4.Preparation

Its been two days now since I received the news of my scholarship and even though I am happy I am also terrified . Living in a foreign country is going to be strange and I don't even know anyone there so I wonder how am going to cope . But Karen says I shouldn't worry , that I will adjust to the environment in time .

So anyway I was taking my final exams this for two weeks and then one free before I would be done with middle school and find my way to high school . I had my history paper today so I had to be early , I left the house earlier than usual but of course after eating breakfast.

The day went by fast and I was done with my first final paper, ironic right . I rushed back home , went up to my room took a nap cos man was I tired . I woke up later on when Karen came to call me for dinner . We didn't really hang out much now cos Karen said she wanted to give me time to study and that we would spend a lot of time together after am done with my exams and before I go to high school .

So the days flew by quite fast and I was writing my last paper today , which was Geography . I was quite happy , cos my life was about to change , I was going to England but little did I know how true that was.

I got to school about 8:00am and went to the library to do some final revision , I had about an hour more to start my paper. So exactly 9:00 am I stood up and rushed to the exam hall when they were settling down to begin the paper. After so long a time we were asked to stop work and then the shouting began , all final year middle school students were jumping the halls and running around , oh it was a site to see.

Even though I was done with my school , we still had to report back the following week for any final announcements and for the scholarship students we had to meet the representatives from the various high schools.

I had just gotten home when I heard the roaring of an engine in the driveway , signaling that Karen just got home. I parked my bike and joined her as we entered the house , I ran upstairs to take a quick shower while Karen went to begin dinner .

We were having pasta with vegetables and sauce, I dropped down from the stairs and set the table after which ten minutes later we sat down to eat.

''So how does it feel to be done with middle school , I am so happy for you child''. Karen said

''Trust me, not more happier than me , my life in middle school has been a torture and I hope that high school will be better'' I replied . we stood up and I cleared the table , did the dishes and joined Karen in the living room .

We watched the rerun of friends , a walk to remember , the fault in our stars but of course not without the tears and the laughter .

''I really hope we spend some quality time together before you go off to school cos you're now a young lady and things wont be the same again.

''Me too Karen , I will miss you ''

''hey hold your horses , you are not gone yet , why!!!?? ''.

And just like that we burst out laughing. ooh man it felt good and I was really gonna miss this. After another movie, I headed off to bed and instantly drifted off.

Since we were officially done with our exams we were kind of allowed to report to school late , only the final year students, that is. So on Wednesday I went to school and was told that we would meet the representatives today, I couldn't wait . After a while we were called to the office and told they were in.

I walked into the office and saw about five people not including the principal, who were two ladies and three gentlemen . two of the men were quite tall and one was average height. Both the ladies were tall and beautiful.

I was introduced to the person coming from Regent Royal High.

''Miss Anderson , this is Mrs Renee Jefferson, the Director of Regent Royal High where you will be studying for the next four years and also the Administrative Representative.

'' Hello , Mrs Jefferson nice to meet you . And if I must say I am really grateful for this opportunity to be studying with you and I promise to make the most out of it.

''You are welcome , dear . I have looked over your performance here and I know you deserve this so don't worry . I just hope you will do same over there.

'' I will '' , thank you.

''Okay , then lets begin with the basics of what you need to know. As we left the principals office, I couldn't help but study her properly.

She was a brunette with light toned skin and black silky but long hair unlike me with just plain normal black hair. She had brown eyes , she had on a blue black suit and a pair of black stiletto heels.

We got to the library and sat where she explained every thing into detail about the school and I must say it is very well equipped . She also brought a prospectus for me in which were a few pictures of the school.

It was a very huge place , trust me. The buildings looked very old but strong as though they had been there for centuries and I wouldn't be surprised if they were . They were about four different buildings and she explained that two of them were for classes and the other two were the dormitories. After about another two hours she finished and left and said that when it was time to go she would book the plane ticket and arrange everything so all I had to do was arrive and she would pick me up.

About 30minutes later I got home and and told Karen everything and we discussed the list of things I would need and how we could get them . Since I was to go to school in two months we spent the next few weeks shopping and packing so we could use the final weeks to hang out. All too soon I had just two weeks more to go to school and I was so nervous I couldn't even eat well.

I was really going to miss her a lot. Even if she wasn't my real mom I loved her a ton and she had really cared for me like no other . And so with all this thoughts we spent the last days spending almost all our time together the best way we could do.
