CHAPTER 3 ACCEPTED

Melissa couldn't catch sufficient sleep because of how anxious she is to get everything done. She woke up early to start preparing for her trip. Her sisters took their time getting her well dressed. The clothes Somaria bought was quite expensive which she was scolded for because she almost emptied her little account.

Melissa was to arrived at the company by 9:00am but she couldn't bring herself to wait since she was ready to go by 6:00am,so she got to the company by 7:15am. The securities searched her thoroughly and asked her series of questions which was really annoying to her. She didn't have the idea of the place she was coming was this sophisticated and highly technological. Even the uniforms of the security gave her goose bumbs. It was a top notch not to talk of the staffs. Then she knew that she needed to thank her sister for insisting she gets good clothes. Even her thought to be expensive clothes was not a match at all to any of the clothes she saw. She summoned courage and decided to maintain her pride no matter what.

She was not allowed in the main building until it was some minutes to nine. She just sat down at the security visiting post. There she could see how cars of different kinds were moving. It was hard to see anyone move by foot. There are so many cars that she didn't even know they exist. Now she knew that she was really lagging behind in lot of things and this made her really nervous.

When it was ten minutes to nine, one of the security drove her to the main building to get her interview done. The security handed her to the receptionist. The receptionist was a young lady whose perfume almost choked Melissa ti death but she managed to greet and give her a smile. Melissa quickly take a look at herself to ensure she was not looking too shabby and then looked back at the lady, then she met her frowning face. Her eyes was filled with disgust and this made Melissa conclude that it is her poor look that irritates the well dressed lady.

"Sit there" the lady said coldly pointing towards the waiting couch which Melissa did not minding her tune.

Melissa waited patiently to be called in but after almost an hour she wasn't allowed in for any interview she talked thinking the lady forgot about her.

"Excuse me Miss" she called softly with a little trembling voice.

The lady looked up sharply.

"I've been sitting here for almost an hour and you haven't done anything nor say anything about my arrival?" she asked politely.

Melissa knew the lady was intentionally ignoring her because she was the first to arrive and she has already passed more than five people who came before her. The reason for her attitude Melissa could not tell.

"And who told you I'm not doing anything? The boss who is to attend to you is not ready so be calm" she replied in a very rude manner.

Melissa was tired of sitting. She was not used to sitting for so long.

"But Miss, I received a clearance from the security and I was told my interview is 9:00am but this is already past ten. Why is yours different?" She asked impatiently but not rudely.

The lady dashed her a stern look. "Listen to me young lady, if you can't wait for your turn ,you can use the door" she backlashed.

Melissa kept calm, wishing silently that she wasn't here.

After about another thirty minutes the lady told her that her interviewer will be ready in the next twenty minutes.

Melissa was glad to hear this since twenty minutes was shorter than the time she already spent here and know that she soul leave so soon.

But twebty minutes turned thirty, turned forty, fifty then another one hour passed, then Melissa got frustrated.

"Young woman I'm damn tired of sitting here like a robot. I've been waiting for over five hours. Do you think I'm that jobless? If you refuse to answer me now, I'll walk away and my return won't be nice on you at all" she said with smolthered anger.

The lady was scared at Melissa's words. She knew if her superior gets to know about what happened she herself is done here.

"Calm down ma'am. I was trying to verify your presence, that's all" she lied

"For five hours!" Melissa asked sternly.

"Oops your details just arrived" she pretended.

Melissa shook her head and twisted the edge of her lip at her obvious lie.

"I'm sorry ma'am, the person for this job should be less than thirty" she said trying to feign been nice.

Melissa snorted. "Do I look thirty to you?"

She didn't know why the lady was treating her like this. It's not as if she looked that old even though she knew she did look older than her age but not thirty. The lady was acting absurd that got her thinking if they've met before and she checked her memory but found not a face that look like her.

"Ma'am I mean ranging from age twenty to twenty five" she repeated.

"For your information miss, I'm twenty two. So look for another reason to get me out of this job not that" Melissa smiled mocking at the lady.

Now that's she's been caught the lady got so scared and also shocked that she was caught.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked with a shaky voice.

"Do you know me?" Melissa asked.

The lady shook her head because she couldn't bring herself to talk.

"Is it your post that I was offered?"

She shook her head again.

Melissa smiled stiffly. "Then why on earth are you trying to get me out of the job that even I am not sure that I'm going to get?"

The lady was a bit surprised that Melissa was still calm and smiling at such wicked act displayed by her. She was already expecting a raging voice at this time. Then she became very sober knowing she wronged the wrong person.

"I'm so sorry ma'am. It's not entirely my fault. You know what extremely beautiful women do cause when they get into a place. They are bent to cause trouble and that will affect the company and I can't afford to loose my job" she explained with a sober face.

Melissa on the other ended couldn't understand her.

"Extremely beautiful?" She said inwards looking at her shabby clothes. "I don't get you ma'am" she gave a confused look.

"Like guys not concentrating on their job, them fighting just for her and many more" she said with her head bent. She was secretly looking at Melissa to know her reaction.

Melissa didn't know when she burst into laughter. "May I ask you few questions?" She asked after her laughter resided.

The Lady gave Melissa a quizzical look.

"As any guy fought because of you?"

