Something About Her

Felix POV

~~~
Another week and I still can't seem to focus. My grades haven't slipped or anything -No- it just seems that I've become very impatient with everything that hasn't anything to do with her. Whether it be Math, Science, the History of this damned city of Paris, I just don't care!
I find these abnormally long and excruciatingly boring lectures to just season my patience with the wrong herbs.
Sighing for, I have no idea what number it is by now, I look to the right of me and find the same familiar pigtails bouncing as she looked up and down from her notes to the board. Her sky blue eyes so focused on the bumble of words laid out neatly for her to copy into her lilac note pad, god she makes me insane.
"Felix Agreste, if you'd rather be outside cloud watching than learning something you'll actually need in life, then be my guest!"
I rolled my eyes before looking back over to the science teacher that I never cared to remember the name of and dryly yet elegantly spoke, "I was only thinking of Darwin's theory of evolution."
She narrowed her gaze at me then stuck her nose high into the air and squawked out, "then please elaborate on your opinion of it," with a click of a button, the metal projector turned off and the classroom was only lit up by the light piling in from outdoors.
Standing up, I straightened my tie and spoke straight and to the point, "I feel that the theory that we evolve into who we are based on changing of the elements around us and survival of the fittest is quite unique knowing that there are many dangerous forces in this world that could make humans become instinct. Why haven't we evolved into something greater than what we are now? If his theory was to be fact, don't you think we would've adapted to be able to live in water since we've learned to swim? If we were to ever lose face, " I continued on with this nonsense for a while trying not to yawn as I realized that I had caught the attention of the blue-eyed darling seated next to me. She looked up to me, seemingly wanting to say something, "what is it Marinette?"
She turned away and twiddled with her pen before squeaking out like a mouse, "I believe that you have a right to your opinion, as do I." She took another deep breath before continuing, "but I honestly have to disagree with you. I think we keep evolving every day and continue to adapt to our lives whether it be through tragedy or finding a new species in the world!" She smiled and stood up beside me and was now speaking to the whole class, "I mean look at Ladybug and Sir Noir! They're able to adapt to any situation through their way!"
She kept going on about how no matter what happens the world always adapts to the situation to try and solve it. Sitting down, we both looked back at the teacher and saw that she was speechlessly staring at us, jaw agape. Shaking her head she coughed, "well now that I know you were paying attention," with a click of the projector we continued.
Looking over to Marinette, we caught each other's eyes. She grinned then turned back to her notes, doodling on the sides when she got tired.
When the bell rang, I looked down at my notebook and realized all I had written down were a few notes then sketches of a faceless girl. "See you after lunch Felix!" Looking up, I watched as Marinette skipped down the aisle and met up with her friend Alya.
I need to start focusing, I haven't taken serious notes since last month; the first week of my classes! Knowing everything they're teaching me already, doesn't excuse my laziness. Maybe I'm not getting enough sleep because of patrols?
Yeah, that's all.
Standing up, I collected my belongings then left the room to eat but was stopped by a crowd clogging the halls.
Great.
Luka POV
~~~

I couldn't bear to look at them anymore! It's been over a month since him and I joined the same class with Marinette. She hasn't paid any mind to me unless I approach her first. I'm no good with words, but I also can't pull out my guitar anytime I want to tell her how I feel!

Ugh, why is everything so complicated all of a sudden? It was easier when Adrien was oblivious to her feelings.

I looked back at her as she stood in front of the class talking about evolution and how it probably is still around. "...while survival of the fittest is made more into an industrial sense today, we still continue to see our society thrive and change throughout history in many different ways." Marinette spoke as if science could compare to her passion for fashion.

She always seemed to surprise me in the oddest ways, but that wasn't always a bad thing. No, it was what made me fall in love with her.

Before I knew it, the bell had rung. I got up quickly to go ask her to have lunch when I saw the way she smiled at him. I couldn't help myself from loathing the small blush they shared, it made me sick to keep staring.

I turned around to see Adrien be the first to leave the class. Slinging my bag over my shoulder, I hightailed it after him and yelled down the hall, "ADRIEN AGRESTE!" He turned around slowly giving me a confused look. Stomping over, I growled, "I thought I told you to keep him away from her?" I lifted him off the ground by his collar not noticing the crowd forming around us.

"They're bench partners, what do you want me to do about that?" He shrugged me off and started to walk again but I grabbed his shoulder and turned him around.

Before he could object and before I could realize, I let my fist fly into his jaw making him stumble back. It wasn't long before there was a crowd formed around us. "I don't care about that! Why do they look so comfortable all the time? Tell him to back off or I will! He doesn't even--!"

"Oh my god, Adrien! Stop it!" I could hear Chloe annoyingly butting in from somewhere else.

Thump!

I was on the floor. My hair felt damp as I pushed myself up to glare back at the damned bastard. But he wasn't looking back at me. Instead, I followed his gaze to the people behind me to spot Marinette in the crowd covering her mouth and shivering. "Marinette?"

