down the road. He made sure that the Humvee was always in sight. "I can keep an eye on the Humvee," Jasmine offered. 

James nodded and drove down the path. He avoided the burnt cars on the road. James drove for a few minutes until he saw something in the distance. 

"I can see it ahead," James said. 

Jasmine looked in front and saw lights in the distance. "I can see something as well," Jasmine replied. 

They both drove and went past the fog and stopped. James looked at the building where the top floor was half destroyed. There were bricks scattered everywhere. They could see cable running everywhere on overhead lines. There were substations in front of the building. Next to the building there was a small patch of grass. Behind the grass there was a small shed. It was a cube shaped building with a triangular roof. 

James stopped and got off the bike. Jasmine also hopped off. "This place gives me the shivers," Jasmine commented. 

"I will be with you the entire time," James replied, placing a hand on her shoulder. 

"I know you will," Jasmine responded. At that moment, Lois pulled in with the humvee. She stopped to the side of James`s bike. They all exited the vehicle.

"Where are we now?" Rei asked. 

"It looks like a power station," Saya replied, looking at the substation. 

"An old and abandoned one," Saeko added.

"Shizuka is still asleep," Yuriko commented. 

 "Fast asleep, after someone," Lois added. 

Saya sighed. "He is never focused or serious," Saya said. 

"You are right, sometimes, I am not serious," James said as he walked to Saya and grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into a hug towards him. They both looked at each other. "Am I serious?" he asked. 

Saya looked flustered and pushed James back. "Not that serious," she remarked. "You are," Saya added. 

"Aaarrrh," they heard. Saeko saw glowing blue eyes. They saw a zombie approaching them. Saeko ran towards the zombie and swung her blade, Slasher, as she sliced cleanly through his neck. His head went flying off. 

"Danna-sama, we should get moving and romance with Saya later," Saeko said. 

"Romance!" Saya shouted. James chuckled as he left Saya, looking red. The hug was not bad. 

"If Saya is not into it, then I don't mind," Rei volunteered. 

"I am first," Saya quickly said. Everyone laughed

"James, me and Lois will stay near the vehicles and Shizuka," Yuriko said. 

"Big," Shizuka muttered in her sleep. 

"Okay everyone else with me, let's go inside," James said. 

"Where is the entrance?" Rei asked as she looked at the building. 

"It's in that shed," James replied. They all walked to the shed. James saw it looked old. The wooden boards were falling apart. He looked behind it and found a weapon. It was a compact firearm, with a short barrel capped with a distinctive flash suppressor. It had a metal side-folding stock extended. The rifle's handguard was made from a durable polymer. The gun had adjustable iron sights. "AK-74u," James said. 

"We keep getting more and more guns," Rei commented.

"They are all unique," Jasmine said. 

"I'll hold onto this one and put it in the humvee later," James said, looking at the AK-74u. 

They all nodded. Saeko looked into the shed. She saw the wooden wall in front of her. She looked to the left and right and there were walls. She then looked down and saw light. "There is something down there," Saeko shouted out. 

James, Rei and Saya approached her and looked down. "Yeah it's here," James confirmed. James and Saeko jumped down. They saw it was clear. James looked behind and saw the power symbol. He thought of Pack-a-punch. James thought maybe there was another way to access this. 

"Let me help you down," James said. 

Rei jumped down. "I can make a drop like this," Rei said with a smile on her face.

"I can as well," Saya said, jumping down. The three women looked at each other. 

James looked to see a large power board behind them. He smiled and picked it up. "Okay, let's keep moving," James said. 

"What is that?" Rei asked. 

"It used to build the power circuit for this place," James replied. 

They all nodded and walked down the corridor until they reached the main room. They saw a large cylinder shaped device in the middle. "This is not what you see in a typical power station," Saeko commented. 

"It looks like a nuclear reactor," Saya said. 

"Nuclear Reactor?" Jasmine asked. 

"It used to make electricity or power dangerous if you are too close," Rei responded. 

They walked down around the reactor. Rei was scanning the area to check for any threats. AS they walked around, James spotted the lever on the floor. "Could someone grab that please?" James requested. 

"He is saying please," Saya smirked. 

"For one," Rei added. 

"I will get it Danna-sama," Saeko replied as she picked up the lever. 

 They continued and headed to the control room. The control room had a control panel on either side and another work bench. James and Saeko walked towards and put it down. He then walked over to the control panel and picked up the zombie hand.

"Ewwww," Rei said.

"That is disgusting," Saya said. 

"Gross," Jasmine added. 

"It will be needed," James said as he put the hand on the bench. There was a bright light. The girl looked away. They heard the sounds of spanners and hammers going off. 

"Is it done?" Jasmine asked. 

They all looked back to see a power switch with a handle created. "Time to turn it on," James said. "Who wants to do the honour?" James asked. 

James looked around and the girls looked at each other and up in the ceiling or down on the floor. "Fine, I will do it," James chuckled. He turned the switch on. 

There was a jolt of electricity. The facility made some noise. "What is going on?" Rei asked.

"Earthquake?" Saeko asked.

"No, look there," Saya pointed to the reactor. They saw streaks of lightning coming out around the middle structure. A centre glass cylinder rose out. They could see a figure shaped like a man but he was blue and looked like he was made of electricity. He was there one second and disappeared.

"He is gone," Jasmine said. 

"What was that?" Rei asked. 

"The Avogadro," James replied. "He was a man who got corrupted and transformed into that," James explained. 

"This world is strange," Jasmine remarked. 

"He is going to be trouble for us," Rei said. 

"Yeah, his weakness, his swords, or the galvaknuckles," James added. 

"They saw a shutter door to their left had opened. "Now, let's turn off the power," James said.
