Chapter 1: The beginning

[General POV]

Lucas gazed out of the window of his small room, watching the raindrops fall. They trickled down the glass, echoing a melancholic melody that perfectly matched the emptiness he felt within. The small town he lived in seemed suffocating.

Lucas grew up in a tiny, impoverished, and forgotten town where difficulties were frequent. From a young age, he learned the value of hard work and the resilience needed to face life's adversities.

His mother, Janet, was his source of love and support, an inspiring figure who always encouraged him to pursue his dreams. She had an angelic voice and would often sing to him on starry nights, bringing a touch of magic to his challenging reality.

He glanced at the old dusty guitar resting in a corner of the room. The worn-out strings were a perfect metaphor for his own existence.

When Lucas was just 10 years old, his mother tragically passed away. This devastating loss left a void in his heart and his life. He found himself alone in the world.

Since then, he found himself trapped in a difficult relationship with his father, an alcoholic and authoritarian man. His father's disapproving words and unrealistic expectations weighed heavily on his shoulders, like chains that kept him imprisoned.

With his mother's absence, the responsibility of providing for the family fell on Lucas's young shoulders. Financial hardships became a constant presence in their lives, and every day was a battle to put food on the table.

Despite the hardships, Lucas never let go of music. He found solace and strength in his guitar, dedicating hours on end to honing his musical skills. Every note he played was a reminder of the love and memories he shared with his mother.

Facing the challenge of moving forward, Lucas strove to overcome adversity and fight for a better future. He studied diligently, seeking opportunities for education and growth. Music became his escape, a refuge where he could express his deepest emotions and find hope amidst the difficulties.

Sometimes, he also watched some series, movies, and animes that his few friends recommended when he had some free time. Which was quite rare in his life.

With his developing voice and growing talent for singing, Lucas began to dream of a career in music. He believed that his voice could touch hearts, convey emotions, and inspire others facing similar battles.

Gradually, Lucas started performing at small local events, sharing his music with the community around him. His performances were a blend of talent, passion, and emotion, and he realized that music had the power to bring people together and foster a sense of connection.

It was during one of these performances that a disaster occurred, completely changing Lucas's life.

...

[Lucas's POV]

The dark night envelops the stage as I prepare for my performance. I feel the anxiety pulsing through my veins, mixed with an exhilarating dose of anticipation. The lights come on, revealing the sea of expectant faces before me.

With the guitar in my hands, I close my eyes for a moment, seeking that spark of courage that brought me here. I take a deep breath, allowing the music to flow through my mind, and begin strumming the first chords. Each note resonates in my soul, taking me to a place of deep emotion.

My fingers glide confidently across the strings, guided by the melody that emanates from within me. I feel the music pulsating in every fiber of my being, connecting me with each person in the audience. It's an intimate dance between my voice and the guitar, a language that transcends words.

As I was about to start singing, a sudden dizziness overtakes me. The world around me seems to spin in a blurry haze, and my legs begin to weaken. It all happens so quickly that I can barely comprehend what is going on.

And then, everything goes dark.

When I open my eyes again, I see a familiar yet unfamiliar room. It takes a moment to orient myself, trying to understand what has happened. I touch my face and realize that something is different, and my voice sounds different when I call my own name.

I quickly rush out of the room and go to the bathroom to look at myself in the mirror. Don't ask me how I knew the way to the bathroom. Everything feels so natural yet strange at the same time.

Panic sets in my chest as I see my reflection in the mirror. I no longer see the face I've been familiar with since birth.

I see the reflection of a young person, about 14 years old, with shoulder-length blond hair and crystal blue eyes.

Although I am completely unfamiliar with this face, I still feel a sense of familiarity, as if a part of me finds it normal and natural.

Slowly, I begin to assimilate the reality. I am no longer on stage. I am no longer in my own body. I am trapped in an unknown reality, in someone else's body.

Confusion and disbelief battle for space in my mind. How is this possible? What has happened to me?

I feel my heart race with the strangeness and adrenaline of the situation. How can I deal with this? How can I find my way back home?

Although the thought of going back home came and went as quickly as it arrived. What would I gain by going back home?

I've always had a mediocre and miserable life, an alcoholic and authoritarian father who was good for absolutely nothing but tormenting my life.

After my mother's passing, my life has been a downhill slope.

Thinking of her, I feel a tightening in my chest, but I ignore it and focus on my current situation.

As I try to reflect on this new reality, a mixture of curiosity takes hold of me. I feel like a stranger in an unknown land, but I also realize that this is a unique opportunity for growth and discovery.

Although I sense glimpses of memories that are not mine slowly returning to my mind, everything is still very unknown to me.

It seems that the previous owner of this body was named Alan, Alan Miller.

Well, that's not a bad name, after all.

I begin to explore the house to gather more information about my situation and come across something that catches my attention.

In the room where I was before, which appears to be mine, there is a guitar resting on the bed. It seems that the previous owner of this body also enjoyed singing, huh.

Feeling motivated, I decide to take the guitar and take a walk around the neighborhood.

...

[General POV]

As Lucas walked through the streets of the neighborhood, he reflected on his tumultuous childhood. He remembered the disapproving gazes of his father, echoing in his mind.

The sun was high in the sky, and the weather was pleasant. Lucas decided to take a break in a park. He sat on a wooden bench, with the guitar resting on his legs.

He closed his eyes for a moment, allowing the sounds of nature to surround him. He felt at ease, and in that moment, he found the courage to express emotions that had been suppressed for so long.

With trembling fingers, Lucas began playing the first chords of a song that resonated deeply with his own story. The singer of this song was one of his favorites, though Lucas didn't know if he existed in this new world.

His notes echoed along with the sounds of the surroundings, filling the park with a gentle and introspective melody.

Then, he started to sing. His voice, filled with restrained emotion, floated in the air like a solitary sigh.

Song: "Fix You" by Coldplay.

♪ "When you try your best, but you don't succeed"

"When you get what you want, but not what you need"

"When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep"

As Lucas sang, his voice carried the feelings of a life marked by struggle. Each word resonated in his heart, reminding him of the times he had given his all but still fell short of his goals. He felt as though he was trapped in a cycle of disappointments, a sense of moving backward when all he wanted was to move forward.

♪ "And the tears come streaming down your face"

"When you lose something you can't replace"

"When you love someone, but it goes to waste"

"Could it be worse?" ♪

While Lucas sang the chorus, silent tears streamed down his face. Each verse brought forth the wounds of loss. He remembered the pain of losing his mother, of loving someone who could no longer be by his side. The music became an outlet for his grief and a source of hope amid the darkness.

As the music swelled, Lucas felt a surge of renewal and hope. He was determined to move forward.

With strengthened resolve, Lucas rose from the bench and walked away, continuing his journey to find his voice and purpose in music. Each step he took was propelled by the melody of his own soul, a song that had the power to heal, connect, and transform.

...

Unbeknownst to Lucas, there was a young girl hiding among the bushes in the park, holding a cellphone with its camera aimed at the bench where Lucas had been sitting.

She stood frozen in awe.

After a while, she snapped out of her daze and sent the video she had captured to a few friends to share what she had witnessed.

Lucas had no idea of the impact his small song would have, and he returned home to reflect on his next steps.
