'This is absurd! Totally absurd!' Xia Jiannan involuntarily shuddered at that ridiculous thought.
What pampered wife?!
He would definitely be a doting husband, just like his father!
But despite his adamant insistence on being the doting husband, the mere fact that the idea of being a pampered wife had somehow taken root in his consciousness was something to ponder on.
Xia Jiannan stood there looking in a daze, not noticing that Wang Rouxi had walked over to where he was standing.
"CEO Xia?" Wang Rouxi bent her waist slightly, her face inching closer to his so she could get his attention away from the ground.
Xia Jiannan shook his head and it was then that he noticed how close they were at the moment. Di Yi's almost ladylike features were magnified in his eyes.
His long and thick eyelashes, his sharp nose, his thin but extremely kissable lips...
Xia Jiannan frowned as he took a step back to create a distance between them.
"Is there something wrong, CEO Xia?" Wang Rouxi straightened up and asked worriedly.
"Nothing."
He gave a small smile and walked past Wang Rouxi to the seat she offered earlier. "Thank you."
Wang Rouxi tilted her head to the side, then shrugged her shoulders as she made her way over and sat opposite Xia Jiannan.
Mr. Liang stood rooted to the spot. He was now starting to worry about his life because he knew that he should not have been privy to this secret relationship.
"Mr. Liang." The frightened manager stiffened when he heard his name. "Kindly have the food served now. CEO Xia and I are looking forward to tasting the specialties of Hao Hua."
"Y-yes, Mr. Di."
With shaking hands, Mr. Liang pulled out a rectangular object from his pocket and pressed some buttons.
In the next second, waiters wearing formal black and white uniforms came in one after another, each one of them holding a gourmet dish in their hands.
Xia Jiannan was pleasantly surprised and he looked at Wang Rouxi curiously as if silently asking her why she ordered a lot of food.
Meeting his gaze, Wang Rouxi instantly understood what he was thinking, and she then revealed a sheepish smile, "I hope you didn't mind me ordering for you, CEO Xia. I ordered in advance so we can eat as soon as we arrive here. You can choose which ones you would like to eat, I ordered a lot!"
Xia Jiannan did not know whether to laugh or cry.
But then, his suspicions grew.
This Di Yi and 'her' were just too similar!
After setting up the table, the well-trained waiters bowed then left as quickly as they came.
"These are the specialties of Hao Hua. I hope you enjoy it!" Mr. Liang was all smiles while he introduced each food.
"This Shrimp in Phyllo Cups..."
"This Rustic Tuscan Pepper Bruschetta..."
"This Sweet Pea Pesto Crostini..."
...
He started off by introducing the various appetizers one by one, detailing the ingredients used and even the nutritional value of each food.
He was about to go on to discuss the soups but Wang Rouxi held up her hand to stop him. "Mr. Liang."
"Yes, Mr. Di?"
"You would make a good guide for wedding food tasting." She said matter-of-factly.
Mr. Liang once again froze upon hearing this compliment, which offhandedly mentioned their plan of marriage.
'So this is the thing that CEO Xia asked me to arrange for! He had been vague in telling me about the specifics, it turns out that the event is for their wedding! No wonder he told me to keep it under wraps.' Nodding his head in realization, Mr. Liang seemed to have unraveled the greatest mystery in the world.
A bright smile made its way on his face and he bowed his head to Wang Rouxi. "Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Di. I just remembered that there is something I needed to attend to."
Mr. Liang handed a square-shaped object to Wang Rouxi and also regarded Xia Jiannan. "If there is anything, you can press this button here. This is a bell connected to my office. I will be able to send someone to attend to your needs right away."
After that was said, Mr. Liang left the two alone inside the private booth.
He needed to make the proper adjustments for the wedding event!
As he was walking towards his office, some of the employees approached him.
"Good afternoon, Manager Liang! Are you alright?"
"Manager Liang, are you okay? Do take care of yourself!"
"Sir, don't overwork yourself! Take some rest if you don't feel well."
Huh?
Was there something wrong with him?
Mr. Liang's brows were drawn together and he raised his hand to feel his forehead. He's burning up! No, no, no! That can't be! He was perfectly fine just now!
Then why was he...
Could it be because of CEO Xia and Mr. Di?
'Well, the two of them make a great couple...' Mr. Liang subconsciously thought.
He didn't just think that the two of them look quite good together, did he?!
Mr. Liang shook his head and slapped himself a few times to clear his mind. Fortunately, no one was around or else they might think that their manager was losing his mind.
He fastened his walking pace and reached his office in record time. He decided to bury himself with work so he would not think about THAT.
But it would be hard not to think about THAT because he had to make the appropriate adjustments for the wedding event. CEO Xia had told him that this was an extremely important event so he did not dare be negligent about any details.
A blush crept up his neck as his mind drifted off to the two beautiful men he left inside VIP Booth No. 2. He wondered what the two of them could be possibly doing right now. He just hoped that they would not really call for him this time though.
"Cough... cough..." Mr. Liang choked on his saliva.
He really needed to stop his teenage daughter from reading stuff like this. Although he would often check on their contents to see if the plotline of those BL stories were passable, still...
"Surely, Mr. Xia should definitely be the one on top, right?" He murmured to himself.
Remembering those snippets from the stories his daughter was reading, Mr. Liang found himself imagining a rather steamy scene happening inside VIP Booth No. 2.
"Wait, what am I doing?" The manager scolded himself.
