Revolt

"That wasn't very nice," I said while sitting on the ground and massaging my legs.

Mordo went all out in the next spars and beat me black and blue. He even sneak attacked me, telling me I should be prepared for anything, bastard. At least my Physical Endurance leveled up.

However, the main reason I lost every single spar with him was that I received a negative status effect after the first one.

[Fatigued: You haven't slept for over 84 hours. All stats are reduced by 50%.]

That's about 3.5 days, which is 10x less than my Vitality stat without the bonus from Martial Arts. That was a bit disappointing, but still, being able to stay awake for 3.5 days is pretty good. I will just need to focus on my Vitality a lot more in the future.

"Hmm? I think those were some good spars. You are improving alarmingly fast. I don't think I will be the youngest Master of The Mystical Arts for long."

Mordo was sitting next to me, with his clothes badly burned. He thought that binding me with his weapon and a spell called the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak will stop me from using my spells.

Jokes on him, I spewed fire in his face, and if he wasn't protected by the dimensional energy coursing through him, he would've been considerably injured from my attack.

After Pyrokinesis passed 50, I was able to create my fire from any part of my body. Mordo learned that the hard way. If only he had hair, it would've been much better.

"I will be going now. I need to rest my head, and my bed is calling for me." I stood up and created a portal to home.

"You do that. We will see each other tomorrow night."

There's about a 10-hour difference between New York and Kamar-Taj. Usually, when I got there, it was already dusk. However, the Sorcerers staying at Kamar-Taj had unusual sleeping habits. Some of them were awake during the night, others were awake during the day, and the Ancient One always seemed to be awake.

The morning the next day, I had a pop up telling me that my Fatigue has been cured from sleeping in a bed. I did my usual routine and prepared food for grandma before I created an empty ID with time dilation.

I didn't go straight to Kamar-Taj because I wanted to get some practice with my new skills and check out the time dilation.

I started off with Illusion Magic and made an illusion of myself. It was... disappointing. The illusion was hazy and see-through and didn't even look like me. I'm a lot more handsome than that!

[Lying has increased to 21.]

...

Anyway, I played around with it, testing out what I can actually do with Illusion Magic. The skill quickly leveled up, thanks to my new title and two OP skills.

I created a dog and made it run around. I really love dogs and always wanted to own one, but I never asked for one. Dogs were so much better than cats, and everyone knows cats are devils that want to take over the world.

I just wished I was able to actually pet the illusion, and then I got an idea.

When it reached 10, the illusion of myself started looking like me. I made it walk around and try to do basic activities. However, as it was only an illusion, it wasn't able to interact with objects.

The skill did state that at higher levels, the illusions will be more life-like, and chances are, I will be able to make physical illusions, but I wanted to do it now.

So, I got to work. First, I created an energy construct with Eldritch Magic that was in my shape. I prefer creating constructs in the shapes of weapons or simple things like barriers and walls since they are easier to control.

Creating an energy construct that looks like a human is a lot harder because each body part had to be a separate construct if I wanted it to act like a human. That wasn't much of a problem for me since I can create over 37 at this point.

I then carefully layered the illusion over the energy construct, and voila, I had a copy of myself that can act in my stead. As long as the illusion didn't need to talk.

[Through a specific action, the skill, Mana Clone, has been created.]

[Mana Clone(Active) Lvl. 1/100: Through the usage of Mana, the user can create a replica of himself. The clone will last only for half an hour and will disappear if it's one more than 1 km away from the user. The memories of the clone will be transferred to the user upon dissolving. User can currently create only a single replica. The clone will have 10% of the user's capabilities. A permanent 10% MP cost for creating a clone until it disappears.]

Oh, my god! This is amazing! Thank you, Gamer! But... what is this about 1km? We are in America, and we use Miles! Speak to me in American!

Anyway, this ability was incredible. I no longer needed to bother reading, and I can just make my clone do it for me. If I raise it enough, I can probably even sent one to school instead of me.

I used my new ability, and 10% of my MP got reduced without any sign of regenerating. A perfect replica of myself appeared in front of me, and we stared at each other for a moment before I dumped a pile of books in front of him.

"To work, slave!" I commanded, pointing at the books.

The response from my clone was a Spinning Mana Bullet to my head.

"What the heck?!?"

"Call me a slave again, and I will tear all the books apart!" MY clone threatened me!

I scoffed, and with a mental command, made the clone disappear. Who did he think he was, threatening me. Hmpf.

The same thing happened with the next few. I felt defeated, and I had to play nice.

I made another clone and pointed at the books. "Please read them."

He nodded and got to work. Stupid clones and their basic rights, making me ask them nicely. I'm their creator! They should do whatever I want them to do!

