My decision

Owen's P.O.V.

"So let me get me straight. Your boss offered you a job at the company before your internship ended on top of that he offered you a spot in the team going to Australia and you got a day off from the job so now you can go on a date with your mate, right?" Jess said. He paused for a second with a confused look. "Sorry, I'm not getting what you are so stressed about." He added. Still the same confused expression on his face.

"I know, I know it sounds like the best thing ever. But how am I supposed to drop this bomb on Jason about the offer I got in Australia?" I am sad, scared and I don't know what to do.

"Look, you are going to accept the job offer at the company, right?" he was looking straight into my eyes.

"Yes."

"You are only concerned with the thing about Australia?"

"Yes!"

"Do you wanna go to Australia?" He had this empathetic look in his eyes. It was like he was looking into my soul.

"I don't know. I'm not sure. It's a great opportunity but..." I did not know how to finish that sentence.

"So, why don't you make up your mind first! Consider both options and decide what you think would be the best choice. Deal with the consequences later." He sounded wise.

"But how am I supposed to choose?"

"Just don't think about anything else. Think about yourself. What would make you happy?"

And there was silence for a long time. I was lost in my thoughts, trying to understand what I want. I was lost for a very long time and Jess was just sitting across from me reading one of his books that were written in some weird alphabet.

I looked out of the window and at the lake. It was sparkling as always. It was already dark, but the light from the moon and a billion stars were reflected by the clear water. And it felt magical, it felt like the familiar hand of my mom caressing my head when I was in middle school. When I used to cry in her arms and she would stroke my hair telling me it was all right, it felt just like that. My mother's warm hug. A familiar but addicting feeling.

"I know," I said and Jess jumped a little because he was surprised.

"Good. Just do that." He only said that. I was thinking he might ask me what I decided but it looked like he already knows. I did not know what to say to that so I stood there quietly for a while.

"Um... It's getting pretty late; I should head back." I said.

After that, I head back home. And I'm so glad I went to see him; he always knows what to say. And I don't know why but I think his place is a great place to make decisions.

My parents were in the kitchen and Hailey was doing her homework while watching some teen rom-com movie when I reached the home.

"Is it spaghetti and meatballs?" I asked as soon as I got the sniff.

"Yup." My mother replied.

"Wow, how can your love change this quickly? I remember just before a couple of months ago you were setting up a buffet for my breakfast and now what do I get? Spaghetti and meatballs?" I said sarcastically.

"Oh, honey. It's not you, it's me." My mom said dramatically like someone in the way someone in the movie breaks up.

"Ouch." I pretended like an arrow was shot at my heart.

"Thank God. You ever said that to me." My dad said as he picked the pasta out of the boiling water.

"How can I say that to this cute face of yours." My mom cupped my dad's face.

And Hailey started to pretend like throwing up. And then we all just started laughing.

"Honey, set up the table the dinner's ready." My mom ordered me. We all sat down after I placed everything on the dining table.

The dinner was going pretty great, just like always mom and dad talking about their cases and things happening in the town, Hailey was talking about the things that happened in the school, and so on.

"Did you guys hear? There is gonna be a ball in the town?" Hailey asked out of nowhere.

"What? Where did you hear that from honey?" said my mom.

"You know Jason's new villa is ready? The one by the river?" Hailey was immersed in that.

"Yes!" my dad said absentmindedly.

"Words are going around the school that Mr. Gregory wants to throw a ball and planning to invite everyone in the town and some of the people from our alliances." She halted.

"So, it's just a rumor." My mom was rolling her eyes.

"No. It's a fact. It's from a reliable source."

"And by a reliable source, you mean the chat group of a bunch of high school girls, particularly made to gossip." My mom said like she knew everything.

"HEY! It's not like that. We talk about important things in the group." Hailey was defending herself.

"Whatever you say, honey." My dad said. "Anything new with you Owen? You are being unusually quiet today? Is there a problem?" he asked me.

