"Good morning, Miss Heart, Miss me. It is currently 3 a.m. and I am wide awake. Thus explains the words I am writing in my trusty diary." Sure enough Miss Heart carefully wrote with her pale, delicate hands. Sighing deeply, she slowly put her pen away as the words slowly vanished from her mind.
'it is just 3:02 now.. only 4 hours to go and I have accomplished another night!' she thought as her gaze drifted to the window, the sparkling stars winking down on her.
Eventually she could not take sitting still any longer. Bounding to her feet she grabbed her sword, her miniature katana. Glancing around her room she noted how messy her love of books and writing was becoming. Books covered all surfaces, her desk, bed and dresser. While her writing parchment stuffed in bounds of leather were neatly stacked row by row in the corner. Ranging around 30 volumes in each stack and 4 stacks across with 4 stacks wide.
While thoughts of her books and messy habits chased each other around her head she quickly left the cramped room, only the sound of her footfalls being heard. Left, up the stairs, four doors down and to the right. Standing in the door way she stared into the dark room. "Lights," she commanded. At first nothing happened, then a silent whisper slithered around the walls speaking an unknown tongue. What once was a dark room was filled with light from an unknown source.
Peace filled her mind as she looked on at the weapons filling the walls and the dummies lined up in the center. Tightening her grip on the handle, she spoke calm and clearly with a slight teasing edge in her tone, "You know it is rude to stalk people."
A gentle but familiar chuckle slithered from behind her, "only if we were strangers."
A slow smile spread across Miss Hearts face as she flicked hair out of her face and turned to look at the boy behind her. Well almost boy, he had a humans features, pale skin, dark black hair. But eyes of a hunter, hawks eyes, and long feathered wings behind him.
I have know this boy since a year and a half ago, he is peculiar I will give him that. We met in a laboratory, we were the subjects of course. We were the ones that were poked, tested, abused and starved. Some of us did not make it, but I had to. I fought with all my might, and I was so close to losing myself. Then one day they bring this twerp in, he's already bloodied a couple broken bones, high of some substance. But he was still standing strong! He had the aura of a god, the moment I saw him I knew. He was my salvation and my freedom. Luckily for us our kennels were stacked next to each other. At first it was awkward, I had never had a reason to speak to another being in my life.
"Who.. are you?" Miss Heart croaked, her curious gaze never once wavering from the strangers face. After a long pause of silence and no reaction, she started to question if she had spoken out loud. Once again she opened her mouth to speak again but the sudden movement of the boy shut her up. He had jerked his head toward her, an intense look on his beautiful face, shaking his head as if to say 'No, do not speak, not yet.'
Somehow she knew, she curled into a ball and leaned her head against the bars. She waited, waited and then just to change the pace she waited some more. Eventually when all was silent in the room and the humans had gone away, "I do not have a name, however you may call me Everett. What about you?"
"I am known as Adalee Heart."
