Star Bar
It's the most luxurious bar in Ningjiang City, gathering the rich and anyone whose consumption for just one evening equals a lifetime for the average person.
Tang Yan sat in the center of the private room, legs crossed, his gaze hazy as he swirled the glass in his hand.
"You always say you're busy when I invite you out, so why are you so available today?"
The speaker was Second Young Master Song, Song Qi, a notable figure among the scions of wealthy families, his days filled with nothing but indulgence in food, drink, and pleasure.
Tang Yan, aloof by nature, had few friends, yet he had somehow become close friends with Song Qi.
"When Second Young Master Song invites, of course I must show my respect," Tang Yan said with a meaningful smile, the curve at the corner of his lips utterly charming.
Song Qi silently cursed in his heart; if Tang Yan were a woman, he would definitely pursue him.
Of course, he wouldn't say that to Tang Yan's face, knowing full well how terrifying the man could be.
When Song Qi first met Tang Yan, he was only eight years old, saw his fair skin and beautiful features, and thought he was a girl.
He bounded up only to learn from a punch from Tang Yan that there were indeed boys who were this good-looking.
"Quit the sweet talk, does Young Master Tang even notice me?" Song Qi pouted, like a little wife who had been abandoned.
As he spoke, the door to the private room was pushed open, and Jiang Wei entered, dressed in a tight black velvet dress and carrying a diamond-studded handbag, immediately drawing all eyes to her.
Heiress to Jiang Group, a heavenly beauty, she boasted a celebrity-like appearance and figure, as if all the world's good fortune were hers alone.
"Oh! Miss Jiang is here!"
Someone in the crowd immediately welcomed her, and others echoed the sentiment, although Tang Yan and Song Qi remained seated.
Song Qi was puzzled; he had organized this gathering but hadn't invited Jiang Wei.
"You're not here for her, are you?" Song Qi widened his eyes, not sure whether Tang Yan was attracted or planning an alliance with the Jiang Family.
Before Tang Yan could speak, Jiang Wei boldly sat next to him, her black dress accentuating her fair skin, her long legs slanted towards Tang Yan.
"Young Master Tang, when are you getting married to Jiang Wei? We should prepare our gifts too," a slick-haired man spoke up, his eyes filled with curiosity and scrutiny.
His name was Zheng Hao, not from a particularly powerful family, but he was Jiang Wei's cousin and could pull some strings with the Jiang Family; plus, he was good at currying favor, so nobody minded an extra sycophant.
Jiang Wei shyly lowered her head, the others all looked on in surprise.
No one had heard about any marriage alliance between Tang Family and Jiang Family, this would be big news in Ningjiang, yet they knew nothing about it.
Even Song Qi found no hint of it coming; he leaned towards Tang Yan and whispered, "Brother! You can't be serious, getting engaged and you didn't even tell me?"
Tang Yan put down his glass, subtly avoiding Jiang Wei's approach, his eyes icy as he fixed them on Zheng Hao.
Though infrequent in their dealings with Tang Yan, everyone knew he was a dangerous man; his expressionless face might mean you could disappear from Ningjiang in the next moment.
The door opened and the bar manager came in, approaching Tang Yan, "Young Master Tang, a Miss Jin is outside asking to see you, I've asked her to wait in the main hall."
"Bring her in," he said.
"Okay."
Watching the door, Tang Yan's mouth curled into an amused smile; the person he was waiting for had finally arrived.
As for the marriage between Tang and Jiang Families, Tang Yan couldn't care less; perhaps one day he might choose to marry, but it would be on his own terms, not forced by anyone.
