Adventurer's guild

Entering the adventurers guild.

I was surprised to be met with a greeting that honestly was out of the blue.

Getting hit with the flying body of some skinny man who looked so malnourished to the point of becoming mistakable for a skeleton.

I raised an eyebrow and looked down at the man who slumped down below me.

Before looking up at the partly rowdy and quiet Adventurer's guild.

The rowdy part consisted of what I presume to be the people responsible for throwing people all over the place and the people who were laughing drunkly together.

A bit early for a drunk party when everyone is still returning, but they seem like they had just returned from some sort of expedition seeing as they were shouting something about slaying... something.

The quiet part consisted however of people who were just watching the spectacle seemingly unbothered by the uncalled for violence that seemed to be a part of their daily lives.

And from the stories I heard from the.... I forgot roses (MC), it may as well have been at the higher ranks.

And the final other part of the quiet group being the people at the counter where I assume they make me an adventurer and if not they seemed to be the helpful kind.

Smiling as my thoughts looked at the people who were coming my way with a slight drunkenness' in their steps.

I tossed a copper coin to the man and silently mouthed at him to wait there for now.

Stepping forwards my mind was set on finding out how to become an adventurer before helping out the man who was incredibly weak.

I was stopped in my steps by the drunk people who literally pushed the man into me.

"HeeYYyyy! YoOOuuu!" With a slur to their speech I stopped as the fat man covered in leather armor that looked as if it would burst at the slightest touch pointed at me.

"WhoOOoo AarRee YOu?"

Eyeing the man up and down and smirked. "What if I said I was a newbie wanting to become an adventurer."

Eyes lighting up as the drunk man processed his words he attempted to straighten his swaying body although incredibly badly at that.

His cronies who were equally as ugly for some reason standing behind the man with grins on their faces.

The people at the sides now eyeing this new series of events with greater interest than the earlier thrashing.

"How old is that kid? He seems like he hasn't seen a proper battle in his life"

"It's a good thing we have trash like them that show the dangers of adventuring doesn't only extend to monsters"

"That kid wants to become an adventurer? Big dreams"

Hearing the whispers of mockery leave their lips I silently compared them to the mocking words the people who were around me when they heard that I wanted to travel the world.

Calling me stupid and idiotic for not knowing the harsh truths.

And for abandoning a well paying job that could have landed me in the upper reaches of society.

But I proved them all wrong by showing that I could still become rich while doing something that I enjoyed.

Investing in places with my funds and getting the funds needed to continue my journey around the world.

It was a blast seeing their ugly faces as they realized that the risky path I took did indeed give results.

Smirking as this situation was no different than the one from before I died at... somewhere at the ages of 40 - 50.

I listened to the words of the humanoid pig who was similar to the so called descriptions of orcs.

"OooOOH! Yoouuu want to BecomE an adventurEeeerr" Somehow making himself not so drunk with impressive skill and slurring his words less often.

The man pig raised his fingers and rubbed them in the universal gesture for money "Well if your new hereee than you shooould know the rules"

"YoooUUu have to pay up Ahheeead of time to get recommened by a seasoned adventuuurer such as I!"

Slamming his fist and causing fat to ripple along the pigs body I raised an eyebrow.

"So I just have to give you money? Then I can talk to the receptionist right?

Eyes wide open with unconcealed greed the man shouted. "HAhAHAHA I like you kid! Smart on the uptake to! I think you'll be a very good adventurer when you grow up!"

Smiling widely the man raised his palm "You know what kid? Because I have such a good impression on you I will be generous this one time, instead of making you pay 20 silver I'll make you just pay 10 silver."

"What do you think? A pretty good deal if I say so myself"

Raising an eyebrow at what is most probably a blatant rip off the man in front of me changed his words upon seeing my face.

"Fine! 5 silver! I can't go any lower for my services!"

Putting his greasy fingers up and shoving them to my face I calmly replied to him.

"Isn't this a ripoff? Because from what I'm told..."

"Well whoever told you that was lying! You need a recommendation from someone to become an adventurer and get all the benefits attatched to it!"

"Okay fine"

Eyes lighting up at my words they quickly darkened with shame and rage.

"But does it have to be you? Because I know that you don't look like the average adventurer... And I don't mean that in a good way"

"Look kid, you don't want to do this or you'll regret it"

"Why? Because your friends are surrounding me while clenching their weapons?"

As I said that the people who were slowly converging on me from all around stopped in their tracks.

It seemed that they were going to pressure me by numbers.

And this wasn't even blatant scamming now, at this point weren't they just like the bandits I heard so much about?

Actually they could be likened to gangsters now that I think about it, pressuring others to give them money to continue their livelihoods.

Pushing away any forms of resistance with their strength and numbers while targeting the slightly well off and the weak average person.

In this case that being the newbie adventurers trying to get enlisted.

The sad thing is?

I wasn't the average person.

"Well sorry to say but..."

Dropping the chest in my hands with a significantly loud thud to surprise anyone.

I let the straps of my chest/ bag go loose and let those impact the floor.

As the chests made a louder noise and sank into the floor, not even breaking it but just sinking into it.

I cracked my neck with a grin.

"Are you sure that it will work?"