After the fiasco with the clones, I began playing with Telekinesis. I used it on me and picked myself up in the air. I lasted no more than a minute before my MP ran dry.

Damn, this was one costly ability. It did, however, level up, and the MP cost decreased just a bit. Still, it wasn't enough for me to fly around like I wanted to. It will take some time, but I will get there.

I pulled the sword I had received as a drop and practiced Telekinesis on it. It was somewhat similar to how I controlled my energy constructs, so I was making good progress there.

I was having fun when half an hour passed, and my clone disappeared. Lo and behold, everything he read was transferred to me. Ah, the life of a broken character.

I figured that's enough for now and created a portal to Kamar-Taj.

The scene that greeted me was that of Mordo and the Ancient One drinking some tea.

"Good to see you, William." Mordo nodded at me.

"Come, sit with us," The Ancient One said.

This was odd and weird. I felt like a kid that was called to the principal's office.

"Do you need anything from me?" I asked as I sat down. There was a cup of tea already there for me, and I picked it up.

"Yes, we do," The Ancient One calmly said while Mordo looked a bit uncomfortable.

"What is it?" I urged her to continue.

"A village in China, Guizhou, was recently attacked and taken over by bandits. I would like you and Mordo to deal with the situation before it gets out of hand." The Ancient One explained.

Mordo said nothing and patiently waited, so I spoke up.

"Why? Isn't that something the Chinese government is supposed to handle? Aren't Sorcerers supposed to deal with Dimensional threats and whatnot?"

"The Chinese government will try and fail to handle it in a day's time," she started. "And you are correct, we protect the Earth from Dimensional, but also Magical threats."

"So, the bandits know Magic?" If they did, then they weren't simple bandits.

"No," The Ancient One shook her head. "But they've found a powerful magical artifact that can cause massive destruction in the wrong hands."

"How powerful are we talking about? And do they know how to use it?" I asked, already thinking about how I can get my hands on it.

"Very powerful," The Ancient One confirmed. "But, they do not know how to harness its full potential. However, it's not the only magical item in their hands. They have a total of five of them."

*Ding*

[A Quest has been created.]

[Save Guizhou: A bandit group has taken over the village of Guizhou, and they have armed themselves with magical items. Save the people and defeat the bandits.]

[Reward: 75 000 XP; An Artifact-level item.]

[Failure: The destruction of Guizhou, and the death of many Chinese people.]

[Duration: 12 hours.]

My eyes lit up. I accepted the quest while standing up.

"Come on, Mordo. People are in danger, we have to save them and stop the bandits!"

Was what I said, but what I meant was, "Come on, Mordo. There are magical items and an Artifact-level one, ready for me to pick, I need them!"

The Ancient One looked at me, knowing that I must've received a Quest if I was so excited about this. She didn't question me, however.

Mordo looked at the Ancient One and asked. "Are you sure about this?"

"I have the utmost confidence that two of the best Sorcerers in Kamar-Taj will be able to handle the situation," The Ancient One said.

"Come on, Mordo. People are in danger! Will you let them suffer under the tyranny of the bandits? Do you not want to help them?"

Come on, Mordo. Magical items are waiting for me, and you are wasting my time! If I knew the exact location of Guizhou, I would've created a portal already.

"William is correct," The Ancient One agreed with me. "The more time you waste, the more likely it is for innocent people to lose their lives."

Mordo let out a sigh and stood up.

"When we get there, you will listen to me and follow my orders," Mordo said while creating a portal.

"I will listen to anything I deem as reasonable."

Meaning, if you tell me to give up the Artifact-level item, I will refuse vehemently. I'm a Sorcerer, but I don't have a single magical item! I plan on changing that today!

I followed after Mordo, and we appeared on top of a hill that overlooked Guizhou. The village looked peaceful, too peaceful. We did spot a few people walking around, but they didn't look like villagers as they carried crude weapons.

"We don't know what the situation is there with the villagers is, so we have to sneak in and check it out. How good are you at sneaking?" Mordo asked me.

I just stared at him. There was no way he was serious, right? Right?

"If you are not good at sneaking, I will go on my own and return here when I know what's happening, so we can formulate a plan."

Mordo was serious! Wow. Just as he started moving towards the village, I stopped him.

"Mordo, why do we have to physically sneak in?"

"Because if we get spotted, the bandits might use the villagers as hostages," Mordo said as if it wasn't obvious.

"Mordo... why don't we, I don't know, use the Mirror Dimension and scout the situation without the bandits ever finding out we are there?"

...

"We are not talking about this ever, okay?" Mordo said as we both entered the Mirror Dimension.
