Meeting shuri(chapter 59)

prevoius in chapter 58

Days passed since Oliver's return to Earth, yet his mission to obtain Wakandan vibranium remained unsuccessful. Despite spending hours searching for mercenaries or organizations that opposed Wakanda, he hadn't made any progress. The intergalactic empire that was Wakanda, backed by numerous organizations, posed a formidable challenge. While Oliver wasn't afraid to steal from them, he sought the path of least resistance.

The organizations capable of challenging Wakanda remained elusive, hiding their presence to avoid detection. Currently, Oliver sat in a restaurant, his muscular frame barely contained by a black T-shirt. His short hair swayed gently in the slow wind, and he wore glasses—the newly upgraded Scholar's Spectacles—while focusing on his laptop.

He was also wearing a stone ring on his right hand, which emitted a high purple hue, adding a mystical glimmer to his appearance. His new white shoes, with a soft blue glow, seemed to complement the ring's aura. Oliver sat at the café table, sipping on a cup of tea while engrossed in his studies. Since arriving on Earth, he had found ways to continue learning while keeping an eye on his current lead, two individuals of African descent who had just arrived and begun conversing.

Without warning, Oliver's pupils morphed into slits as his eyes turned black with red slits, a telltale sign of his supernatural senses kicking in. His gaze fixed on a certain rooftop just as the sound of a bullet pierced the air, striking the head of the waiter serving Oliver's targets. The waiter's head exploded, sending the café into a frenzy of panic.

Amidst the chaos, Oliver remained composed, his attention focused on the unfolding drama. His targets, the man and woman, swiftly exited the premises only to encounter more danger. A random car began honking before exploding, severely injuring the man. The woman, Omolola, rushed to his aid, dragging him into an alley where they were surrounded by mysterious figures.

The couple twisted the beads they wore, revealing hidden armor beneath, a futuristic white design with red lines accentuating their sleek helmets. "Good, we live to die!" yelled the pursuers, their voices muffled by the armored helmets.

"Interesting," Oliver murmured, observing with detached interest as the Wakandan couple, his targets, engaged in combat. Despite their proficiency, they were outnumbered and soon overwhelmed. The man pulled out a grenade, urging Omolola to run. "You have to tell T'Challa that they know, and I am sorry," he shouted before detonating the grenade, creating a fiery explosion that engulfed him and several enemies.

Omolola hesitated for a moment, a mix of sadness and determination in her eyes, before reluctantly leaving the scene. Oliver, the silent observer, watched it all unfold through the lens of his Sympiote suit, the option allowing him to witness without being seen.

As the dust settled and the enemies appeared unharmed, Oliver's intrigue deepened. "A double agent," he mused to himself, captivated by the unfolding events. The man and supposed enemies began conversing as if they were not foes at all. Oliver knew he had to follow them to their safe house.

After pinpointing their location, Oliver departed, his mind already plotting the next steps. He made mental notes of the place, confident that if he needed to return, he could. However, as he prepared to continue his errands, a realization struck him.

"One of them is believed to be dead, but before he died, he told the other to inform T'Challa or Black Panther that they know," Oliver contemplated aloud. The moon hung dimly in the sky, casting a mysterious glow over the quiet streets. "They'll investigate, look for signs of anyone tailing them... me," he finished his thought, scanning the empty surroundings.

Just then, a large spear came hurtling toward him with incredible speed. Without flinching, Oliver sidestepped the projectile, catching it effortlessly. The spear was made of vibranium, Wakanda's prized metal. "Ah, they act fast," he remarked with a wry smile, stowing the spear away.

The woman who had thrown the spear emerged, clad in advanced tribal attire that blended tradition with modernity. Her long, lush braided hair cascaded down her back, and her dark brown eyes bore a deep intensity as she regarded Oliver with suspicion.

"I was going to ask you a question, but you're probably not goi—"

"Go ahead," Oliver interrupted, his demeanor surprisingly relaxed. Gone was his usual expressionless facade, replaced by an easygoing, warm smile that seemed to disarm even the fierce warrior standing before him.

"Oh, well, this makes my job a lot easier. I just need you to answer a couple of questions for me," Shuri said with a hint of relief as she leaned in to whisper to her AI assistant, "Scan his face and give me every piece of information available." Her request was swiftly met with a flood of data from the world's CCTV cameras and other surveillance systems. Initially, Shuri's expression held a slight curiosity as she compared the current Oliver standing before her to the images displayed by her assistant. However, as the information unfolded, her expression shifted to one of guarded alertness. "Damn," she muttered under her breath, processing the revelations.

"Are you sure this evidence is true?" Shuri asked her assistant, seeking confirmation. Her assistant responded immediately, "Affirmed, Shuri. Shall I adjust the threat level for this individual known as Oliver?" While Shuri pondered, Oliver remained surprisingly patient. He observed, "Well, it looks like I've left quite a trail in the world. Oh well, it doesn't matter. This situation seems familiar—where I need a metal and end up doing a task for someone." He chuckled to himself, which caused Shuri to frown further, her expression now guarded, "what is so funny?"

"Yeah, nothing. Anyways, you said you wanted to ask me questions? Why don't we find a seat and I'll answer your questions?" Oliver suggested with a disarming smile. If someone who knew him, like Elektra, saw him smiling like that, they might think he was possessed by a different soul from another universe. Shuri, however, was deep in thought. "Given all the evidence I have on him, he is quite formidable. There's no logical reason why he would want to lure me somewhere. Monster hunters like him are usually straightforward," she reasoned internally. Unbeknownst to Shuri, Oliver did indeed have an ulterior motive. "Well, if I have to charm her to get more vibranium, then so be it. I've already used my body to get mystrium," he mused, his mind already at work on his next move
