Shadows of the Future

S.H.I.E.L.D. Digs Deeper
Nick Fury leaned back in his chair, staring at the large monitor in front of him. The footage from the Stark Industries reactor incident played on repeat: Tony Stark's chaotic battle against Obadiah Stane's Iron Monger, the immense energy output from the reactor, and the brief, shadowy figure who had interfered, seemingly absorbing the reactor's power. Fury tapped his fingers against the table, his one good eye narrowing.
"Still no leads on the identity of this individual?" he asked Maria Hill, who stood next to him.
Hill shook her head. "No trace whatsoever. Whoever it was, they've covered their tracks well. The energy signature they emitted matches the reactor's output, but once they left the scene, it vanished entirely."
"Any leads in the investigation regarding the planet"
"No sir. All images taken by the satellites come back blurry. The planet seems to be blocking all surveillance. Whats shocking though is how the planet blends in without interfering with the balance of the solar system.
Fury sighed. "And Stark?"
"He's been running his own investigation," Hill replied. "But even he's come up empty. Whoever this person is, they're not just technologically advanced—they're careful."
Fury rubbed his temples. "First a mysterious planet shows up near Earth, and now this... Keep digging. Whoever they are, I want them found."

Jack's Daily Life
Life at Midtown High was surprisingly peaceful for Jack, at least on the surface. The morning bell rang as Jack walked into the school building, his black backpack slung over one shoulder. He exchanged nods with a few classmates before heading to his first class.
As usual, Gwen Stacy was already at her desk, her blonde hair tied back in a loose ponytail. She smiled as Jack approached.
"Morning, Jack," she greeted.
"Morning," he replied, sliding into the seat beside her. "Ready for another thrilling day of academic excellence?"
She laughed softly. "If by 'thrilling' you mean trying not to fall asleep during Mr. Warren's lecture, then absolutely."
The two shared a chuckle, and the day proceeded as usual. Between classes, Jack often found himself chatting with Gwen. Their conversations ranged from casual banter to discussions about their shared interests in science and technology.
At lunch, Gwen nudged Jack with her elbow. "Don't forget about our biology project. We're supposed to work on it at my place after school."
Jack nodded. "Don't worry, I remember. Just try not to embarrass me in front of your parents."
She rolled her eyes, though a faint blush crept onto her cheeks. "You're impossible."

After School: Gwen's House
Gwen's house was a quaint, two-story suburban home with a cozy atmosphere. Jack parked his Audi R8 in the driveway, earning a curious look from Gwen's father, Captain Stacy, who stood on the porch.
"Nice car," Captain Stacy commented as Jack stepped out.
"Thanks," Jack replied with a polite nod. "I like to keep things simple."
Inside, Jack and Gwen set up at the dining table with their biology materials. Jack couldn't help but notice the subtle glances Gwen shot his way whenever she thought he wasn't looking. Despite his usual calm demeanor, her attention made him smirk inwardly.
"Focus," Gwen said, catching his amused expression. "We have a project to finish."
Jack raised his hands in mock surrender. "Alright, alright. Let's get to work."

Meanwhile: S.H.I.E.L.D. Observes
As Jack's school life unfolded, S.H.I.E.L.D. continued to monitor Earth's escalating chaos. Reports of mutants, enhanced individuals, and technological breakthroughs were becoming more frequent. And now, there was another anomaly: reports of a giant lizard terrorizing New York City.
"This just keeps getting better," Fury muttered as he reviewed the footage of Dr. Curt Connors, now transformed into the monstrous Dr. Lizard.

