CHAPTER FIFTEEN -15- CHIEF TOMASHI

Nia was in the quandary. What to do? Which way to proceed? The game had given her two options.

"You were hurt by fellow player- Mic. Now , you are now in combat status. You can fight against Mic without worry of red name status within 15 minutes.

Beep. Mob like situation noted. You can retaliate against the mob without worry of red name status within 5 minutes.

Beep. Fairy Reena's blessing is in effect. Would you like to receive help from the NPCs in the village? Cost- Villagers' support free for the first time. For each effort from now on, cost of 2 silvers and affinity will be used up automatically.

Ask for Villagers' help. Confirm 'Yes' or 'No'.

She did not have much time. In the scuffle, her HP had already been reduced to nearly half.

She decided. In real life, she had to compromise. But this is a game. No more how harsh the penalty may be, it won't be worse than in life. Go home or Go big. She gave herself some prep talk and started fighting back.

She was no hero. She did not have mad skills. Also, her game expertise was not in legend level. Thus, chances of her killing one or many was slim. But...she could make it painful for them. So she aimed for the magnet in the center, the one with most following- the pretty lady in eye catching red gown. Before dying, she would make sure Alexa felt the pain.

The stinging pain of face slapping. Ouch! This was literal face slapping. Agreed, the opponent would not feel much pain from it but the satisfaction Nia gained on slapping her continuously till some of men around her pulled her back and started to reduce her HP once again..., immeasurable.

Nia was still smiling when her character's HP finally dropped to zero. The crowning glory was not the slaps given but what was yet to come. She had recorded the incident. If it was given to mayhem maker friends....Alexa would become trending topic without the doubt.

Dying in game was a peculiar experience. Everything turned monochromatic and there was a feeling of someone pulling you. You blink and you feel as if you are in a portal. A blink again and everything is colorful and you are starting at resurrection point. Only bad point is , you feel woozy, dizzy and weak.

Nia could barely walk straight with dizziness still attaching her. Resurrection point was very near village square, so it meant she had to walk less. The queue near the village chief seemed unending though and she did not have time to wait.

Another shortcut. She grabbed one of the villager NPCs, using him as excuse and shield, she reach the chief.

Chief Tomashi was not like other villagers, born and bred in the area. Instead, he was exiled. It was only thanks to his connections and liberal use of officer's gift that he could become a chief of fairly working village. But he did not forget his beginnings and teachings of a noble.

He stood out like a swan in a group of sparrows. He still maintained his physique and took care of his features. Though he had celebrated his 50th birthday, he looked like a man in his thirties. The slivers of grey in his hair only added to the charm of his portray of gentleman. His looks looked luxurious. [I bet they are luxurious. No chief or mayor or people in important posts would wear fake things. They could flaunt their money with clothes and accessories or be simple and yet wear costly clothes. In their eyes, the things not worth money are not worth anything, conversely...if it costs to much, then its worth is also very high.]

Tomashi did not let go of his lifetime ambition even after banished. Instead, the flame burned even brighter. For that reason, he was always ready to mingle with others- noble or otherwise. As Alchemist Al had mentioned before, if not for the elders holding him back, he would rather be staying in Tasker Town and rule this place by proxy.

Having said that, Tomashi was not a bad man. He was not even much greedy. He could see the big picture clearly. That's the reason why he had increased the patrolling, though the chances of success was less. No nearby villages cared about small changes but Daka did. It's chief did. So the villagers swallowed their anger at doing a thankless and seemingly useless job and did their new work diligently.

Tomashi now had a new headache of managing the seemingly continuous batch of new adventurers. These people could help in patrolling, thus freeing the villagers from the burden but these kids were still too weak. Would you feel safe if you are being guarded by a weak person?

Tomashi did not have any choice but to accept these adventurers. So he was hoping for them to grow better. Thus he started giving these weak kids lots of jobs to ensure they at least had some strength. When Jakar, Village NPC interrupted him, he was so angry that he could have scolded the boy into the ground.

After learning the matter from Niyathi though, he was glad he had held back his anger. Finally..they were getting some clue of the problem they were facing.

He personally took some troops, few knowledgeable people and proceeded towards 'Chicken Farm'. Nia did not ask for any benefits and Tomashi was in hurry, thus did not give XP or other things.

I know the story is a slow burn. Hang on. Nia will take you to a rollercoaster ride.
