A PIERCING GAZE.
Jane paced in front of the theatre anxiously. It had been nine hours since the surgery started and it was already nine pm. How long was this going to take? Forever? Well, no matter how long it took, she was ready to wait. Joy had already gone home because of her husband and children so she was the only one left to be restless.
After waiting for what seemed to be eternity, she finally saw the surgeons walk out of the theatre with a tired look. She tried to prep but the door was closed again. One of the surgeons who saw her behavior stopped in front of her.
" Calm down, Miss, everything is fine now because the surgery was successful but for now, you need to be patient so they can finish cleaning him up. " It felt like a huge burden was finally lifted off her shoulders. She smiled happily at the man who nodded and left so he could go and rest.
" Yes. It's finally over. " She would not feel any desperation any longer, she was going to be happy for the rest of her days or so she thought. Her brother was brought out again on a stretcher.
His eyes were closed but she didn't care about that as she followed him to his ward. The nurses excused them. Jane with all gladness checked her brother's temperature and other parts of his body that were stitched. Right now, there was nothing more that mattered to her than that. She picked up her phone and called Joy to share the joyful news with her but her like wasn't reachable.
So she went out and bought some snacks for herself to reduce the terrorizing sound of hunger.
On her way back, everything became new again, the atmosphere had a new meaning to her, the lights in each store shone brighter than ever in her eyes and she could hear the voices of laughter. She smiled but it only faded off when she remembered what journey and route her life would embark on now.
While talking with Old Madam Ryan, the woman assured her that she was free to visit whomsoever she wanted to but she must perform the role of a wife and companion to her dear grandson. She also mentioned that Jane was expected to be with him from the next day onwards.
She just wanted a normal perfect life maybe being with this mysterious man wouldn't be that bad.
She could sense someone's piercing gaze on her but when she looked around, she didn't see anyone who seemed to have caught her attention so she shrugged the feelings off and kept on walking.

Allen got out of his office late at night and headed towards his car.
" Don't you want me to drive you, Allen? " Xander asked.
" Don't worry, I will be fine. I just wanna stop at Granny's house. " Allen opened the car and entered. He ignited the engine and drove off. Bert looked at the two men beside him and got into a playful mood.
" So, what's next? " He asked.
Kyle flinched his suit jacket at Xander who caught it and gave him the ' what the hell, dude? ' look. Kyle did not even glance at him and entered his car, he then shot them a last look before zooming off.
" I can't find any difference between Allen and Kyle. They are both ice Kings, so boring. " Bert complained.
" Come on, let's find our way home. " Xander pulled him along as they entered into one of the cars and Bert drove them away from the building.
Allen stopped at a store to receive an important call when he noticed her, the girl he rescued yesterday roaming the streets. Even though it was dark, he could still see her. He knew that at any moment she could turn around so he closed the car's window and made sure that she had left before bringing it down. His intimidating gaze didn't depart as he stared at her retreating figure in the dark before leaving.
Ever since he had met her that fateful evening, he had been feeling some strange emotions that he couldn't explain yet and it was eating him slowly. He wasn't curious about anything or anybody before except his mission but now, he had another reason to be curious he just did not know if that was the right thing to do.
