Memories

"What exactly do you mean by 'absorb his soul'?" Feng Lou asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Absorbing his soul means to take in his essence and his power," replied the Chaos Bell. "It would grant you access to his knowledge, his abilities, and his experiences."

"So basically, I'll inherit his powers and memories. Won't that alter who I am?" Feng Lou asked with a hint of apprehension. Soon, a message from the Chaos Bell reassured him: "The memories and knowledge you'll absorb won't change your essence. Think of it as a library you can access at will, browsing and discarding as you choose."

"Is that so? Then I'll trust you," Feng Lou said, though a trace of fear lingered. Yet, ultimately, he decided to place his trust in the Chaos Bell. After all, who else could he rely on?

As Feng Lou issued the command, the Chaos Bell sprung into action, swiftly absorbing the soul of the skeleton mage. In mere moments, the transfer was complete, and Feng Lou could feel the influx of memories and powers flooding into his consciousness.

As Feng Lou delved into the memories, he found himself transported to an era long before humanity's dominion over the world. In this pristine age, the earth flourished with breathtaking forests, majestic rivers, and a harmonious balance of life. The skeleton mage, witnessing this beauty and tranquility, decided to enter a deep slumber, believing that the world would remain unspoiled upon his awakening.

But when the mage had awoken from his slumber. Roaming the earth, the mage witnessed the once pristine landscapes tarnished by pollution, violence, and neglect. The memories revealed his growing frustration and anger at humanity's disregard for the beauty of the planet. He watched as once beautiful forests were razed, rivers polluted, and wildlife driven to extinction.

Each passing day fueled the mage's resentment towards humanity, his resolve hardening with each environmental catastrophe he witnessed. Despite his efforts to warn and guide them, humanity seemed oblivious to the impending doom they were bringing upon themselves and the planet.

With each memory, Feng Lou could feel the mage's anguish and despair. It was this deep-seated anger and sense of duty that ultimately led the mage to enact his drastic measures to protect the planet, even if it meant resorting to extreme and ruthless methods.

Witnessing the pristine beauty of the world before humanity's ascent, Feng Lou couldn't help but question his actions. Did he make the right choice by intervening in the affairs of this world, or should he have left it to its natural course?

As Feng Lou pondered his decision, a message from the Chaos Bell interrupted his thoughts. It whispered in his mind, "Every choice shapes the course of destiny. Embrace the path you have chosen, for it is through your actions that the fate of humanity will be determined".

With those words resonating in his mind, Feng Lou grasped the gravity of his role. He understood that wielding the Chaos Bell meant he would inevitably become a central figure in humanity. Being the central figure meant he had to aid humanity, no matter what. He wondered whether this world's humans were descendants of Nuwa's creation from the prehistoric era or if they were something entirely new. However, he couldn't find a definite answer. Still, he was determined to protect them from any danger.

In addition to that he couldn't shake the question of why he, specifically, had been chosen. What set him apart from others? Was there something unique about the human race that made them the ideal candidates for wielding such artificat? Or perhaps it was simply a matter of circumstance, with fate weaving its intricate threads. Despite the uncertainty, Feng Lou couldn't deny the weight of responsibility that now rested on his shoulders.

Feng Lou queried the Chaos Bell, "Why did you choose me as your master?" The response came swiftly, "Nothing special, you were simply there at the right moment." Yet, Feng Lou couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to it than that. The notion of an artifact lying to its master seemed inconceivable, leaving him to ponder whether the Chaos Bell possessed powers beyond comprehension.

Setting aside his questions for the moment, Feng Lou delved into the memories of the Skeleton Mage, his mind focused on a singular purpose: to uncover the cure for the zombie virus and any clues that might lead him to the creator of the Skeleton Mage.

Feng Lou searched for information about the creator of the Skeleton Mage but found nothing. It seemed like someone had purposely erased any memory of the mage's origin, leaving Feng Lou puzzled.

Soon in the depths of the Skeleton Mage's memories, Feng Lou found the origins of the zombie virus. It was conceived through a 9th-level death spell known as the "Eclipse of Souls".

Going further into the memories of the Skeleton Mage, Feng Lou discovered a glimmer of hope. Although there was no cure for the zombie virus, there existed a spell known as the "Ethereal Barrier," capable of bestowing immunity upon those who were still uninfected.

Feng Lou rose to his feet and made his way outside to rejoin the others.

Probably the last chapter of the day.
