Our operation against the capital has been going well, for the first week it was business as usual and a much-needed vacation for Satou as more merchant caravans were raided along the road, and travellers were stripped of their weapons and possessions further enhancing his own armies military might and further fattening up his own purse.
There were times when no raiding occurred but instead, a scare tactic was used on simple travellers who looked to just be running to the capital in hopes of a better life, they didn't have much, to begin with, and would only fall to slavery if that was taken and then they were turned away.
But as for the greedy merchants who possess abused slaves they were stripped bare and sent packing alongside their subordinates while the newly freed slaves were given the same choice as those captured before to either be provided for and released or to join up with the monster army and the eventual founding of a sanctuary.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The embargo of goods to the capital has been going on now for 10 days since we returned and it's getting really boring, the number of merchants arriving is dropping day by day to the point that theirs almost nothing to do, as a gamer Satou was going stir crazy just sitting there managing his army.
Having come to a decision he set off with Kurama who looked like she was dressed up for a bank heist with a bandana wrapped around her face.
This was to save her from the debilitating smells present within the sewer tunnels.
The pair were actively walking through, thanks to Satou's mini-map the tunnels were being accurately mapped so there was little to no risk of being lost, but as for adversary there were only 2 monsters one could fight down in the sewers and for a player of Satou's level slimes, and in some cases even skeletons or zombies were located.
Seems that the sewers were being used to dispose of all sorts of the resident's waste.
As one who aspires to be a Top level necromancer having found skeletons and zombies was a bit of a godsend as this meant Satou could use their cards to summon his own undead familiars without needing to meet the level requirement, as it stood now he was a Warlock on the verge of ranking up once things settled down enough, he already met the level requirement, but for his plans remaining as a warlock for now seemed best as each time he ranked up his card summons would change alongside him and the cards he planned to use could change making his current plans worthless.
As he performed a public service of roaming the sewer tunnels clearing out the masses of slimes and occasional undead.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Days turned into weeks, and now over a month had passed, the sewer system had been completely cleansed in one sense that there was nary a monster left roaming their tunnels but instead the waste of the residents had built up to the point they were no longer fit to traverse any longer.
So Satou and his undead elite guards had ceased their extermination operations.
The undead unit was made entirely of Skeletons, but each had been evolved from commons to uncommon's and given equipment from the guards they'd take armour and weapons from so they were certainly a tight-knit unit at this point that seems to have a learning function in their code as they'd easily watch as Satou fought in the sewer system and could be seen trying to mimic his fighting style themselves from time to time.
The goblins had suffered a few more losses when the knights would sortie but nowadays the knights themselves seemed to be holed up in the city and didn't attempt to break out.
Had someone managed to get out and send a request for an army to break their encirclement?
Or were they just at a loss for how to deal with this situation and had resigned themselves to die in this place?
It mattered little thanks to being starved out of their rations and the lack of further action by the knights it was time to move the plan into its next phase.
Heracles was standing by to lead the hundred or so surviving Hellenics who'd been provided for and that was living in hiding to escape the city, meanwhile, Satou would assume the mantle of a Hellenic Apostle to have a little chat with the leader of the church to secure the Hellenic's wellbeing within these lands.
After all, Satou was only one person, surely he had Summons but only the high-ranked ones were intelligent and he only had a few of those not enough to monitor the entirety of the kingdom and surrounding lands.
For the moment he would save those who'd asked for his help, spend a bit more time laying a foundation for a safe place they can reside and then continue his journey to locate Raisa, since he'd hit a max level not only was he awaiting a Class rank up but alongside that, there would be a new DLC released for his skill as well, and surely Raisa would be interested in both DLC's items he had access to.
As the final night wore on, Satou took up his residency high in one of the forest canopies where a simple treefort had been assembled from his chair on the terrace he looked out at the cityscape before his eyes, the lights that once dotted it's terrain in the beginning now was only illuminated by the twin moons light, the only building still to be seen with light at night was the church, no it was large enough it should surely be a cathedral.
Those in power are all the same, though the castle is not illuminated, does that mean the king is away? or does he have enough sense to share in his peoples plight?
