Chapter 1Chapter 1: The Meat-Loving Boy

Loga Star, part of the fourth administrative district of the Galaxy Federation, was the most remote star body in the Federation's territory. A planet that should have only had a code name came to be named after Major General Loga, the highest-ranking officer who sacrificed his life in several brutal battles to defend the Federation. Although it was a special case, the planet was still forgotten by most people.

Thick layers of space debris floated around the planet. The only safe route belonged to the planet's management, and resources below the Federation's average only arrived every two months. Most people continued to struggle on the brink of hunger and poverty.

District 22's central area remained brightly lit and bustling. As dusk approached under the gray sky, the vibrance and the silence created an odd harmony.

Thirty kilometers from the city, an abandoned factory was littered with chaotic industrial refuse, including damaged Mecha fragments that couldn't be repaired. On this resource-starved planet, the authorities lacked time and goodwill to handle this rubbish. The free labor from the slums solved these annoying problems for them, saving the government considerable expense, so why not?

Silent wilderness surrounded, with occasional squeaks breaking the stillness. In a factory corner, sparks flickered sporadically, and a campfire burned quietly, casting the shadow of a tall figure on the ruined walls.

Mu Fan, 17, didn't know who his parents were. His foster parents told him they found him behind a trash can during their scavenging. The sky was barely light, and the star's rays evenly and softly lit the baby's face. When his foster father picked him up, two tags fell off: a deep yellow wooden one carved with "Mu," and a dark metal one with "Fan."

Without overthinking the order of the words, his foster father named him Mu Fan, based on the natural flow. Having had the chance to read a few books, he gave him this name. During childhood, Mu Fan never asked about his origins, and by the time he was old enough to inquire, his foster parents were taken by a stray bullet while scavenging during a Star Thief raid. Mu Fan was left with no opportunity to ask about the past. He was ten that year.

Mu Fan was not talkative but very understanding of life's realities. He didn't cry upon hearing the news. Instead, he returned to their rundown shack, found an old pair of worn gloves they had scavenged, and began helping acquaintances and strangers alike with labor. He moved items, washed dishes in suburban restaurants, delivered packages for city residents, and returned to sell scraps from the factory waste… Now, with no one left but himself, he had to survive.

It had been seven years since his parents' passing. Mu Fan glanced at the campfire before continuing to sharpen a small knife that gleamed coldly. He didn't pay much attention to his appearance; his hair was a disheveled black, his body not particularly strong but tall. When he lifted his eyelids, brown eyes showed, but a closer look would reveal a red gleam flickering in their depths, like roses or congealed blood.

By now, the weather in District 22 had turned chilly. Mu Fan wore a canvas-stitched jacket and oil-stained work pants. He took advantage of evening breaks to sharpen his weapon, a dagger honed from industrial alloy. He was at an age when his body consumed energy quickly. With weekly earnings, he would purchase bundled books from the old book market. The rest allowed him to only barely avoid starving with the cheapest synthetic food that normally filled a person with two packs a day. If he didn't go out to find food, he would remain in this cycle.

One day, he saw not far away a buzzard take flight while on his way back. Curiously, he saw a black shape drop from mid-air—it was half a Plant Rat. In the dancing flames, Mu Fan tasted meat for the first time.

One of Mu Fan's survival rules was to hunt twice a week. Whether large or small, dead or alive, any gain was a victory. He desperately needed this energy, for his body clearly craved meat.

"Shhh," a final spark flew out, and Mu Fan put away the knife, holding the sharp blade lightly in his left hand. He examined it in the firelight, squinting with satisfaction. Tonight—he would eat meat!

...

The nights on Loga Star were as cold as steel, freezing to the bone.

Mu Fan walked shirtless through the wilds. The scars crisscrossing his body were like battle medals, and though lean, his form displayed naturally aesthetic muscle lines, exuding a hidden explosiveness.

Mu Fan didn't feel the cold his neighbors spoke of. Instead, he only felt a brain-clearing, exhilarating chill that he enjoyed. He didn't know why he was always hungry, but found that his endurance seemed to surpass others by several times… or more. He had no concept and no interest in inquiring.

