Chapter 12 : Gala 3
I walked through a hallways admiring the paintings on the wall "There you are, I've been searching everywhere for you"! A voice spoke from behind and when I turned around it was Dad. I frowned, he was the last person I wanted to see now. But what can I do? I came here to work anyway.
"Come with me I need to make some introductions" He said indifferently, and I followed him without a word. We moved back to the dinner room, and walked towards a couple. They looked so familiar, and the closer we got to them, the more I realized they were the Wilson's. They were the exact same people I saw on my phone. My eyes widened in realization, I was speechless. "Oliver!" Dad greeted the man "Xavier!" He called dad's name excitedly as they shook hands.
"This is my last daughter Hazel Gale the one we talked about!". He said placing his hands on my shoulder "Good evening sir and ma!" I smiled sweetly "No no you should normalize calling me mum from today. come here!" She gestured her hands for a hug as a warm and welcoming smile graced her lips, and i hugged her. I was confused by her reaction, but I tried not to over think anything.
"She's looks just like her mum!" Mr Oliver said "It's just like nessa recreated herself again, hahaha!" Mrs Wilson laughed, dad couldn't say anything all he had to do was knod in agreement. "Well Hazel meet Mr and Mrs Oliver Willow your new mother and father in-law!" He said with a smile.
It took two seconds for his words to sink into my brain "What?" I asked. Dad sighed and we excused ourselves to a more quieted place "I hope what just happened out there was a joke father!". I asked irritated "Hazel think of what this marriage would do for us" he said "What?, Us?, You have enough money Mr" I was getting really angry now.
"Besides when was the last time you thought about us?" I bit my lips hard pushing back the tears that threatened to fall from my eyes. I just could not believe what was happening.
Dad sighed before speaking "Mr Oliver asked for this favour, he needed to prove to his shareholders that his son was more than capable of handling his company, and he thinks marriage is the only solution, and an investment is ours. Don't worry he's already working on convincing Alex!" He said
"Alex has been handling the company for years now, everybody knows he's more than capable, so what other impression does he have to make? You're just saying these to make me see reasons in your unreasonable points". I said
"Hazel you know these Union is more beneficial to you and your mum, marrying into money is every girl's dream ". He said "Have you lost your freaking mind Dad, those can be other girls dream but not mine". I said sternly "Don't make these harder than it already is Hazel, someone like you can't even find love from a natural course, you should be grateful I decided to help you out. Besides Oliver has been a good and helping friend to me, they're good people!" He said stoically.
