EXCERPT. "What do you mean?" "What I mean Ethan is that i can't live with a man who i am not married to." Maria snapped at me, her face flushed with emotion. This was the first time she had ever raised her voice at me. I could tell she was hurting. "So what do you want me to do?" Though i asked, a part of me already had a clue as to what she might say. "A divorce. I want you to divorce her so-." "I can't" I quickly cut her off. "Why not? Is there some law which says you can't?!" Maria paused. Her body trembling with rage," For God sake you were drunk Ethan! So was she! You have enough reason to get.-" "That's not what I meant." "Then what do you mean?" I didn't understand it myself. I had no idea what had come over me, but the flame. It burned deep inside my chest. I had to understand what it meant. "I want to feel it." "Feel what Ethan? You're not making any sense!" "I'm not stupid. Even though I was drunk i still had some Sense. There's no way i could have married her if i didn't have a reason. If i didn't feel something." "What are you trying to say to me Ethan." Maria slowly approached me, tears dripping down her face. I looked away from her, i didn't want my gaze to meet hers. I knew what i was doing wasn't right, i just couldn't stop myself. I had to find out what happened that night. "What I'm trying to say is that. I need to feel it. I need to understand what i felt for her that made me marry her. I need to understand that feeling and until i get that... I can't divorce her." "What?" "I'm sorry Maria." I knew i had hurt her, i knew what i was doing was wrong. But there was nothing more i could do. My mind was made up.

Dinner party 3:The real story begins.

Beautiful. It looked absolutely beautiful.

"This way Miladies, Master Andrew arranged this table for you." A young man escorted us to our table as soon as we stepped out of the elevator. "Please wait here. We'll be at your service through out the night, whatever you may need." He stated before bowing slightly then leaving us.

"Wow!"

"I know right?" I and Annie tried not to draw attention to ourselves as it appeared we were the only persons whose eyes darted around the event venue. For a rooftop it was large. There was at least a hundred and twenty people on this roof. The smooth instrumentals being provided by the live band, flowed through the roof along with the wind. It made the atmosphere feel heavenly. There were waiters dressed up as little forest creatures and they served the coolest looking confectionaries.

"Oh oh oh Roxi Roxi look," Annie tapped me until she got my attention. "It's professional soccer player Maxim Davis." Annie held in her shriek. She had a thing for Sports men; especially soccer players.

"And there's Rita Macgregor she starred in that blockbuster movie, No way home." I tried to keep myself from pointing.

"This is awesome innit?" Annie whispered in my ear.

"Stay in character before they kick us out."

We laughed.

"Pastries Miladies?" A waiter approached us.

"Don't mind if I do." Annie grabbed some for the both of us.

"Thanks." I bowed to the waiter who responded with a warm smile.

"Why did it have to be standing tables though." I complained as my feet started to ache.

"I guess that's what rich people do now. Maybe chairs are associated with poverty?" Annie commented. We joked and laughed like that for a long time. Suddenly at the peak of our excitement, for the first time since we arrived at the party thirty minutes ago, the atmosphere was tense. The waves of chatter coming in from all over the rooftop instantly died down. It was like a ghost had past.

Immediately I noticed everyone kept turning their heads backwards, towards the entrance. Not a peep was heard at that moment. "What's happening?" I turned to Annie who looked like she had an idea of what was going on.

"He's here." She stated as she crunched a chocolate ball between her teeth.

"Who's here?"

"Ethan Alexander Hernández. The most handsome and wicked face you'd ever come across in your entire life." She picked up another ball. "He's Andrew's beloved boss." I could sense the hostility in her voice coupled with the way she rolled her eyes. Something was definitely wrong. But then, it wasn't just her. As i studied the room i soon discovered that almost everyone who stared at the entrance, awaiting his arrival had an apprehensive look written all over their face. Why was i the only one left in the dark.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may i please have your attention. It is my greatest pleasure to introduce your host and the reason for this prestigious gathering. The founder and CEO of the GLT INVESTMENT COMPANY AND ASSOCIATED ENTERPRISES. Join me to welcome, Master Ethan Alexander Hernández!"

*APPLAUDS* *APPLAUDS*

The whole area surrounding the rooftop was suddenly under siege by waves of neverending rounds of thunderous applause. Everyone applauded like their lives depended on it. It was really starting to hurt my eardrums. Unfortunately for me ever since I stopped taking the meds, my sensitivity to sound returned. I couldn't even try to cover my ears because I was afraid Annie would notice and immediately realize that i had been lying to her. I had to endure the pain. At that moment that roof was hell.

Inwardly, i begged for it all to end. Eventually, with his hand raised, Andrew's boss calmed the crowd.

With my affliction ended i could finally attempt to get a look at this so called 'Andrew's boss' guy. He started to walk towards the front end of the roof. His pace was slow, confidence oozing out from him. I tried to get a better view but i got blocked by the crowd of people mostly cameramen, news reporters and female celebrities who had suddenly gathered infornt of me. Though i was curious to see this Andrew's boss guy, the person who i was actually dying to see was Andrew. I wondered what he looked like in his suit.

