Chapter Two

Mother knows best

My name is Alfred omobolanle, I like being called Fred, Am the only child of both parents, CEO of my family company

It all started April 17 2017 I remember clearly, I was at Victory hospital that night

I think about 8:30pm, I was in a hurry, I had just missed my appointment with the

Doctor but I was hoping to Atleast see him so we could reschedule

When I got the countertop, there was nobody there, I just didn't understand

How could they live the counter empty? I was about leaving when I saw (monalisa)

About her that I just couldn't put my hands on. She was in uniform obviously a nurse, I walked up to her with no exhaustion

Hi good evening' I greeted

Good evening sir, can I help you?

She looked so tired but also very determined.

"Yes please, I can't find any of the nurses on the counter and I really need...

Before I could finish she rushed to counter to see for herself

" Omg sir have you been waiting long?"

"No Not really"

"Am so sorry, please what is your emergency?"

Looking at her I was quite stunned because from her eyes I could see how determined she was and to be sincere I wasn't attracted to her at first.

"No it's not am emergency, actually I had an appointment with doctor Albert a few hours ago, I don't know if he is still available.... Is he?

" Am sorry sir, you missed him. He just left the hospital a few minutes ago" she informed me.

I was beyond frustrated, I banged my hands on the counter subconsciously, realising I scared her, I quickly apologize.

"Am sorry it's just this is the seventh time in the past three months that I have missed my scheduled check up, that's bad right?"

I looked at her knowing she would be stun and I was right, she was speechless

"Mr.....

"Alfred" I quickly responded

"Mr Alfred, bad is an understatement, it's horrible. You know you are putting your health in danger right?"

Before I could answer, some ladies walked in and from Lisa's look And their uniform I was quick to understand that they were the nurses placed on the counter

" Where have you girls been?" She asked looking angry, before they could even lament she quickly gave judgment

" You know what let's have this talk later". she then turns to me

" Mr Alfred am very worried about you"

I know, it's just my schedule checkups are always evening and towards in the evening it's either am in a meeting or am busy preparing for one so it just makes it impossible for me to make it". I took a deep breath as I had explained myself in a rush

" Well in that case, you can come to the hospital tomorrow morning so we can reschedule you and also that's the only time doctor Albert will be available this week"

"Really" I exclaimed, what time? I asked

" Let's say 9:30am"

" Oh thank you so much, you are a life saver"

" Am just doing my job, am glad I could be helpful to you". she replied with a smile

" Thanks" you look like your shift is over, can I give you a lift?

Usually am not the type that furthers conversations but with her(monalisa) I didn't know why I felt comfortable with her.

"No you don't have to" she replied feeling reluctant but I knew it was late and she didn't really have a choice, so presisted

"Please I insist" I presisted

" Ok just let me get my things ok"

"Ok I'll be waiting" I sat on the hospita chair waiting for her, I knew she had to quarrel with those nurses. In less than a minute she came back.

" Ok am ready let's go"

Ok I almost forgot, I didn't get your name?

" Oh it's monalisa but you can call me lisa"

So I gave her a ride home and dropped her off at her apartment and then drove home, while I was still at the hospital my mother had been calling me, even while Lisa was in the car, being an only child my mom didn't want to accept that I was all grown up . At my age my mother would still call and worry like I don't know my way home. I later got home some minutes pass ten

" Oh my goodness, thank God you are safe" my mother rush to hug me upon seeing me. "I was just about to call the police, I was worried sick and you didn't even pick my calls, baby you scared me"

"Mom an fine I promise ok"

"Are you sure? My mom asked looking worried

"Mother can you even hear yourself? You want to call the police that your 33 years old son is missing because he didn't pick your call this evening? Really mom?"

My father immediately started laughing uncontrollably

"Father can you hear your wife?" I jokingly asked my father, who was now laughing uncontrollably

"I have talked and talked and I am tired (turns to my mother) Tracy your son Is a grown man please stop" he continued laughing

" I don't care he is still my baby" my mother pouted as she continue to stand her ground

" Love you too mother" hugs her

" You must hungry, don't worry momma's got you, I prepared your favourite"

" It's ok mom, I already ate, I'll just go to bed now"

" Oh ok good night baby" I could sense the disappointment in her voice but I choose to ignore it because I was just too tired Nd I just wanted to sleep

"Night" I replied as I made my way to my room.