"No"

"Did you hear any report that the reason a guy is not concentrating is you?"

"No" she frowned at that question.

"As it happened for once in this organization?"

The lady shook her head.

"But it happened at my friend's office that it seriously affected the company and my friend's team had to pay for it" she replied boldly now.

"So you are simply trying ti protect your company from me?"

"Why all these questions?" She asked impatiently.

"Since you are here and nothing of such happened, then I should be here too" Melissa said smiling.

"What has that to do with me?" She questioned.

"Because you are equally beautiful. So send me to my interviewer" she commanded.

The lady was so astonished at her words. She looked at her palely that she didn't even realise she picked up her table phone to connect to the boss until she heard him talk.

"Miss Melissa O'Dell is coming in sir" she said still looking at Melissa who was still smiling.

Melissa didn't wait another second as the lady told her the office she was to go. She waved at her and left.

She released a deep sigh as she entered into the office. A round man that would be in his late thirties or early forties became visible. With Melissa's view the man is quite short. The smile on his face didn't fit him at all. It looked forced. Melissa quickly prayed in her heart that the man shouldn't be her boss.

"Why are you so late?" He queried.

"I was here very early sir, but I was delayed" she quickly with a bit of fear.

"Where?" The man frowned.

Melissa knew that the lady will be in trouble if she go into details so she decided to let it go.

"It was a misconception sir, nothing more" she answered smiling.

"Ok then let's get to work" he adjusted himself pointing to the seat for her to sit.

"Yes sir"

"I've gotten all your details from the big boss and I was ordered to just tofew screening to know you but I don't think that is really necessary. All that is necessary is for you to corporate with me and you will live a smooth life here" he said with a debatable look.

Melissa has lot of questions running through her mind but the man's look was restraining her. She just looked at the man naively.

"Well if upu do as I asked, you will GE your appointment letter in a minute from my secretary and tj necessary information will be stated there clearly. Do not worry they are favourable ones. You jus corporate" he added grinning now.

Melissa was tired of hearing the word 'corporate'.

"Sir, corperating is not an issue on my side. I'll work diligently" she said.

"I know you will but I still want us to have a very good boss and junior relationship" he said winking at her.

Anger begin to build within her but she didn't want to misappropriate the whole issue enven though she was having an idea.

"Sir I'm a well trained and we would surely have a good relationship" she promised.

The man thought Melissa didn't understand what he meant. So he decided to expantiate better.

"Melissa, I would love the two of us to build a good friendship where we can enjoy ourselves. It will be of more benefit to you because in no time you will have more promotions than you think. I have good influence with all my superiors and anything I tell them is the truth. You see we can helpneach other greatly" he finished his orientation.

Melissa smiled. "Oh I see".

"My idea is a very good one" he boasted.

"Sir, may I ask you a question?" Melissa gave him an innocentl look.

"Sure".

"Are you a widower?"

"What! God forbid that" he exclaimed.

"Do you really have a wife?"

The poor man smirked.

"Don't tell me you are of the philosophy that you don't want to share. It's not a big deal young lady. Every lady has an 100% tendency to share a man. Don't get worked up here. Get civilized here" he said shamelessly.

Melissa looked at the gloating man and shook her head. She knew immediately that the man wasn't for her so she decided to leave silently without causing trouble but the man moved closer to her.

"If you move closer to me, you will regret it for the rest of your life" she in smothered anger.

"I thought....."

"Don't you dare thought anything" she interrupted trying not to give an outburst of anger.

"Are you willing to loose this job?" He asked smiling wickedly.

"I'm not only willing to lose the job but also lose your ugly face" she spitted out.

The man was really dumbfounded at her insult.

"I can never get myself into your disease filled life. Please enjoy it yourself" she said and stood up. "Excuse me" she hissed.

"You still need me beauty" the man called back. "I sure know that we're gonna have a nice cool sex. I'm really good at it" he said shamelessly.

Immediately the man begin to disgust her. Melissa quickly left before she starts screaming in anger. She marched out of the building in a quantum leap of anger talking to herself.

Why was I even fooled to come into this super annoying place. I would have earned lot of cash with the time I spent here. I even spent my hard earned cash to buy this super expensive clothes" she talked angrily to herself.

As she walked she didn't even have the idea of where she was going talk more of seeing anyone on her way. She was blinded by her anger and she didn't come to reality until she hit something hard. She looked up and she realised it wasn't a wall as she thought but a guy. A really very handsome one. She was really out of words as she looked ta the guy. Even her anger has hidden itself. The guy smelt and look luxurious.

"Are you done with your surveying young Lady? The guy asked rudely.

His voice was bossy and firm. Not in anyway casual not to talk of friendly.

Melissa quickly moved back to apologize.

"I was..."

"Are you blind that you couldn't see me as tall as I am?" He asked arrogantly and Melissa felt irritated.

"Easy Drew" the old man beside him cautioned.

"Melissa noticed the old man and she gave a bow. The man smiled at her and she looked back at the guy eyeing her haughtily.

"Can't you answer me or are you dumb as well as blind?" He almost yowled at her.

His voice ranged in Melissa's head that everything seems to come to stand still at the sound of his masculine voice. She couldn't help but figet.

"I... I... I ...was not looking up" she managed to say.