"No...No...There's no problem." I made a sad face. "IT'S JUST THAT MR> WILSON OFFERED ME A JOB AS AN ARCHITECT IN HIS CCCCCOOOOOOMMMMMPPPPPAAAAANNNNNNYYYYY," I said jumping up and I sand the company part.

"WHAT!" they all said at the same time.

I did not tell them about Australia because I want to tell Jason first. Let me tell you, now that I have decided what I want to do, it does not seem like it was that hard of a decision. I knew what I wanted but I was complicating things unnecessarily.

"Yup!" I'm officially an architect.

"OMG! That's great news. Let me get that wine your dad has been saving up for a good cause." My mom said and went to grab the bottle.

"Congratulation son."

"Ya. Congratulation." My dad and Hailey said and then hugged me. My mom came out with a bottle of wine and four glasses.

"Am I finally allowed to drink?" Hailey asked with sparkles in her eyes.

"Of course... ... Not. You can drink the coke." My mom said with an evil smile. And then my father popped the bottle and served the wine.

After that, the only topic of the talk during the dinner was me and my job. After having dinner and talking for an hour with my family, I went to my room. It was already nine. I was feeling tired and decided to take a shower. Having a shower is the best remedy if you are feeling tired.

I had just come out of the bathroom when I heard my phone ring. It was Jason.

"HEY!" I was excited to hear his voice.

"HEY! Are you free?"

"Yup. I have all the time in the world for now." Am I being cheesy?

He chuckled.

"I even have a date tomorrow! Can you believe Mr. Wilson gave me a day off?" I spoke. Why am I so excited? I wanna tell him everything that happened today. But I have to tell him on the face. I can't just say that on phone.

"WOW! Aren't you the luckiest person in the world!" he was being sarcastic. And I know, he meant that after working continuously for three weeks I'm happy because I got one day off.

"YA...Ya... Mr. I'm-my-own-boss. By the way, Are you free tomorrow?" I asked.

"Well, actually... I have this really important meeting in the afternoon." He sounded sad. I know he has been waiting to spend time together but it must be an important meeting. "But I'm free in the evening." He added.

"COOL. So, how about we have dinner together?" I asked, why are my hands sweaty?

"I'd love that!" He was so hyped up. "But can I choose the place? PPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEEE" I could only hear his voice but it was like I could see him making those puppy eyes.

"Fine! Fine!"

"Okay. I'll pick you up at seven."

"Seven?"

"Yup. It will take some time to get there." He said weirdly. I have fallen straight into his trap.

"Okay." I am nervous now.

"Okay... ... ..." there was a long silence. "Um...You should get some rest; you must be tired." He added.

"You too. Have a nice sleep. Good night!" I replied.

"Good night! Oh! by the way, you looked so hot today." He spoke that out of nowhere and I hung up the call. He can be mischievous sometimes. I felt like the temperature in my room suddenly rose ten degrees. 'Calm down Owen, calm down.' I said to myself.

'Okay! I shouldn't drag it any longer. I'll tell him tomorrow.' I thought after I calmed down a little.

Sometimes I really think that I'm a maniac. Because I always give you this cliffhanger and hurt you and the characters and I'm the only one who knows what's gonna happen (Evil laugh). Do I wish to change, Be a better person? Not in a million years. HE...HA...HA...HA...

But there's so much in this chapter...first of all, JJJJJJJJJJJJEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS... ughu...ughu... I mean there's Jess in this chapter, whatever. Then what are these rumors Hailey is talking about and lastly what the fuck did Owen decide? Is he gonna go to Australia or is he going to stay? Oh...Oh.. and Owen and Jason are gonna go on the long-awaited date...well, I mean why does that concern me...they can do whatever they like. It's not like I'm jealous of them. PUFF.

I hope you enjoyed the chapter. I can't wait to show you what is coming next. And just like Owen, I hope you all succeed in what you are doing and what you want to do, and one day all of your dreams come true.

Okay, see you all next week.

Love you all.