Under the night's cover, unnoticed by anyone, Mu Fan had reached the edge of a forest 15 kilometers from the factory. In the serene night, Mu Fan seemed to merge with the land, his steaming presence the only sign of his existence.

A river flowed there. During the night, while others found its waters biting, Mu Fan loved its chill for washing away blood and sweat, occasionally catching a fish for a raw meal. As long as it was meat!

Tonight's goal was to hunt a large animal. He felt an ever-growing hunger, knowing that two Plant Rats weren't enough anymore. He needed more meat.

This forest was far from the city. On a remote, impoverished planet like Loga Star, the authorities lacked the means to deploy many satellites for monitoring. The sparse human settlements fought against nature, allowing this forest to maintain its original form. Stronger beasts roamed here, making for richer food.

With a swoosh, Mu Fan stopped, his bright eyes gleaming. Standing at the forest's edge, he caught the scent of a Mutant Beast nearby. There it was! A Mutant Beast's aura filled with agitation, and Mu Fan's stomach growled again. He bit his lip, a red glow flashing in his eyes!

He needed meat!

Desire is the primal drive of humans. When a rapidly growing body encounters hunger, it fuels an unparalleled strength, more so for Mu Fan, who had tasted meat!

Closing his eyes and reopening them, the faint red glow in Mu Fan's eyes vanished, yet his vision sharpened, seeing the forest, insects, and birds vividly against the once invisible night. He couldn't recall when he discovered his keen night vision, but after finding several Plant Rats with it, he began consciously training this seemingly divine gift.

The night sky, thick clouds blocked the star's reflected light.

A "Meteor" streaked through the atmosphere, casting a glow across the clouded sky...

Damon's Ascension

Humanity is caught in a great upheaval after the Intergalactic Union of All Species coincidentally discovers their existence on what they had formerly considered to be the fringe of the universe. Without any say in the matter, they get indicted into the Union as a legal member. Unfortunately, this meant that they were now obligated to partake in the exploration of a new Chaotic Realm parallel to their universe containing rich energies, resources, and essence that the universe itself craved. To that end, the universe has created its own will, which seeks to gather all races and strengthen warriors from them to explore the dangerous but lucrative Chaotic Realm, initiating the Augmented Reality simulation, Essence. In Essence, one can experience a carefully crafted universe similar to an RPG game, either by going in through your soul or going in through VR. The former means that death is true, and the latter is similar to a normal FIVR experience. Those who go in with their souls can freely receive feedback from their 'game characters' to obtain all stats, skills, and items they acquire in Essence, while those who go in with VR do not obtain that benefit. However, those who pay for it in Essence can receive an awakening of genetic talent called abilities. These abilities are graded from F to EX, a total of 10 stages. Not much is expected from the human race when the first 100 participants get chosen at random from the public - a standard protocol - only for each one of them to awaken at least an A-grade ability. Then, there was Damon Arnan, a young Ghanaian politician, who ended up awakening, not one, not two, but three EX-Grade Talents. The human race, which had just entered the galactic playground, was about to experience a storm with Damon smackdab in the middle.

Tempest of the Stellar War

He received a genetic score of 28... completely disqualifying him from applying to military college! He helped deliver a friend's love letter... and fell into a lake becoming infamous for dying for love! His very first gift... warped him into a brutal training simulation! However he perserved through all these trials! Our Dear Student Wang Zheng has finally started his lucky(?) university life! This is the song of a blood boiling and exciting storm! The most ferocious and heated mecha adventure around is finally here! TL Note: This is a novel about doing the impossible, seeing the invisible. Follow along for a ride across the universe! TL;DR: Not Shakespeare, not complex, but fun and easy to read. Come support! As the translator, I've enjoyed translating this novel and I hope to bring the essence of what the author has tried to portray into the chapters you will read. To sum it up in 3 words: Mechs! Explosions! Science! To be perfectly honest, this novel is about your typically overpowered protagonist who does get looked down from time to time but always overcomes the odds with his own special power. He's abit more mature having grown up on his own and just a littttttttle bit dense. Although it always ends up with him winning, it always happens in an interesting (subjective) and fun way that makes me enjoy reading this. The novel has elements of lighthearted comedy from time to time and I do chuckle at how direct the humor is. It's not as smart as say WMW nor does it weave an intricate story much like Ergen's novels. More importantly, its fun and it doesn't try to hide it.