"Take it easy Drew. You are scaring the lady" the old man scolded again.

Melissa didn't want them to see her has a weakling, so she braced up and look at the guy. Although he was thundering, his face wasn't showing expression that he was angry.

"Can't you apologize or are you too big to do that?" He said irritably.

Melissa didn't say anything she just looked at him sternly.

"Dad did you just tell me not to scare her? Is are mouth glued together that she can't talk?" He seems frustrated with her silence.

"Sir, with all due respect I don't think you deserve an apology from me" she said trying to calm her nerves.

"What!" Free exclaimed in surprise.

Even the old man was surprise that he looked at Melissa then back to Drew who was short of words. This was the very first time this will happen to him.

"Yes sir. Didn't you receive your apology by insulting me. You can't insult me all the while and still expect me to apologize. You can't get those two at a time. So I take my leave" she said politely and averted.

Drew was so shocked that he didn't know what to do. Suddenly he realise that she was leaving. Then he took three long strides and he was right in front of her.

"Apologize" he commanded.

"No" she replied stubbornly.

"Who the hell do you think you are?" He firmly asked but his voice was cool.

"I am who the hell you are" she snapped" she replied in same manner.

The people listening to them were all astonished at the lady's bravery that they made sound to show it. Melissa didn't care about anything she did. Her anger that went hidden came back with full force.

"What!" He snorted angrily.

"See Mr guy, I've gotten enough of this annoying place. Don't get me more irated and don't dare think you are the one only who knows how to rain insults. I can do that better than you think but I'm just of more morals than you. Do you geddit?" She bawled making sure her words were ringing out well.

Drew got more than a shock. He raised his hand to touch his head as if he caught an headache but Melissa thought he wanted to hit her, so she quickly threatened him.

"Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on me or else...."

Drew widen his look at the pittete woman in front of him. She got more interesting to him, that he folded his arms in a relaxing manner just to see what she's going to do.

"Or else? What do you wanna do?"

"Try me" she put her hand in akimbo glaring at her.

"Do you wanna beat me?" He laughed out loud.

Everyone was surprised at him laughing. He rarely smile at anyone not to talk of him laughing at a stranger. They begin to whisper to themselves.

"If I'm permitted I will gladly do that" she glared at him because of his laughter. She was really put off by it.

"Please don't be angry Miss" the old man apologized.

Melissa gave the man a crispy smile.

"Don't be too bothered sir. I know how to deal pretty well with spoilt rich kid like him" she said not remembering that the guy called the old man dad.

"My goodness! Kid!" Drew scoffed.

"Yes" she snapping at him. "C'mon let's get on with it" she balanced herself ready to fight even though she know very well it is a bad idea.

Drew didn't know when he burst into laughter again even his father couldn't help but smile.

"Wow! For the first time a history a lady that look like a child si challenging me to a duel" he said with his hands raised half way. "Aren't you afraid of my stature?" He said looking into her clear blue eyes.

"I'm not afraid of your wee self and don't you think you can beat me" she boasted smiling annoyingly.

Drew bent to look more into her deep blue eyes thinking she would flinch but the little lady seems braver than he thought.

"Girl, I don't have time for your jokes or am I ready for your entertainment. For your information, I don't duel with women talk less of a lad like you" by the time he was done talking he was staring hard at her.

"Lad!" She shouted.

Drew cock a brow. "Didn't you call me kid?" He smirked.

"Don't be a coward boy. Let's get on with this" she said in a more challenging manner.

"Like I said earlier I'm not in a least interested. Just go comb your hair and apply make ups like you do. I've got a lot on my deal. Excuse me" he said in mockery and start to leave but Melissa's hand stopped him.

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Come back here! Who told you I don't have things to do also? You have no idea how much dollars I would have made if not for the false and later annoying letter that I received. I even reaped myself of a beautiful sleep to be here but all I got was a disgusting interview and a super annoying tall guy who thinks he is the best. My time is my money and it has just been wasted. I might not be as rich as you are but boy you ain't feeding me. If not for that letter an almighty disrespectful little boy like you won't open your maggot filled mouth to tell me to go comb my hair as if you bought me a comb. It is not in anyway your fault" she whined vigorous not minding she was shouting. She even hissed loudly waiting for his reaction.

Drew opened his mouth in both shock and anger. No one has ever said so much humiliating words to him. He was so vexed that he didn't know what to do. The old man beside him was equally speechless not to talk of the bodyguards around. They were all marvelling at her words.

"God who did I offend to deserve all these humiliation in just one day" she said dolefully like she's going to cry. "And you Mister..." She pointed at Drew. "You wanna know what? Go - to - hell" she eyed, brought out her tongue and averted.

Drew felt like hitting the rock. Then immediately something dropped on his mind.

"Melissa" He called.

Melissa paused then turned at the sound of her name from the same guys she just insulted.

"Did you just call my name?" She asked flabbergasted.

Drew turned to the old man beside him. "This is the lady you've been waiting for all day".

As he said that he turned and walked away.

"To my office" the old man called at his back.

Then he moved quickly to Melissa that was still drunk with surprise.

"Melissa O'Dell?" He asked with a lavished smile.

She wasn't expecting any smile from the old an due to her recent behavior to his acquittance.

"Yes sir. Do you know me?" She asked gently.