The Fight with Dr. Lizard
Night had fallen, and the streets of New York City were alive with the sounds of chaos. Dr. Lizard rampaged through the city, his massive frame tearing through vehicles and sending civilians running for cover. Spider-Man—still new to his role as a hero—was doing his best to contain the situation.
Peter Parker swung from building to building, his webbing sticking to walls and lampposts as he dodged Dr. Lizard's powerful strikes. "Why is it always giant monsters?" Peter quipped, firing a web at the creature's face to momentarily blind it.
"Stay still, Parker!" Dr. Lizard growled, swiping at Spider-Man with his massive claws.
From a nearby rooftop, Jack watched the scene unfold, dressed in his sleek new suit. The armor was a hybrid of Deadshot's precision, Slade Wilson's intimidation, and Kryptonian efficiency. The black hood and mask obscured his features, adding to his enigmatic presence.
"This is getting messy," Jack muttered. "Time to step in."
He leapt from the rooftop with incredible speed, landing directly between Spider-Man and Dr. Lizard. The impact of his landing cracked the pavement, and both combatants paused to look at the newcomer.
"Who the heck are you?" Peter asked, hanging upside down from a web.
"Just a concerned citizen," Jack replied, his voice distorted by the mask. "Why don't you take five, Spidey? I'll handle this."
Before Peter could protest, Dr. Lizard lunged at Jack with a deafening roar. Jack sidestepped the attack with ease, his movements precise and fluid. He countered with a devastating punch to the creature's midsection, sending it flying into a nearby building.
"You've got a serious shedding problem," Jack quipped, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
Dr. Lizard recovered quickly, charging at Jack with renewed fury. The two clashed in a flurry of blows, each strike sending shockwaves through the surrounding area. Jack's enhanced strength and speed gave him the upper hand, but Dr. Lizard's raw power and ferocity made him a formidable opponent.
The fight escalated as Jack used his suit's built-in weaponry to fire energy blasts at Dr. Lizard, forcing the creature to retreat momentarily. Spider-Man watched from a safe distance, thoroughly impressed.
"Okay, that guy's definitely not a normal 'concerned citizen,'" Peter muttered to himself.
As the battle reached its climax, Jack decided to end it once and for all. Using a combination of his Kryptonian strength and precise combat techniques, he delivered a bone-crushing blow to Dr. Lizard's jaw, followed by an energy blast that sent the creature crashing to the ground, unconscious.
Jack stood over the defeated Dr. Lizard, his chest rising and falling with controlled breaths. "And that's how you deal with pests," he said, turning to Spider-Man.
Peter swung down to the ground, still cautious. "Thanks for the assist… uh, mysterious guy. Any chance you want to stick around and explain who you are?"
Jack shook his head. "Not today, kid. But keep up the good work. You've got potential."
With that, Jack activated his suit's stealth mode, disappearing into the shadows before Spider-Man or S.H.I.E.L.D., who had been watching the entire fight, could track him.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Reacts
From their surveillance room, Fury and Hill analyzed the footage of the fight.
"Same energy signature as the Stark Industries incident," Hill reported. "It's definitely the same person."
Fury rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Whoever this guy is, he's playing a dangerous game. Keep tabs on him. And find out everything you can about this Spider-Man kid while you're at it."

Back to Normal (Almost)
The next day, Jack returned to school, blending seamlessly into his usual routine. He exchanged greetings with Gwen and navigated through classes with ease. Though his secret life was anything but ordinary, he enjoyed the moments of normalcy he shared with Gwen and his classmates.
As he walked Gwen home after school, she glanced at him curiously. "You're awfully quiet today. Everything okay?"
Jack smiled. "Just thinking about some stuff. Nothing to worry about."
Gwen nodded, but she couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Jack than he let on. Still, she decided not to press the issue, at least for now.

A New Beginning
Back at his villa, Jack reviewed the events of the past few days. Between S.H.I.E.L.D.'s growing interest in him, his encounter with Spider-Man, and his continued experiments with his reactor and divinity, the stakes were rising. But Jack was ready.
As he drew another item from his space ring—this time a nanotech blade that could adapt to his energy signature—he couldn't help but feel excited for what lay ahead. The world was changing, and Jack was determined to stay one step ahead of everyone.
"Let's see what you've got, universe," he said with a smirk. "I'm just getting started."
