Shan woke up again around midnight after he fell asleep at ten p.m. His sleep was too light and because it was cold again and raining, his mind was playing tricks, sending him back to his past. So he decided to go downstairs and either play or just watch something.
He waited for the elevator and rode it down to the living room. He would just probably watch something. Some movies or dramas sounded like a good idea.
He heard the sound of an elevator coming in and stopped in his tracks for a while. Who was getting in at midnight? Shan wasn't afraid it was someone uninvited, but everyone was already asleep.
He got up and decided to wait for that person in front of the elevator. The elevator ended up on his floor. So it was maybe Dr. Qiao. That calmed Shan down a bit. And he was even more okay when a tall redheaded person got out.
"Hey, Lucy. Why are you here so late?" he asked before even noticing there was a second person behind her. She got out of the elevator and waved to Shan.
"Couldn't find another plane. It was on short notice. Lili knows I'm coming, though. This is Hyun, Kim Hyunyeong, South Korean." She pointed at the person behind her, who stared at Shan with his mouth open. She properly said his nationality to hint at the culture and language he should use.
"Hello. I'm Yang Shan. Nice to meet you," he said in Korean and extended his hand for a handshake. That person almost jumped on Shan's hand and grabbed it.
"Will you be my boyfriend?" he exclaimed, startling Shan. And Lucy too.
"Well, that was a hell of a first impression. I guess…" Lucy mumbled and went to the table that was hanging on the wall. She looked at it for a long time, while Shan tried to wrestle his hand out of Hyun's.
"I'm sorry, but I don't plan to have a serious relationship," Shan said after a while and finally got his hand back.
"Choose a room. I'm going back to mine," he said and ran away, fidgeting with his fingers again, poking and scratching the skin around his nails. It went even so far that he rolled up his sleeve and started scratching the scars on his wrist.
Just for one simple reason. When Shan got into his room, he leaned on the window and just slid down, hugging his knees.
He remembered again. He remembered the last time…
"Fuck it!" he hissed and punched himself in his thighs. He needed to stop pitying himself. Shan got up and placed headphones in his ears and went downstairs, evading the common quarters, and just went directly to the computer room. He started the game while still listening to music and simply overloaded his overthinking brain with stimuli.
Meanwhile, in the common room, Lucy was staring at Hyun with a disapproving look.
"I thought you had some brain? But I guess it's a family trait. I took you to meet your favorite team. Your favorite streamer who I told you about is a private and sensitive person and the first thing you do is to ask if he will go out with you. A stranger?" Lucy couldn't believe her ears when she heard him. Thankfully, Hyun had enough shame to blush and let his head fall on his chest.
"If you warned me, I wouldn't be so caught off guard. And he met me in Korea twice already!" Hyun tried to defend himself. But it was futile.
"I guess you didn't make a good first impression because he doesn't remember you. But don't worry now he will remember you and he will evade you," she pointed out to the devastated Hyun, who knew she was right. He was so stupid.
"But maybe he won't evade me…" Hyun sighed, but his inner thoughts were the opposite opinion. Lucy stopped in her tracks again and went back to the whiteboard.
"And I still can't believe you didn't think he was hetero. Hell, there are two couples that are the same sex. There is another one that has incredible chemistry and just doesn't go out yet and only one heterosexual couple. If he was gay, I would get the water here tested, because that would be too much of a coincidence." Lucy complained to Hyun over and over again, making him feel even worse than he already felt.
"Even though technically only Huobai and Chao are homosexuals. Yixing is bi and Yitian. Probably pansexual?" She was still mumbling, overloading Hyun's brain with information. So many?
"But… I get this vibe from him." He pouted and went to stand next to Lucy. She was looking at the whiteboard with floors and names next to rooms.
"I don't care about what vibes you get. Your gaydar is broken, and you massively fucked up even if it wasn't broken." She turned to face him.
"I will help you one last time," she said vigorously, took a pen, and wrote something on the board. Hyun couldn't understand because everything was in traditional Chinese characters and he forgot those a long time ago.
"Go to the fourth floor. And you will sleep in the last room on…" she stopped, waved her hands around a bit, and tried to figure out on what side the room was.
"The right. There should be everything ready. They clean it regularly, so just lay down and sleep… If you manage to." Hyun nodded and looked around.
"What about my luggage?" Lucy stopped walking away and laughed.
"They took it to the guest floor, so wait by the elevator and I will send it down to you." They did exactly as she said, so Hyun was rolling his luggage to the last room on the right as quietly as he could.
Hyun entered the room on the right and didn't even bother to turn the light on. He used the flashlight on his phone to get out pajamas. He took a quick shower, surprised. There were even shampoos and skincare, like in the hotel. But he had his own. So he only fell into the bed, liking the smell and because it was already late, he fell asleep as if struck by a brick.