"Join me in my office we have a lot to discuss my dear".

He offered her his his which she took with hesitant.

All through their journey to the office, people they met were exchanging glances as if she just emerged from the mars.

In no time they were at the upper floor. Melissa already thought the place she was earlier was just like a department in heaven but this floor wowed her and she thought it's heaven itself. She was take aback by the magnificent beauty and the order at which everything is laid even to the designs on the wall. She was indeed drunk with the beauty of the place and she felt naturally tipsy. When she got to her destination the office dazed her.

She was offered a seat which she bowed to the man before taking.

"Miss O'Dell" the man called after taking his seat. "I'm Mayfield Kmetko the founder of D-foundations" he introduced.

"It's a pleasure meeting you sir" she said with a shaky voice.

It was done on her that the person she just created a disrespectful scene in front of was the founder of a multi-trillion company and the number one in rank company of the country and also she just humiliated his billionaire precious son.

It's only the workaholic Melissa that wouldn't know who Drew Kmetko was. She was oblivious to lot of things going on around her except to make money. Now she know she really messed up.

"May I offer you anything?"

Melissa shook her head violently. She won't dare take a drink. She won't dare. She told herself that.

Mayfield cleared his throat. "I know you came after you received a letter" he paused for her to answer even though he wasn't asking a question.

"Yes sir I did but I think the letter got into the wrong hand me. You gave it to the wrong Melissa O'Dell sir because I'm not in anyway fit in to this company especially based on education".

She quickly explained so as not to put her hopes high and later be accused for impersonating.

"No I don't..."

"Sir let me feed you with my details is it can be clearer that you got the wrong person" she interrupted quickly.

Mayfield could feel that she was figetting and afraid.

"No need dear we have your details in full" he assured her with a calm voice.

Stubborn Melissa couldn't agree. The job was too good to believe and accept.

"Sir that the issue. I never sent my credentials here NIR do I ask for a job. Please look into the details given to you, I'm sure it's not mine. I don't want to get what's not mine".

She was almost pleading although she wished her words were not true. This place is too good to leave.

Mayfield gave her evrrynof the details starting from her not having a father. He left nothing out so as to convince the stubborn lady that they didn't chose the wrong person.

Melissa looked at him dazed. She opened her mouth wide that spit was almost falling out of her mouth before she came back to her senses. She never realised that someone of such status can know her to that extent.

"Sir I don't know you or do I?"

She was looking intensely at the man trying to fix where she met him but it was unfixable.

"You don't ma'am but I do know you and I need you to calm yourself and listen to all I have to tell you" he gave her a warm smile.

Melissa was still dazed by the whole happenings.

"Didn't you get interviewed by the...."

Drew interrupted him. He walked in with two big apples in his hands. He took the chair beside Melissa as if it weighed nothing and sat beside his father.

"Where have you been!" Mayfield asked firmly.

"I took the stairs" he replied blankly darting unfavorable look at Melissa.

"Why?" He frowned.

The stairs was quite a stress. Only few people try that because of it's distance.

"To clear my head of course. Before I do something crazy" he replied in gritted teeth staring hard at Melissa.

Melissa knew she has gotten into it with this proud guy. He now has perfect hatred for her and she would sure be his target. Be that it may, she wasn't willing to let herself get scared of him. She just ignored his stares as if she's not feeling it but she was feeling the hotness of his glare because it was almost burning her up. Yet, she focused on Mayfield who seems nice to her.

Drew hate the fact that she ignored him and he wants to teach her a lesson.

"So my dear," Mayfield turned to her ignoring his son's spoilt attitude. "I thought you should have gotten an interview instead of storming out when we met?"

"No dad, when she hit me and refuse to apologize" Drew said with booming arrogance still glaring at her.

This time Melissa looked at him and she regret doing so because in his eyes was flaming anger. She quickly looked back at Mayfield.

"I did get it sir but the !an wasn't interested in giving me the job"

She tried not to pin point what exactly happened just to save her pride. The guy was already succeeding in making her feel so uncomfortable with his eyes and now if he hear about what happened to her, he will mock her still eternity. She still want to be able ti walk out of this place without shaking.

"What the....."

Drew bit into he apple he held like it was the last thing he will do in his life and the sound echoed through the large room.

Mayfield eyed him in surprise and turned back to Melissa while Drew gave a secret smile.

Melissa looked at him and shook her head. When Drew saw her he frowned.

"What exactly did he say happened that he didn't want you to have the job?"

The guy who was to interview her wasn't given any choice he was told strictly to employ her. So that got Mayfield baffled when he heard that he didn't want her for the job.

"It's not like h...."

Drew chew the apple again that Mayfield and Melissa dart him a stern look at the same time.

"What? What have I done" he feign innocence.

"I don't know when exactly do you become a very good fan of apple that you are chewing on it as if you ain't going to see it in your next life. Can you just behave?"

His voice was a resounding commanding one. He couldn't get what came over his everly composed son that he is acting like a spoilt child.

Melissa twisted the edge of her lips and pressed the together at the same time to avoid laughing.

"Now drop that apple" Mayfield said firmly when he saw that Drew wants to take another bite.

"Dad" he called.

"Do as I say" he ordered.

