Chapter 245 Welcome party

Grandma said she wanted a welcome party, and I thought it was a normal party with friends and families, until I saw this before me. I should have known or be used to dealing with wealthy people by now, little things to them are like big things to normal people.  The hall was filled with lots of guest, friends and families I was yet to meet. I stepped further into the hall and went ahead to meet mum.

She's the only person I could talk to right now since Dad was with few people. "Hazel my love come, come let me make some quick introduction", I and grandma stood before two women, one looking younger than the next that looks just like Genevieve.

"This is my granddaughter Hazel, David's child daughter, Hazel meet your aunties, Grace, Genevieve's mum and Lucy". "Hello aunties." I mustard a sweet smile, at least I know how to do that alot. Aunt Lucy returned the smile but aunty Grace didn't, rather sizing me with her eyes before meeting Grandma's gaze.

Her shoulder was raised high as she parted her lips to speak. It was so obvious she looked down on me, which I wondered why. We were family right, and that means I had same right as she does in this family.

"This is David's child? Is she meant to be pregnant?" Grace asked "Yes that is true, you're not married are you honey?" Lucy added. I parted my lips to speak but before I could..... "Does it matter, isn't this a double blessing to us, I have a granddaughter who's also going to bring my great-grandchildren."

"Yes, those words should give you little hope to this shame. It's a good thing only family members were invited to this event else another disgrace would be laced on our family's name." "For what reason? Cause David choosed to get involved with a whore, of all the reputable women in this country!" Grace stated.

"Aunty Grace, I would very much appreciate it if don't insult my mother." "Come on stop it Grace, Hazel's a married woman, she's the wife of Alexander Wilson."

"Oh great the Wilson's, that marraige that didn't last for a year and she got divorced. I thought it was a contract marriage cause you wanted money from them? You're a disgrace to these family." We glared at each other, it was obvious this witch was looking for a fight, just something she could hold on to. But I wasn't going to give it to her, not tonight not ever.

"I didn't get married to the Wilson's for money Aunt." I smiled. "The man I thought was my father sold me off to them, but I'm out now to my real family who loves me." I sighed.

"I understand your concern, but the families reputation cannot be more important than my life? A child who goes astray is always forgiven right? You can't tell me Genevieve has kept her chastity for her husband to be?

"What did you mean Hazel?" Grandma and the rest stared at me, and I smiled. "Come on, she's as much as a whore as I am, the only difference is I'm married and she's not. And I'm not divorced yet so....., I took a sip of the drink in my hands before handing over to the waiter.

She's so lucky I wasn't in the mood to argue or insult anyone tonight, else this peaceful gathering would have been a disaster. "Grandma I need to be with mum, it was nice meeting you Aunties." I walked away and headed to mum's direction when something out of the ordinary caught my eyes.

The Dior's arrived at the party with Falcon who walked up to me ignoring the people who approached them. "I didn't know you'd be coming here tonight." "Though the invitation came out late, I'm here now." He smiled invitingly and I nodded to his words.

"You look so beautiful tonight." "Thank you." We both got lost in our talks until....., "Oh mother, this is Mr Dior our inlaw to be." Dad's word attracted my attention suddenly spoiling my mood. And I can see the slight frown on mother and grandma faces. How I'm I supposed to counter his words to not only grandma but the people around?

"Wow you must be Falcon Dior." We both turned around and I frowned at who I saw asked, "Yes I am." "Wow sister Hazel, he's totally the best man for you. He's so handsome, I would advice you two to get married as soon as possible. You there can be distractions in this city, especially your ex Mr Wilson." She smiled and walked away.

It's a good Falcon's here, we need to talk about this. We were grown as people and I'm sure if we both disagree on this marraige stuff, then it'll be gone for good. "I need to talk to you privately Falcon." "Right now?"

"Yes." Just as we were about to step out of the mansion......

It was unusual for these mansion to have many bodyguards who look like trained assassin's and killers. And just as I thought, my worst nightmare came through......

The Wilson's were invited to the Huxley's party, something that has never happened before. I could see all of them step in, great grandma, grandma, mother, father, Avery and Carie. But not Alex, he wasn't here. I forgot he doesn't like parties and small gatherings, even if it meant we were going to see each other again.

The previous incident still hunts me, but I just couldn't ask Carie how he's doing, if he was better now or still sick. Or did Lukas say that so I wouldn't feel bad about his actions.

Grandma went out to hug and welcome them surprising everyone, that includes Mum too. What have these troublesome women done? I could feel the tension between both families, and the Wilson's didn't feel intimidated by the gazes on them. Their shoulders were raised high too, even more than my family members.

I didn't have issues with them or their family just Alex. Just him alone. "Hazel my Love." I guess mother couldn't contain her joy and I didn't hesitate to hug her. I've missed her too, she was more than a mother to me, she loved and even stood by me when grandma rejected me. I'm sure she also made grandma love me too.

"Hazel." "I kissed her palm and hugged her too, it's the first time since I met her that she let this happen. "Grandma." I went ahead to father and Avery and then Carie. My pal. And lastly great grandma.

"This is our family gathering, what are the Wilson's doing here? If you had issues with inviting the guest, you should have let someone else do it." Dad spoke calmly. It was evident he was trying to contain the rage burning in him, I guess he wasn't having it. "It's Hazel's party David, and these people are family to her so why not invite them?" Grandma said calmly like someone who forgot both families had issues.

"Dinner's served." The butler announced and Grandma clapped. "That's great, please everyone, ignore the little drama and let's head over to the table."

"You all might be wondering why we're all gathered here, even if most of us know about it already?" Grandma started while everyone held their glass of champagne ready to toast. "We are all gathered here tonight for the formal introduction of my granddaughter, Hazel Huxley. The one and only heiress to the Huxley's empire." Everyone cheered.
