Hunter Exam Part 1

Ren-"So this. is Whale Island, it's quite peaceful, isn't it?"

The view of the ocean is breathtaking. The clear blue oceans couldn't be more different from the oceans back home.

Freya-"So true. A world still relatively free of pollution."

Renn and Frey posted their applications for the hunter examination. The boat is set to come in 3 days from today.

{Ren POV}

I am so hyped for this. This was one of my favourite worlds. Today is the day the hunter exam begins. For the past 3 days, we have just been sightseeing and just having fun.

"Ren, hurry up, the ship is about to leave!" said Freya.

"Coming!"

The ship is pretty ordinary. No one really paid us any attention. There were some brutes who taunted us for being kids but they immediately shut up. As the ship left, a cute green-haired girl approached us, "Hey, you guys are pretty young, the exam is no joke, you know." said the enthusiastic girl."

Ren- "Speak for yourself, girl"

"Don't mind him, that's just the way he is. By the way, I'm Freya and he is Ren Kusanagi" said Freya cheerfully.

"Oh, I am Gene Freecs. Nice to meet you" says the tomboy while shaking our hands.

Wait what, Gon's a female??? Well, some things are bound to be different.

Suddenly, Gene looks out into the sea and says, "The wind is. tepid and salty and the seagulls are calling out warnings. There's a storm coming"

The Captain looking impressed asks, "You can understand the seagulls?"

"Kind of... The storm's a big one and will be here in 2-3 hours," said Gene.

The Captain realizing who Gene's father was showed a look of admiration.

"That's a pretty cool skill, nee Gene, how do you do it?" asked Freya with genuine admiration. Of course, Freya and I can understand any creature but a normal human, it is impressive, to say the least.

"You know when you..., I guess." said gene sheepishly. I couldn't help but smile. There truly is something special about this girl. You won't know it unless you experience it yourself.

As soon as the captain announced that there is a major storm ahead, the people who were already seasick took the lifeboats and made their way to the nearest Island. In the end, other than the crew, there were only 5 people left including me.

The captain invited us to the cabin and said," So there are only the 5 of you left huh, give me your names."

"Ren Kusanagi"; " Freya here😁"; "I'm Gene!"; "Call me Kurapica"; "The name's Leorio"

Gene enthusiastically raises her hand and exclaimed: "My dad's a hunter and I want to follow in his footsteps!"

"Woah there. Kid! Don't spill so easily. Show some solidarity." said Leorio.

"If you haven't realized already, our exam has. already started and the captain is our first examiner." I said.

"Huuuuuuhhhhhhh!!!" said Leorio.

"Hahaha, How'd ya guess kid!" said the captain, clearly impressed.

"There are millions of people who apply every year. The association doesn't have the time or resource to entertain everyone. It's pretty obvious when you think about it." I replied.

After that, Leorio and Kuropica didn't require much coercion.

"Freya and want to be hunters so as to be able to explore the world and the hunter licence seems. pretty useful in doing so." I said.

Leorio smiles and says," Of course, it is to make money. Why else would anyone want to become a hunter?"

Kuropica-"I. want to become. a hunter to capture the 'Phantom Troupe'. That gang of robbers killed my brethren years ago!" said Kuropica as his eyes turned red.

Nothing much happened. Kuropica and Leorio fought a bit but seemed to have made up through some antics Gene performed.