Drew toss the apples in the bin at the edge of the room without standing nor taking his eyes off Melissa as if she was the one who ordered him to throw it away.

Melissa's eyes followed the apple thinking it was going to fall on the floor but she was amazed when it went right into the been. She was quite impressed that it flashed through her eyes looking back at Drew.

Drew gave her a proud look twisting the edge of his lipand raising his nose as if he is disgusted. Truthfully he was glad that that little performance impressed her.

"Young lady, I sincerely apologize for my son's manners. He's not always so rude" he defended.

Little did he know that the son doesn't need it. He wants to show her his worst character but he wouldn't dare do it right in front of his disciplinarian father. He knows he would be scolded badly and he didn't want that.

"Dad I..."

"Shut up" he hushed.

"No problem sir" she smiled shyly.

"Hey don't believe that I'm not always rude. In fact being rude is my forte. Don't get your hopes high" he asserted quickly with pride flickering in his glowing eye balls.

"Interesting" she laughed.

"What's so funny?" He almost bawled but his father's eyes couldn't let him so he just asked with gritted teeth.

"You" she replied pointing at him her smiles still on her face.

"Are you kidding me?" He snorted.

She shook her head. "Hey listen to me guy. I'm not one of those ladies that think you are the almighty guy they need in their lives. I'm a difference dude and if I get to work here, my forte is to ignore arrogant bosses like you. I'll just do my job and get paid. So don't get your hopes high too" she said calmly, then she gave him a forceful smile and frowned immediately.

Drew was getting quickly used to her sharp tongue and he was ready to retort anytime.

"Who needs your attention anyways? Your attention is my doom. You ignoring me is a blessing mannerless little rat" he spitted out.

"Drew!" His father cautioned.

"What dad? You didn't call her when shes been rude. Is she permitted to be rude while I'm not? "

He wasn't really getting why his father was favoring the unknown girl. He felt jealous because he has always had his father ti himself. Now this lady seems to be coming between them during few minutes that she appeared.

"I'm trying to get a work done here and you are disrupting me. What the heck is wrong with you!" Mayfield asked sternly.

Drew didn't say anything again. He just stared vigorously at Melissa.

Melissa also knew that her stay won't be rosy at all with this guy around.

"I'm sincerely sorry about this" Mayfield apologized again.

"It's nothing".

She waved it off with a sweet smile.

"You were about to tell me the reason for his refusal?" He reminded.

"He actually didn't refuse. He only asked for what I do not intend to give" she replied reducing her voice a bit sheepishly.

"Which is?" He asked naively.

"S - E - X sex" it was Drew that replied in her stead.

Immediately he said that Melissa begin to have headaches and Mayfield was taken aback. He couldn't believe women are still treated that way talk more of happening under his roof.

"What!" He exclaimed. "Is that true?" He asked even though he knew his son is always right. He was really boiling inside.

Melissa couldn't give a reply because she felt so cheap and ashamed. She hated Drew for rubbing salt to her wound. She couldn't even get how he quickly denote that that what happened. Then she came to a conclusion that he is exact the man who said that to her. Si she hated him more. She looked ta her fingers anxiously.

"Oh so Miss soilder can be ashamed. I think that's good" he laughed.

Mayfield looked at him and shocked his head.

"Is that really true?" He asked again since he didn't get her reply.

Melissa nodded giving Drew an under eye look. It was as if she should choke him with her bare hands.

"My goodness. How on earth can he do that? I didn't know he's such a snitch" Mayfield said going ire. "He must have been drawn by your rare beauty because I've never heard of such report about him" he added looking at her pitifully.

Drew snorted with a nauseating look.

"What do you know about this company except for it's growth?" He looked at his father who turned to him to here more. "Clement is a lover of women. Whether it be pretty or ugly. I'm pretty sure he tested female animals already. He is ready for anything that has holes" he talked as if it is a casual thing.

Mayfield gave a amazed look. "How come I didn't know this and you do?"

"That's because all those ladies send me letter about his attitude. Si it's not as if someone has special beauty to attract God's angel" he gave his last words mockingly.

Melissa knew that last word was for her but she never minded since she didn't see herself as so beautiful.

"You know all these and you didn't discipline him?"

"It's none of my business. It's the ladies that fall into his trap's business and since it is not affecting his result I'm less concerned" he gave a nonchalant voice and look.

"What are you saying? What if we didn't encounter her on the way how on earth will we know what happened and we would have lost her".

Mayfield wasn't favoring his son's complacent attitude on the issue he finds important.

" Dad have you forgotten that we only made him get an interview with her just to mark her attendance and to also make her aware of few things. He doesn't have the right to give her a job or take it. Clement is never in charge of employing anyone so he can't do that to anyone either. He was only trying to play smart with her" he explained with a crispy voice.

Ever since Drew walked in he has been screening her with his eyes. He started grow where the large table stopped hiding. He looked at he swollen chesta and he swallow hard. Even though her grey turtle neck blouse his the chest well, it still manage to affect him. He looked at her blue jacket and he snorted. Then his eyes went to the little flesh the turtleneck left, he thought it deserve a glowing jewlery. He raised his head and his eyes met her averagely full lips and his breathe ceased. He tried not to be obvious but it seem hard for him. Her deep blue eyes that was trying to avoid his which she wasn't doing great at wasn't helping matters at all but he was glad that she was feeling quite uneasy looking at him.

