Wanda went to school, and even though she had already received the acceptance letter from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), she still needed to finish this semester.
As for what she was looking forward to... well, Jack had only one word for her to delay.
He would delay it as long as possible, even though it might make Wanda feel disappointed. But Jack's heart could not get over the problem.
She was only sixteen!
Although some states in the US even support child marriage, but...
Jack told Wanda that once she officially started college next year, he would give her a clear answer.
Next year, she would be seventeen, technically eighteen...
That's the only way to drag it out.
Jack sighed with some annoyance. Suddenly, he raised his eyebrows and turned to look at the living room.
A portal quickly appeared, and the Ancient One appeared behind the door.
"Ancient One? What brings you here?"
Jack greeted her with a smile. They were considered old friends, so he wanted to invite her to sit down and have a cup of tea.
However, the Ancient One's expression was serious. She waved her hand and said,
"Follow me."
Jack frowned. It was the first time he had seen the Ancient One so serious. Has something big happened?
With that thought in mind, Jack stepped into the portal and found himself standing in front of a castle.
He was very familiar with this castle, which made it even more unbelievable.
He looked at the Ancient One, hoping she would give him an answer.
"This is located in Westchester, New York. The place where you're standing was just empty land a day ago, but now a mansion has appeared,"
The Ancient One spoke, her tone serious as she scanned the surroundings, as if afraid that some otherworldly demon might pop up.
"Alright, let me try to make sense of this!"
Jack pressed his temples with both hands, looking around in disbelief at the century-old castle.
Yes, everything was just as he remembered it, right down to the smallest details.
He even ran into the castle and looked at each room until he reached an answer.
"Is this... Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters? But... why?"
He asked the Ancient One, returning to the grassy area and looking at her, hoping for an explanation.
This was indeed the Xavier Mansion, the future Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
The question was, How was this possible?
He was still in his own universe that much was sure.
Although the Ancient One was powerful, she hadn't reached the point of crossing multiple universes through portals.
And no one else could have tried to hide it on purpose.
Because under the mansion, there was Charles' Cerebro and Hank's laboratory.
Jack even checked some of the research materials and video logs on the computers.
All the evidence indicated that this was the Xavier Mansion he knew.
This left Jack confused.
The Ancient One looked at him and raised her hand, conjuring a magical timeline in front of them.
"This is our universe,"
she said, pointing at the timeline.
"Because of your existence, our universe has remained hidden in the multiverse. Ordinary people couldn't perceive its existence."
Jack nodded. He knew this. That's why their universe remained peaceful even after the multiverse war caused by Kang.
"But, since you killed Thanos early, things have started to change slowly,"
The Ancient One said, creating another timeline and slowly merging the two timelines together.
The fusion was slow, almost invisible, but it was only a matter of time before the two timelines merged completely.
Seeing this scene, Jack understood without the Ancient One having to explain.
"Are you saying that because Thanos died earlier, it triggered some cause and effect, and our timeline is merging with other timelines?"
Jack asked, and the Ancient One nodded.
Then, shaking her head, she explained to Jack, who looked puzzled.
"That's right, but it's not a merging of timelines. It's a devouring. Our timeline is devouring other timelines, and the first target is the universe you once visited."
Jack furrowed his brow.
Devouring?
That wasn't a good word at all.
"You don't really have to worry. When the two timelines merge into one, there won't be many changes. Basically, the countless timelines in the vast multiverse are all in the same world. People won't even notice this. The existence of mutants in this universe won't appear unexpected, and the greater universal consciousness will fix any mistakes."
The Ancient One paused for a moment before continuing,
"However, there are certain special beings, especially those who are very close to you, who might sense something, like Jean Grey, also known as Phoenix, and... Wanda."
"Yeah, that's what I'm worried about,"
Jack replied, his face showing a tired expression. He had thought that these two people couldn't meet across universes, but now...
"How much longer will it take?" he asked.
"Based on the current progress, it will probably take ten years for complete fusion. Until everything settles down, no one will notice this,"
The Ancient One explained.
Ten years?
That was indeed a long time.
After thinking for a moment, Jack felt it was necessary to visit the universe of the X-Men and see how things were over there.
But before that, there was another question.
"Master, did you call me here because there's something you need me to do?" Jack asked.
From the expression on the Ancient One's face, he could see that bigger problems were coming and that only he could solve them.
Sighing deeply, the Ancient One replied,
"Because of the devouring and merging of timelines, our timeline has been exposed to the entire multiverse."
"...That's not good news at all,"
Jack said, his expression growing more serious. If that were the case, things would become quite troublesome.
From the current perspective, a chaotic battle in the multiverse was inevitable.
After their timeline was exposed, there was no guarantee that some troublesome characters wouldn't sneak in.
It wasn't that he was worried about their strength. Currently, he is quite powerful in the entire multiverse.
But the problem was, there were too many overpowered people in the Marvel comics, and he wasn't sure if he could handle all of them as a powerful person himself.
"I will continue to monitor the state of the timelines. If someone illegally crosses over, I will know immediately," the Ancient One said.
There wasn't any particularly good solution to this, so they could only strengthen their surveillance and then...
"...And then I'll handle it personally, making suitable arrangements,"
Jack shrugged, once again experiencing the feeling of being a workaholic. He hadn't expected that even after crossing over, he couldn't escape the fate of his previous life.
"If there's any trouble, just call my name directly, and I'll be aware of it,"
Jack said, looking at the Ancient One.
"Next, I need to visit the world of mutants and see if there are any problems there."
The Ancient One nodded and gestured for him to go.
Jack raised his hand and made a swipe in front of him.
A transparent portal to the multiverse appeared, but this time, it wasn't a chaotic void inside.
It was an exact replica of the Xavier Mansion, only more deep.
???
Jack turned back to look at the Ancient One, feeling somewhat puzzled about the situation.
"The two universes are merging, and they are too close to each other, so..."
The Ancient One explained, and Jack slapped his forehead before understanding.
In simple terms, the two universes were getting closer, and their time synchronization made it much easier for him to travel back and forth.
That was good news.
