Hamlyn led Sheryl outside, pressing her gently against the wall, his hand braced beside her as he gazed at her while she kept her gaze lowered.
"Okay now tell me. What's got you feeling down?" he inquired softly.
Looking up at Hamlyn with sincerity in her eyes, "Your feelings for me are genuine, aren't they?” Sheryl questioned.
"Why are you asking this all of a sudden?" Hamlyn inquired, clearly confused.
"I just need to know," Sheryl said, her eyes locked onto him with an earnest and anxious tone. "If another girl were to express her feelings for you, would you choose her over me?”
"That's not even a consideration," Hamlyn responded firmly, with a reassuring smile. "I would never accept anyone else's proposal.”
Extending her hand toward him, Sheryl's voice was a gentle plea. "Promise me," she said softly, "that you'll always be mine.”