He wished she was really ugly and not such a captivating woman. He would have been so glad and ignore her. But with this face it was really hard for him to ignore her. Her dressing was way below his status but she didn't look bad.

Melissa was very uncomfortable with his eyes running a race on her body but she tried to maintain her stability. He was intentionally making her feel so cheap which she decided against.

"Miss O'Dell..." Mayfield called.

"Just Melissa sir" she quickly asserted.

"Ok then Melissa. The reason you are here is because of the report we heard of your hard work and how you were said to always make things better wherever you are".

He paused knowing she would have something to say.

Nobody has ever spoken of her in a good manner. It's either they taunt her with her family and poor living or they want to lure her to their bed. No one thinks she's capable of bringing good so she felt they've chosen wrong.

"Sir I told you earlier that you might be mistaken. I'm not worth those words" she said calmly.

"My dear we know exactly what we are doing ok".

"We?" She asked inwards. "So this guy too knows her background no wonder he is treating me like trash" she thought.

"As you can see, I'm an old man and my only successor is Drew who happens to be my only child".

"No wonder he us so proud" she thought again looking at him and their eyes met because Drew hasn't taken his eyes off her all the while.

"He really needed someone to help him out with the duty of this company and his hospital....."

"So he is a doctor" she thought again.

"He won't be that chanced because of the times he would need to be at the surgery. So that was why we took a bold step to look for someone who is worthy of our trust to take care of the company on his behalf while he would be away and here you are" he explained giving her a welcoming smile.

Melissa was still confused. Her taking care of the company that rates number one in the country? How is that possible? She couldn't even bring herself to digest it.

"Sir I take care of a company? I don't even have the slightest idea on how to run a company" she said with a sad look.

She was really afraid of letting him down.

"You will be taught. It's not really as hard as you think. Just be ready and faithful and you will be fine" he assured her.

"Sir do you think I can do this? I'm with no proper schooling to handle a small business talk more of this big foundation" she said like she's going to cry.

Drew hasn't gotten tired if staring at her and this was worsening her situation.

"You can really do well. If you can all alone manage your younger ones, educate them until they are as old as they are now with good morals at your tender age, I tell you my dear you can rule the world"

The look he gave her was of a father proud of the result hus daughter brought. This really made her a bit calm. She gave a heavy sigh.

"Sir, can you please hold on for few seconds?"

Although Mayfield didn't know why she asked that, he was really gentle with her. He knew no one won't act the was she is doing if told the same. Some will even do more thinking they are up to something bad.

Melissa turned to Drew. "Can you quit looking at me?"

She has had enough if his eyes on her body. Now she's feeling like she's got no flesh anymore.

Drew didn't bulge. "Well since it's my eyes and not yours I put it wherever I like girl" she said crudely.

Melissa touched her foreDrew. tired.

Mayfield looked at Melissa then to Drew who relax himself more to continue his staring business.

"Sir you may continue" Melissa said politely.

"Miss, I want your skills. Your commitment, your vitality. I want you to teach others how to keep up with your strength and wish for survival without having to do immortality. Take this company to the next level and greater height" he said picking her hands into his in a fatherly way.

Even if Melissa didn't have a clue of how to do all that he asked for, she still felt happy that the job was truly hers. She'd be disappointed if it was the other way round.

"Ok sir I'll do my best" she gave him her first genuine smile.

Even Drew felt good with that smile that he almost smiled before he quickly stopped himself.

"So what department am I to work with?" She was now relaxed.

"Didn't you hear all he's been saying? Shouldn't your brain decode that you will be working for me?" He invect.

"Sir must you be rude and harsh to answer simple question?" She glared back at him.

Mayfield ignored Drew.

"You need to get to know everything about the departments in the organization. Just take your time to get conversant with them all. Drew will help you with the rest that the departmental heads couldn't. If you have any question just ask him. He knows the indepth of everything here".

Melissa looked at Drew and Mayfield understood what she meant quickly.

"Don't worry he doesn't have a choice" he also looked at Drew who wore an impassive look.

"You better don't feel save with me" he said in a low threatening voice.

"Don't bother yourself. I'll make sure I wake up everyday remembering there's an alpha wolf waiting to devour me. So, I'll be more than careful" she smiled mockingly at him.

Today was the very first time Melissa will vent her anger or talk just exactly what's on her mind to someone more superior. Even to her peers she always take in all their insult for peace sake. But today she felt so good as she was giving the most respected bachelor a back to back attack. It feels like she got a great achievement. She even felt better than the job she was offered.

Drew bit his lower lip and release a frustrating sigh. "No more peace of mind with this birdmouthed girl sticking around" he murmured.

"Take" Mayfield handed a file to Melissa. "This file include all the necessary documents and information about your appointment without excluding your payment and benefits. Please review it and make known to us which is not palatable to you and we would see to it immediately" he assured.

"Everything will sure be fine by me" she said that inwards. "Alright sir I will" she bowed in appreciation.

"And less I forget, I personally chose few things for use since it will be needed immediately" he handed her a bag. "In there is two phones. One for office and the other for your personal use. There is also a laptop. If it is not to your taste I can ordered it changed" he said.

