A group of people crowded together and quickly ate the food in the lunch boxes on the table.
Almost everyone put as much as they could into their mouths, wanting to eat it immediately.
Their looks showed that they were happy, and they could not help but compliment him.
"Oh my goodness, these are the most delicious egg tarts I've ever had!"
"I never thought cake could be this tasty!"
"The one with sticky rice and minced meat is also good; it feels like Chinese food."
"I know that one, it's called siu mai. They sell it in Chinatown, but it's not as delicious."
...
Kara stood to the side, awkwardly watching her coworkers, who looked like they hadn't eaten for days.
She apologized to Jack, "I'm... sorry, they..."
"No! Don't apologize to me. We don't need to have that kind of talk."
Jack interrupted her, then appeared in his hand with another small lunch box in his hand.
"Those are for your coworkers, this one is your lunch."
Kara took the lunch box in shock and felt a warm electricity rush through her heart. She couldn't help but say those three words.
"Thank you!"
This time, Jack didn't stop her. He just looked at her kind of helplessly, took her hand, and softly stroked it.
They were quiet and just looked at each other as if the noise outside did not bother them.
"Alright, I'm leaving. I'll come to pick you up in the afternoon."
Before she could respond, Jack smiled, suddenly leaned in, and lightly kissed her lips. He then turned and walked away quickly.
"He's gone."
At the moment their lips touched, Kara felt an electric shock, a shiver running through her body.
Before she could say anything, Jack had already entered the elevator.
She felt bad, so she looked around as if she had done something wrong.
When she saw that no one seemed to have noticed, she sighed in relief.
Kara thought for a while as she lowered her head down and looked at the lunchbox she was holding.
Finally, she looked like she had made a big choice, judging by the look in her eyes.
On the other side, When Jack got to the first floor, someone stopped him before he could reach the exit.
"What's wrong? You still don't trust me?"
Jack smiled as he looked at Alex standing in front of him.
She could be considered his future sister-in-law, and he couldn't treat her lightly.
Alex looked at him with a complicated expression for a while, then turned and walked outside.
"Follow me."
Jack obediently followed her, and the two of them arrived at the parking lot and got into the car.
"What exactly are you planning?"
In the passenger seat, Alex showed a hint of dissatisfaction in her expression, her gaze sharp as she stared at Jack.
"What am I planning? Can't you tell?"
Jack shrugged with a smile.
"A boy being focused on a girl, what do you think I'm planning?"
Alex clenched her teeth and warned in a low voice,
"Clark and Kara believe in you, but that doesn't mean I do. If you dare to hurt Kara, even if it's just making her shed a tear, I absolutely, absolutely won't let you off."
The threatening words made Jack couldn't help but look into her eyes.
Eyes cannot deceive.
Alex's eyes showed Jack that she really cared about Kara and was afraid of him.
Although they had no blood relation to Kara, Alex had done everything an elder sister should do.
To be honest, she was envious and even somewhat jealous of Kara's superpowers, but it didn't affect their relationship.
Even though Jack thought this threat was a bit silly, he still admired her, given the situation. She had the guts to tell him.
All of this was because of Alex's love for Kara.
He thought for a moment, hesitated for a moment, and seemed to have made a decision.
With a flip of his palm, a test tube filled with golden liquid appeared in his hand.
"Words alone won't protect Kara."
As he spoke, Jack's biofield directly trapped Alex.
With her eyes, filled with a mix of shock and anger, he took a syringe out of his pocket and put it in the test tube.
"This is the latest version of the enhanced serum, free from the influence of Kryptonite, the weakness of mental abilities. As for the rest, you'll have to experience it yourself."
Jack smiled at Alex and shot the syringe right into her neck, ignoring her angry expression.
The golden liquid was pushed out, and Alex felt a cool sensation starting from her neck, which spread throughout her body in just a few seconds, and then... nothing.
"I won't tell you what this thing is, figure it out for yourself."
Jack smirked mysteriously, the car door opened automatically, and Alex's body floated out slowly.
In one breath, he shut the door, turned on the car, and drove away.
After Jack had left for quite some time, Alex finally regained consciousness and did a flip to get up off the ground.
Hiss
Alex took a sharp breath, not because she was in pain but because she felt cold all over.
Her body temperature was dropping drastically. If this continued, Alex even doubted whether she would freeze to death in the parking garage.
With one hand rubbing her neck, she took her device out of her pocket and called Hank, who was her boss.
"How's it going?"
Hank Henshaw's stern face appeared on the screen. Before he could ask a second question, Alex interrupted him.
"He injected me with some unknown substance. I'm feeling colder and colder now, you have to..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Alex felt her vision go black, and she instantly lost consciousness.
After an unknown period of time, when Alex regained consciousness once again, she found herself back in the medical room at the DEO headquarters, with Hank guarding her side.
Alex also noticed that, besides him, there were several other fully armed agents in the room's corners, all of whom were carefully watching her.
"Hank, what happened?"
Alex tried to sit up, but she had no strength at all, so she had to lie back on the bed.
"You passed out in the parking garage, and we brought you here based on the location."
Hank had a serious expression and looked at Alex with complicated eyes.
"Thank you for saving me."
Alex remembered the danger she had just faced and felt grateful towards Hank, even though she couldn't understand his next words.
"Actually, we didn't do anything."
Hank sighed and handed Alex a tablet from the guard beside him.
"Take a look for yourself."
Alex took the tablet because he did not understand why Hank was so serious.
But when she saw the contents of the tablet, her reaction was even more unbearable than Hank's.
"This can't be true!"
