Chapter 74 Engagement Party 3

  Alex really did know how to taunt me with his words but tonight, I really wanted to ignore him. He had a point though, I was really tired of this kind of life, but I can't just walk out of the blue to change a tradition I believed has been in this family for a really long time.

He held my wrist tenderly and took me before the large floor to ceiling mirror, as he  stood behind me. Alex was really bigger and taller than I am, he had this natural intimidating face that made most people sacred to speak to him. I was scared when I saw him for the first time but then I just wasn't scared anymore.

He took me to sit on my dressing table, I swear I might get dizzy from all this work. He held my hair and tied it into a loosed bun, folding my really long hair multiple times to his taste. I let him have his way cause I really was not ready to fight with him tonight. 

We finally got out of the room with me looking like a servant in a really expensive dress, this man just didn't know how to dress a lady. I walked down the grand stairs with Alex behind me, we got to the dinning room. We were late cause everyone was already at the table including Father. They were all dressed like royalties even at this time of the night.

Alex and I both sat down quietly. There were varieties of dishes on the table, and they all looked appetizing. "I heard you both went on a vacation Alex, don't get carried away by cheap beauty my son!" Grandma said. I almost forgot, she was here when we arrived. "Can you let us eat in peace tonight mother!" Father said this time.

I really didn't know why this woman hates me so much. "I'm not stopping you from eating I'm I? And why should I listen to you, when you didn't listen to me when I told you not to get a wife for my grandson!" She said sternly. "Hazel's still my wife no matter how much you argue and fight about it isn't she?" Said Alex with a smile.

"No son, don't accept such abomination. You deserve better than this slot, I'm so sorry for you parents ignorance!" She said to him. I lost my appetite finally, I'm sure that's what she wanted. "Stop it!" He said. "You talk like she's not here, she's right before you. I'm sure I've made myself very clear about this, I don't like it when other people messes with what's mine. You can't reduce and disrespect my wife before me!" Alex added sternly, held my wrist and took me away. I saw a little of the astonished look on grandma's face. I bet she never saw this coming.

I noticed the way he talked to them which was totally different from how he talks to me. He took me out of the mansion, the chauffeur rushed towards us and handed over his keys to him. "Get into the car!" Was the only thing he said. I didn't argue with him not when I saw what he did in there.

I got into the car without a word and he drove out of the mansion in maximum speed. I clutched onto the sit of the car holding my breath cause of how fast we went. I as astonished by his attitude back at the mansion, this is not the first time he had defended me before his family.

The last time he did this was to my step mum and sisters. But today he did it to Grandma, he stood up to her. Not that I liked the way he disrespected her ,but her attitude towards me was becoming so alarming. She wouldn't let me breath freely without glaring at me. I was fed up with her corky attitude. I don't mind if she hates me more after this.

Alex's action made my heart flutter. We arrived in front of a fancy restaurant, Alex gaze fell on me. He said nothing as he loosened the bun from my hair letting my hair down. "We'll have dinner here, come on let's go!" He said calmly. I got out of the car and we both got in.

I really couldn't tell why Alex has been really nice to me ever since my attempt to kill myself. And he also stole kisses when I least expected. "Welcome to 'Carmine's', do you have a reservation please?" A waiter welcomed us in. From his accent, I could tell this was an Italian restaurant. "Hold on I'll be back!" Alex said as he walked to the counter.

Other days he'd let one his assistant do this for him but tonight he had to make the reservation. It seems he took few more seconds than expected, I darted my gaze around and was astonished to see who was sitting there. "Does she have to be everywhere?" I murmured under my breath as I turned my face quickly backing her. Hoping she wouldn't see me.