Melissa knew this was the end of hardship for her and her sisters and the beginning of new life. She was so grateful to God for everything. She was indeed happy from within, even though she felt like screaming for joy, Drew's scrutiny couldn't let her. She knew he was expecting an outburst of joy or for her to act overly happy so that he can use it against her. So she quickly comport herself and thanked the man politely. She wished Drew could just be like his father.

"It's fine sir and I'm so grateful for everything" she bowed herself to show her gratitude.

"No thank" he returned her smile. "Drew you two should get going" he announced suddenly.

Melissa was a bit confused. "Going to where?" She asked herself.

Drew frowned. "And where exactly are we going?"

He didn't want to have anything to do with this lady even when he knew that was an absolute lie to himself. No matter what they are still going to cross path.

"You need to get her fitting attires for office and official occasions" he replied.

Drew dash his father an unbelieving look. He didn't expect it to cross his father's heart that of should be him that would pick her wardrobes. He find it too belittling.

"Dad I don't get you. Did you just tell me to shop for her?"

His looks wasn't friendly that Melissa was not happy that he was disgusted at choosing her wears.

"Yes. You are in the best position to make her look worthy of the post she now holds".

Drew placed his hand on his forehead as if he caught a headache.

"Dad please save me this unnecessary stress. We have lot of folks that are in charge if that" he complained. "I'm too busy to used like that" he added.

"Sir, don't bother him since he is busy. I can easily do that with my sisters" she pleaded.

"As if she has my best interest at heart" he grumbled.

"Don't worry, the few time he would spend won't hurt him" Mayfield said ignoring Drew's protest.

"Dad" he called. "I don't in anyway care about how she looks, all I want is for her to work for me" he said blankly.

"I do care so do not complain and just do as I say" he said firmly.

Drew won't dare disobey his father. "Yes daddy" he said grudgingly.

"Good. Now move".

Drew stood up without another word and left. He didn't even wait for Melissa who doesn't know her way out.

Melissa stood up and thanked Mayfield for everything then ran put to meet Drew but he was out of sight when she got out of the office. She didn't even know where to go and she felt reluctant to go back to ask Mayfield's secretary. She got into the elevator and didn't know where to go. She just stood there like a dummy. For about a minute there was no one she could ask because of where she is, is a restricted area. No one can just opt in or out as they want. They she summoned courage and return to the secretary who told her where to take the elevator to. She thanks him and left quickly.

It wasn't hard for her to find the garage but impatient Drew was already waiting.

"What kept you so lon? Do you think I have lot of time on my hands to waste on your silly self?" He dinned.

Melissa looked at him blankly deciding not to reply because she knew that's exactly what he wanted when he left knowing she didn't know her way out. She also know that his father is not here to scold him so he can misbehave.

"If you want to do sight seeing, can't you choose some other day for that?" He said haughtily.

She pressed her lips together still trying not to be pushed into talking back at him.

Drew entered into his car without telling her if she was going to ride with him or not and since she didn't want to be insulted and disgraced she kept standing, thinking he want her to ride other car sin e it seems like they aren't going with just one.

Drew opened the door and dragged her in that she almost landed on him and the car drove off.

Melissa felt like strangling the guy. She wringled her hand so hard wishing it was his neck. She tried to calm herself but her veins were tightened with anger.

Drew looked at her as she was suckling her lips and sighing at the same time. He also saw how she was squeezing her poor hand that blood was running always from it. He sure knew that hand represents his poor neck and he snorted.

They got into the gigantic and the most expensive mall Melissa has ever seen. Even it's aura got into her. The driver parked and one of Drew's guy can!e to open the car door for them. As Drew got out he headed straight for the door that Melissa had to run after him.

"Wait! " she shouted.

"What!" He asked nonchalantly as he paused.

"Why on earth are you like this? You are treating me like your maid" she said crudely.

"Hey woman! What exactly do you want from me? To hold your hand or what?" He asked scornfully.

Melissa eyed him in annoyance. "All I mean is for you to slow down. Can't you be gentle manly for once?" She said harshly.

Drew laughed angrily. "I made it clear earlier that I'm not in anyway a gentle man" he said arrogantly.

"Then pretend to be one" she retorted.

"I don't pretend" he boasted.

"Then behave like a man that has a sense of pride. Don't behave like a weakling here" she bawled looking at him sternly.

Drew was really vexed at her words. He wondered why she wasn't afraid to talk to him like everyone else will.

"God of all the ladies in the world, why this" he looked sourly at her and released a frustrating breathe.

Drew proceeded into the building but his steps were not so fast and she didn't have to run again.

As they passed all they passed the attendance smiled at Drew. Only few managed to give her a small, while the rest frowned.

Drew moved to the ladies wear and started shopping.

Melissa was watching him closely as he was picking her clothes. She didn't understand the guy at all. It got to a stage that she couldn't take it anymore.

"Sir are you sure you are shopping for me?" She asked after tapping his back gently.

Drew turned his head arrogantly. "Do you think I wear women's clothing dumb Lady?" He insulted.

"I'm not dumb" she growled. "You might want to get for your woman before mine" she rolled her eyes mockingly.