Intergalactic conquest with an AI

Rex was just another slave in the corporate machine, a faceless office worker under the shadow of one of the galaxy's powerful megacorps. His life was predictable and dull, an endless cycle of meaningless reports and fluorescent-lit monotony. That was, until that day.... When a new world was discovered on the outskirts of the galaxy, Rex, like countless other low-ranking employees, found himself dragged into a contract clause he’d barely skimmed years ago. The megacorp ordered him and his coworkers to pack their lives into a transport pod and leave for the unexplored planet. Their mission? Establish a colony. Mine resources. Make the company richer. There was no choice, refusing meant ruin. At first, everything seemed manageable. The days were grueling, the nights cold, but progress was steady. The colony was coming to life. Until the excavation team struck something. No one knew what it was at first, a buried hive, a forgotten ecosystem, or something ancient and dangerous. Whatever it was, it unleashed hell. Swarms of enormous, chittering creatures erupted from the ground, their jagged bodies blotting out the sky. The colony fell into chaos. Screams echoed through the air as the bugs tore through everything in their path, walls, machines, and people. Rex barely survived. Bloodied, broken, and pinned beneath the rubble, he should have died there. But in the pitch-black silence of his fading consciousness, a voice spoke to him. Cold. Mechanical. Otherworldly. "Do you wish to live?" When Rex woke, he was no longer the man he’d been. His body was no longer human flesh and bone but something far more alien. His skin shimmered with living metal, his mind infused with the power of Cleo, a mysterious AI from a long-extinct, robotic race known as the Kaelzars. Cleo’s presence pulsed through his thoughts, guiding him and transforming him. He wasn’t just alive. He was reborn. But survival came at a price. Rex was no longer a pawn of the megacorp; he was something more dangerous, something they couldn’t control. As Cleo’s intentions began to reveal themselves, Rex found himself standing on the precipice of war, not just with the bugs but with forces far greater than he could have imagined. This was the beginning of a journey through blood-soaked battlefields and treacherous alliances. Along the way, Rex would encounter allies, brilliant, flawed, and unpredictable, and enemies whose ambitions were as sharp as their blades. These weren’t disposable foes, easily crushed by an overpowered hero. They were cunning, relentless, and human in the most terrifying ways. But then again, in war, who can truly be called a villain? With honesty. I've read only up to chapter 6. And this review will be based on my impression regarding the story's progress, the MC's character, the world background, the relevance of the content to the plot and the translation. Story wise, it's shaky. The author does not have propriety regarding how to develop a story with a good flow. He keeps on jumping here and there that it made me forget the name of the MC after reading a few chapters because he kept dumping information that should only be introduced a bit sooner but not later while neglecting relevant and important information that should be useful in shaping the concept of the novel which is, "What is a Mech in this novel". If we want to talk about an apple, I think we should first describe how it came to be, what composes it, and how does it taste like before talking about apple candy or an apple pie. The MC's character: He appears to be a resilient, smart, and strong individual while being easily annoyed and a bit negligent at the same time. The world background: Well written but gives off the "I've read this before" vibe. Content wise, it's jam-packed but lacks an essential ingredient. "The Mech/Mechs and its specifications, uses, kinds, types, size, etc.". It's irritating to read a mech novel, wherein there is too much info dump, but the mechs are still vaguely introduced. The translation: is pretty good. Being able to deliver especially translating sci-fi type novel is commendable. I will continue reading it, maybe. I'm a fan of this kind of novels but, I choose what I read. So far, it's not up to the level of "I want to continue to reading it" yet. (I'll be updating this review if I ever got the chance to do so)