Grabbing hold of Annie, i pulled her into the crowd along with me. We tugged and pushed until we got to the front. Wow! He looked so handsome. I squealed as i stared at Andrew.

By the time we got to the front of the crowd, Andrew's boss was already far ahead. I waved at Andrew hoping he'd see me. He did!

"Hey you guys. Wow you just took my breath away. You look drop dead gorgeous Roxi." Andrew commented as he approached us.

"Thanks." I blushed.

"What about me?" Annie whined as we moved away from the crowd.

"A troll is always a troll, doesn't matter how much makeup she puts on." Andrew laughed.

"Y-you look really handsome Andrew. Like a a prince," I stuttered. My head was low as i tried to cover my blushing cheeks.

"You're so cute Roxi thanks."

I blushed harder.

Andrew spent quite some time with us at our table, apparently his boss didn't need him there all the time. He was effortlessly handling conversations with people of his class and social status. The only view i got of him was his back, as it was turned towards our direction. But from what I saw, he had an amazing physique. He was the first guy I'd seen who i was willing to admit that he had a better body tone that Andrew. But that didn't matter to me anyway. Andrew was still number one to me.

"So Andrew how is it working with your boss is he nice-."

"Oh he is amazing."

"Ugh, don't listen to him Roxi he's always covering up for his boss."

"But it's true he is a nice guy."

"He's an alcohol-."

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may i please have your attention." The announcer started again.

Once more the room was quite, well to an extent. There were still murmurs here and there. I guess this next person didn't command as much respect as Andrew's boss guy.

"It is my greatest pleasure to introduce the main attraction at this event. A dashing young lady whose beauty has gone before her. Grace, elegance and affluence are synonymous with her name. Join me to introduce Miss Maria Elvis Richmond. Soon to be Mrs Alexander Hernández.

*APPLAUSE*

"So your boss's fiancee, right Andrew?"

"Andrew? Andrew?" He was lost in thought. His eyes were wide open, but his gaze was fixed on something. I followed his eyes until it landed on her. Maria. His gaze was fixed on her. I had never seen him stare so intently at anybody like he did at that moment. Not Annie... Not me. My chest felt heavy. "Andrew?" I tapped him.

"Yea Yea sure it's a nice piece of cake." Andrew stuttered, his gaze following her every movement until she reached his boss and greeted him with a kiss. That snapped him out of his trance. "Uh... Um... Roxi wh- what were you saying again?"

"Forget it."

"O- okay."

The remaining minutes Andrew spent with us were silent. It felt like in the entire environment around us, we were the only source of silence. Andrew looked tense. He kept tapping his foot on the ground and his fingers on the table. I had never seen him act so worked up before. It was like he wanted to leave but was waiting for an excuse.

And he eventually got one.

"Andrew, there's a call for you." A waiter informed him.

"Of course!" He said with so much enthusiasm. "Um guys I'm sorry, i have to go." He didn't look or sound sorry at all. He followed the waiter then left.

"Couldn't you have pretended like you weren't so excited to leave. Tch!" Annie whispered as she sighed loudly.

Everything was going according to plan. The music was good, the food, the decor. Everything was perfect. Well almost.

"Sir i have some news." Andrew announced as he approached me. There was someone behind him. A face i had not seen before.

"What is it?"

"Um... A letter came from your family and they instructed this man here to read it to the hearing of everyone at the party."

I tensed up.

"Can't i go through it first and decided if it's to be read?"

"I'm sorry Sir. Those were the instructions from your family."

"Fine, let him read the darn letter."

"Yes Sir." Andrew turned to the man ."This way."

*CLING* *CLING!*

A spoon was hit on a wine glass to draw everyone's attention in. Soon everyone faced me. And the messager stood on the podium.

"Good evening all. My name is Raymond Chester. The official messager for the Arthur Family of Spain. I was sent here to deliver this message from my boss on the event of his second son's engagement party. I read now.

"Good evening. i am James José Hernández current head of the Hernández family and fifteenth head of dinastía de la familia Hernández, of which my son Ethan broke out from of his own volition. In light of the current events, we wish to announce in the presence of the general public that we will not be honouring his invitation."

*GASPS* *MURMURS*

"How dare he do this at my own event?!" I exclaimed, rage seeping deep into my soul.

"We the members of the Hernández family refuse to honour an invitation from someone who has brought so much shame to our family name. By his actions, Ethan has separated himself from the entitlements the the Hernández name carries and as such, we cannot attend any event related to him. Be it this, or his wedding. We do wish him the best of luck and if he should ever come back to his senses, he still has a place in our family -- not whst he had before, but at least he'd still have some dignity. Thankyou and food day.

~ James José Hernández for the family."