"Let me set things straight here young lady. My dad is the reason I'm here and I don't shop for ladies. So you should se how privileged you are for me been here. Let me remind you if you don't have last memory. I was ordered here and it is not voluntary. Do expect any frivolity or else I will vent all my smothered anger on you" he growled, glaring at her seriously.

Melissa was shaken to the core by that voice. She felt so uncomfortable, knowing that she has pushed him off limit and know that she needs to school herself into accepting all his insult, else their would be outburst of vexation.

"This is fricking annoying" Drew grumbled.

"You can't just be mean to me. I'm not the one who ordered you here. It might be because of me but I didn't ask for it. You can leave if you wish and I'll continue. You don't even know my sizes but you kept on hand picking anyone. So what's the essence of the stress"

She found herself mumbling out. She quickly covered her mouth when she realise she just spoke out what meant to be a thought.

Drew turned, straightened up in all his godlike glory looking at her. Melissa quickly moved back but held his gaze. She wondered how harsh words could come out of his mouth and still he managed to have a eyes as cool as the still waters.

"Wow! He is indeed dashing. No wonder he is a god of pride" she thought.

"You think this is useless because I didn't ask for your sizes?"

Melissa kept quiet.

"Well it's definitely not your fault. It's because I don't know how to disobey my dad" he sighed. "Just know that if I needed that information I would have asked" he said impassively.

"What if I don't like your choice" she stammered out.

"Then throw it out" he said blankly and continued.

Melissa widen her eyes as he said that.

"What manner of guy is this?" She asked herself.

After a while, Melissa was getting tired. Drew stopped, collected all the clothes from the three guys following them slowly, and intentionally dumbed everything on her.

Melissa went down to the floor because of the weight of the clothes. Drew's guys looked away so as not to laugh.

"You are free to test them all" he said as if he did nothing.

The ladies around chuckled mockingly at her.

The rate at which Melissa's anger rose, it showed at the way her chest heaved in and out. Her chest was pounding. She felt like crying but knew that it would add to her humiliation. She eyed the clothes surrounding her, trying not to look at the triumph look on Drew's face.

One of Drew's guy came to help her up and whispered sorry to her. By the time she looked at Drew he folded his arms giving his her his usual blank look.

"You are wasting my time" he said crisply.

Melissa didn't say anything, she just followed the attendance to the dressing room.

"Wow you are so lucky!" The attendance said immediately they entered into the room full of mirrors.

Melissa spinned round and gave the lady a cold glare. "Are you kidding me!" She shouted.

The lady winced at her shout.

"Didn't you just witness what he did to me now and you dare open your mouth to say I'm lucky!" She bawled.

"Miss I know what I'm saying. Dr Drew doesn't come here to shoo for anyone aside himself and his dad neither does he give anyone attention. So you, getting him to act is a good thing" she said smiling.

Melissa didn't know what to reply the lady. She was too angry than to be discussing the annoying guy.

"All I know is that, that guy is a brute" she said and start to leave.

"Miss, aren't you trying the clothes anymore?" The lady followed her.

"I don't need to. They will fit" she replied. "What a product of pride" she said in soliloquy.

"Let's pick something for your sister so they won't think I'm selfish for ignoring them" he said immediately she got beside him.

"Do you know my sister?" She asked surprised.

"No I don't. You said you have sisters" he replied. "You can just do a little description" he added.

Melissa did quickly and he went on with his job.

By the time he was through Melissa was almost falling off her feet. She was really glad when they went for the things they bought and left.

"Can you drive?" He suddenly ask

Melissa shook her head.

"How come you don't know almost everything necessary" he complained.

Melissa didn't say anything she just looked at him.

They drove to Melissa's place. By the time they got there, Melissa's sisters were already outside with worried looks. At first when the cars stopped at their compound, they didn't stand up hut when they saw Melissa come out, they ran to her.

Tyndall began to talk almost immediately. Drew's guy took everything they bought into their house and left immediately.

Drew didn't come out of his car so the ladies didn't notice him. As the guys were returning to the car, Melissa followed them to Drew's car and knock his windscreen for him to wind down which he did and he gave her a plain look.

"I just wanted to say thank you for everything" she said with a sweet smile. Then turned and left.

Drew smiled to himself and they left.

"Whoa! This are all yours?" Tyndall asked as she entered.

Melissa nodded then knelt down and she begin to thank God for everything she got. As she sang tears stream down her chubby cheek. Her sisters joined her and they continued like that for about thirty minutes. After she explained the whole senero to them. They were so happy that they screamed so hard.

"Jeez! This is a miracle" Somaria shouted.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Tyndall jubilates.

"He got you two some stuff" Melissa said smiling.

"Who?" Somaria asked.

"Drew".

Tyndall cocked a brow. "Didn't you say he is mean?"

"Yes he is" Melissa replied nodded his head severely.

"But why get us something?'

She couldn't place how someone could be mean and still took the stress to buy people he didn't know something.

"Did you tell him to?" Somaria asked.

"No I didn't. He said he should get you two something so that you won't think he is selfish" she said with a disdainful look.

"What a lame excuse" Tyndall snorted. "Well thanks to him anyways" she said dragging a bag to herself.

"No that's not yours. It's the ash bag" Melissa told her who sh pointed Somaria's to her.

"God is so good" Somaria sanged giving her sisters a wide smile.

"Of course he is" Tyndall replied happily.
