Sefi opened her eyes wide in amazement, wondering if the chair had electricity going through it since as she'd gotten up so quickly.
Nathan's tall figure appeared in front of them.
What did he want this time? Sefi thought with annoyance. Couldn't he see that she was busy eating? Her eyes followed Tracy as she darted towards the exit. Sefi was willing her to come back but Tracy looked like she couldn't wait to get out fast enough.
He had been observing them from outside for a while, thinking she was about to finish eating, therefore came in. The girl's pale and slender wrists were covered with bruises, which looked a little frightening. One could only imagine how much force he used at the time to subdue her.
It was not the way to treat a girl. Nathan felt a deep sense of regret. Even though the girl didn't hold back when she was attacking him. His arms and torso were now covered with scratches thanks to her, but he decided not to be petty and get into an argument over it.
"I brought you some medicine." He put the medicine bottle on the table, and then sat down.
Sefi turned her head away and continued to chew the food in her mouth, turning a deaf ear to him.
He looked at her in silence for a few seconds, then he reached out for the porridge bowl.
From the corner of her eye, Sefi saw him picking up the bowl then holding it in one hand, he stirred at it with the small spoon in the other. He gracefully scooped up a spoonful.
Whilst she debated in her mind whether or not to open her mouth to accept the food. After all, one side was delicious food, and the other side was her pride, neither of which was indispensable.
She saw him open his mouth slowly as if in slow motion, and then began to put the spoon into his mouth!
"Ahhhh!" She screamed before the spoon touched his lips and at the same time, she dived forward, slamming into him with her upper body, knocking the bowl out of his hand.
"Sefi!" He pushed her away angrily and saw that his expensive white shirt was instantly soaked with sticky porridge.
She glared at him viciously. And he stared back at her equally as angry. His lips just inches away from hers. She could feel his hot breath on her face, however, she didn't back down. She may not be able to speak at the moment but if looks could kill, then he would have died a thousand times already.
"What are you two doing?!" A female voice sounded alarmed.
They simultaneously looked towards the doorway and standing there was a pretty girl wearing a long pink ball gown style dress. She had a full face of make-up on and the amount of highlighter she wore was making her look like a shiny disco ball.
"Eve," Nathan was slightly caught off guard.
"Stay away from my brother, you little tramp!" The girl pointed at Sefi and started shouting. "Don't think for one second that I'll let you step a foot into this household."
What was she even talking about? Sefi thought. Wasn't she already living under their household?
"You'll have to go through me!" Eve was still screaming off the top of her head. Then she pulled Nathan behind her, protecting him like a mother hen, although her slender frame barely covered half of his body.
"Eve, " Nathan began, feeling a headache coming on. What the hell was wrong with girls these days, they seemed to be jumping down people's throats over the littlest things. He tried to pull her away.
Eve turned to stare at him angrily, "Let go, don't you dare pull my arm! If you ruin my dress I swear I'll make you pay!" She warned.
He held up his hand in surrender, "I will definitely not touch your dress."
Then, as if to prove his sincerity, he took a few steps back quickly.
Eve grinned triumphantly like a Cheshire cat, then she turned to Sefi and continued with her attack, "Don't think that just because you're living in this house it means you'll marry into our family. No chance! You're just a blood-sucking parasite. We don't want you here. You're not welcome. Understand?!"
Sefi was confused. She was a what?! Parasite?
"Eve, that's enough." Nathan frowned. Even if Eve was spoiled rotten, he didn't approve of her being a bully.
"Don't Eve me, I haven't finished yet. Let me tell you Sefi, Jin won't ever fancy a hillbilly like you, so don't bother thinking just because he skated with you that one time, he'll end up falling for you. Do you know who his grandfather is?" She scolded Sefi with her hand on her hips.
"Stop it! Eve!" Nathan bellowed.
"Whose side are you on anyway?" Eve retorted. "I thought you didn't want to marry that little tramp. So why are you standing up for her?!"
Nathan sighed helplessly. It was true, he didn't want to marry Sefi. It was an arranged marriage, something he deemed old fashioned and despicable.
"Nathan, you and I are no longer good friends!" She stared at him and made a gesture of separating her two clasped hands.
Nathan's face was a little bit dumbfounded. Since when did he and Eve become good friend?
"Also, you are no longer welcome to my birthday party in two days time, consider yourself uninvited!"
"We were born on the same day." Nathan raised his eyebrows, feeling a little exasperated.
"I know, but this year we will go our separate ways." After speaking, she lifted the corner of her skirt and walked out of the room without looking back. Before leaving, she gave Sefi a final stern look as if warning her to stay away.
The large room was quiet and silent, and even the sound of the two of them breathing could be heard. The air was filled with gunpowder and smoke, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife.
