Alchemy and the Dark Arts

"So you really read, well rather memorized every book in my Library." Said Nicholas Flamel as he entered his Library.

"Hehehe, yes I did it. Take that for trying to trick me." Laughed Matthew as he finally took a breath and was able to relax.

"Tch brat. Use the knowledge you gained wisely, you gave me the impression you are wise enough for it. Some of It is dangerous and if you misuse it, I promise you I will come after you!" threatened the Alchemist with a serious look on his face.

"I promise I won't become a dark lord or anything, I just love knowledge and want to master magic to its peak." Explained Matthew.

"The Peak? Huh. You still have a long road ahead of you for that. You only entered the advanced parts of what Wizard Magic can do, and branched slightly into other aspects of magic. There are things out there far beyond your current imagination." Replied the old man while reminiscing about the things he saw during his long life, "Even I didn't reach the peak of Alchemy in the over 600 years of my life, and you want to reach it in Magic overall."

"I feel that I am on a good path, and I already witnessed some of the things you were speaking of." Said Matthew as he thought of Nightmare and the Scrolls, 'Also I have an advantage no Wizard had before me. The AI Chip is the ultimate learning tool. Only Rowena Ravenclaw created something comparable but inferior since she was limited by her time.' Added Matthew mentally.

"Since you are done, you should leave now, boy. And don't bother me unless necessary. But only if you get into trouble beyond the level of some dark lord like the Riddle idiot." Said the Alchemist as he ushered Matthew out of the Library.

Matthew finished his Business with the Flamels and left this time through the front door, he put the fruit cake Perenelle baked for him into his trunk. Now he began to walk in direction of the City. Since it was still bright he had some time, he could head home now but why not take a nice break and explore Paris a bit.

At the same time, he began looking for a nice hidden spot in the city where he could arrive with a Portkey in the Future if the need ever arise. Having more escape locations was always a nice thing. He spent the day exploring the non-magical side of the City, enjoyed some nice sweets, visited the Eiffel tower, and so on. The magical side he would safe for later when he had more time, although he spotted the entrance to the Place Cachée, the magical district in Paris. It was a large bronze statue depicting a woman sitting on a pedestal in the Montmartre district.

Once it began to darken outside he used the Portkey that only works until today and traveled back home.

"Welcome back. And how was the Internship?" greeted his Mother as he arrived for dinner downstairs.

"It was cool. I was able to learn the basics of Alchemy. This is a subject that is rarely taught in Hogwarts. It is only available if there are enough Students with enough OWL Qualifications and interest, I think the last time was over 2 decades ago." Explained Matthew, "So basically I learned and gained a lot there."

~ Scene Break ~

"I learned a lot!" thought Matthew as he reviewed all the new knowledge he gained over the last week. He currently was inside the Laboratory of his Trunk and analyzed all the new information.

First of all, he gained a Systematic approach to the whole subject of Alchemy, something that he didn't find before since it was rarely taught and not many books were available. Alchemy was basically a mixture of magic and science, which allowed the practitioner to unleash very powerful forces and accomplish many things, amongst them things like Immortality. It mainly uses chemistry but also a bit of physics and biology depending on the branch of Alchemy.

Overall Alchemy can be split into three major branches they are Transmutation, Property Manipulation, and Alchemical Material Manipulation. Transmutation is the most obvious and most widespread School of Alchemy, in general, it's the alteration of the form or structure of matter or energy. It is closely related to Transfiguration but allows the permanent transformation of different kinds of materials, not only into the same chemical structure but also into different ones, like the famous legend of turning common metal into gold.

But that is not all there is to transmutation, although he only found some basic experimentation and Records inside the Library of Nicolas Flamel, biological transmutation was also a branch of transmutation. For example, a past dark lord who was very accomplished in Necromancy and Alchemy created an abomination called Flesh Golem. An Undead being created of multiple corpses animated like inferni. Good that Voldemort is so arrogant and short-sighted or Magical Britain would have long fallen.

Property Manipulation is the power to change the physical and chemical property of matter it encompasses melting, gasification, disintegration, fusionism, freezing, refining, reduction, and restoration. It also affects the supernatural side of Properties and was most likely the branch of magic that allows the Goblins to create something like Goblin Silver.

Last but not least there was Alchemic Material Manipulation that as its name says was responsible for the manipulation of alchemic materials and allowed to create things like the Philosopher Stone, the elixir of life and if something like it exists even the Prima Materia the legendary material the Universe itself originates from.

These three basic branches of Alchemy and their combination enabled an alchemist to accomplish many things including Soul and Lifeforce Manipulation, Artifact creation and other craftsmanship, Potion creation, and a lot more. It was a very complex branch of magic into that Matthew now gained a wide understanding, including even the basics of the more exotic branches of it.

But that was not all Matthew gained in the Flamels Library, he deepened his understanding of all Branches of Wizarding magic and gained some rather exotic spells and Rituals including the Horcrux Ritual, fire-based Illusion magic, the method to create the golem of Prague, and more. Overall it even raised his understanding of the elemental laws by 1 to 2 percent.

"With that, I am almost set for my next Project. But first of all. Sarah how far along are you with the Memories of Voldemort's Soul?" he asked his AI Chip.

[Beep! All emotional and corrupting aspects were removed from the memories. Only the Informations remain. Should I begin the Integration into the Database?]

"Yes proceed." Once Matthew gave his confirmation a new string of information appeared in his mind. It not only added and broadened his understanding of the Hogwarts Subjects but also gave him a deeper understanding of the Dark Arts and its Rituals. If Nicholas Flamel was a master and most acknowledged expert of Alchemy then Voldemort was that for the Dark Arts.

He learned of many Spells and Rituals, many of them were disgusting or had a terrible price to pay. Amongst them were Human Transfiguration, Necromancy, Blood Magic and more. One of the cool things he just learned was how to fly without a broom, although he would still need to practice a bit. He didn't integrate the experience and muscle memories of Voldemort since it would be a crutch to him, even could be harmful. After all his body was completely different from Voldemort, not only in stature but also through the Rituals.

Another useful piece of information he learned was the exact protections on the Ring hidden in the old Gaunt Cottage and how to bypass them. He didn't learn of the Amulet since Voldemort didn't hide it yet when he made the Diadem his Horcrux, although he now knows for sure that the other two Horcruxes are in possession of Bellatrix and Malfoy. That just confirmed that his Canon Information was accurate.