She quickly looked between the both of us then crouched down near my head and helped me up, "easy, Luka. It looks like you cut open your head after you were..." She looked up to Adrien then turned to me with a sad expression, "let's get you to the nurse." She softly helped me to the infirmary and even stayed as I was being patched up.

For some reason though, she avoided eye contact with me and just faced her pink flats. I put my hand on hers and whispered, "it wasn't your fault, he just broke a promise that's all." I gave her a small smile to try and release the tension in the room, but to my surprise, it didn't work that well.

"Even if he did, that's no reason for you two to fight about it!" She pushed my hands away and muttered, "it's just as bad as being akumatised except you know what you're doing..."

I didn't really know what to answer to that.

She just said I'm worse than an akumatised villain!

"Marinette, you know I only ever do anything for a good reason, please don't be angry with me!" I got down below her level and pleaded with all my heart for her forgiveness.

All she did was stare back at me with the intensity compared to my mother when I sass at her after a long day of school. She sighed and rubbed her temples, "I'm not angry. I'm upset that you used violence instead of words, Luka!"

She stood up and paced the room as the nurse, knowingly, gave us some space by stepping out.

Sighing, I sat back on the bed and looked at the floor, "have you decided already?" She turned around with a confused look, but when I lifted my head and met her eyes, she realized I was talking about New Years. "I know you said you didn't have an answer but it's been over a month and I feel like I'm holding onto a cast that has missed its catch..." I trailed off realizing that she still may not be ready to say anything.

"Luka, I..." She looked back at me and sighed. A crease formed between her eyebrows as her words hung in the air surrounding us. I could just make out a slight shine in her eyes but was ripped from the scene when I jumped at the sound of the door sliding open.

Heavy footsteps followed across the floor as I followed the stitching of the fancy black and green English suit, up to come face to face with the tall, overbearing nightmare.

"Felix? What brings you here?" Her voice cranked up a few pitches and fell into curiosity. I didn't dare look back at her instead I stared through the blond-haired grinch in front of me.

He straightened his vest and tie out then flipped open his watch and said nonchalantly, "the teacher asked me to tell you not to worry about the work you've missed for the day." He didn't look at me once until he glanced to say, "both of you." He stepped fully into the room and approached Mari, obviously with ulterior motives. His eyes lit up every time they connected with hers, making it hard for me to split the silence.

"Thank you for coming to tell us, you look like you have something else to say." Marinette stepped towards him and smiled, he looked back as if he were watching his first sunset.

"Yes, I do actually. He bowed and asked, "may I trouble you with asking for your help with my school work once again?" She laughed and nodded.

"Of course! Do you just need to borrow my notes again?" They seemed so chummy as they headed for the door. But before they left I grabbed her wrist.

She turned to face me, "please. I just need your answer." I feel ashamed of pushing her to make a decision now, but I can't keep going like this, watching them. I watched her every move, even as she looked back to Felix then to the floor.

"I'll see you around, Luka." She pulled her wrist from my grip and brought it up to her chest, embracing it as if it was precious to her.

While they walked out, I didn't bother looking over to see who pushed through the two of them. All I could think of was Marinette Dupain-Cheng and where everything went wrong between the two of us.

I watched as she walked silently out of the room with Felix at her side.

And that was it.

Felix POV

~~~
Before I could say anything, Marinette ran for the door leaving the two of us in the room alone. He didn't look up nor did he say anything. I expected Luka to chase after her for longer seeing that Adrien has lost his advantages but I guess he has no passion or guts for that.
Turning on my heels, I walked out and closed the door behind me after Chloe pushed her way through in a huff. Walking away from the muffled weeps of a boy I barely know, I caught up swiftly to Marinette but said nothing. There was a tense atmosphere that I couldn't explain.
Then I heard it.
It was only for a moment, but the small sniffle was enough to tell me how much of an impact that boy really had on her. Honestly, what nerve he has. Creeping his way into her like then dictating it without her knowledge.
I stopped her midway down the hallway, but she still didn't lookup. "The pollen count is still low for March. Maybe you came down with a cold walking home every day."
I don't even know what I'm saying! We both know pollen isn't the problem, it's the fact that he keeps popping into her life and is trying to control it. He's hurting her to push them both together, she did the right thing by turning him down. I'm sure she knows that, but then why is she still crying about it?
When she looked up, it felt like my heart melted from its icy walls. The shine in her eyes dripped down her cheek as she gave me a small smile, "yeah hahaha..." Turning back she softly said, "how about I catch you up on everything you've missed at my house today?"
Beside her, I kept my unmovable face forward and sharply answered, "if you think that will help me with my classes then so be it. But I'll have you know now that I have a tight schedule, so we cannot fool around with this."
She laughed and shook her head, "of course! It's important to be able to understand what we're learning now with things we already have." She looked back to me as I gave her my classic side-eye with a raised eyebrow, "just like Darwin's theory."
I turned my head fully towards her and agreed, "yes. Exactly like that."
I knew she was fine, just a moment of silly emotional weakness.
