Chapter 10

By the time Anastasia arrived at the palace it was late. Anastasia decided to explain some of the things to the young girl unless she wanted to be fired. She was not ready to be fired as this was one of the best way to earn money. Working at the palace for the royal family was not easy.

"I will be calling you Sophia from today onwards and you will be my niece." She stopped to see if the little girl was getting her point. " Stick to me and don't go wandering around."

Victoria who had gained a new name thought that it was good if she remained mute to avoid any unwanted attention from the people. She was going to be obedient until the day she gets to meet her parents and Frank her elder brother.

Walking to the servant's quarter,,Ana met Rasmus the butler

" Good evening Ana I thought you won't be coming back today but I was...." He trailed off looking at the young girl hiding behind Ana

" I didn't know that you had a beautiful girl since when did you become a mother?" This had Ana roll her eyes

" This is Sophia my niece she will be staying with me to help me before I return her to my brother." Ana made a quick lie which the buttler did not buy. Not wanting to poke his nose on things that didn't concern his life he nodded his head.

" I hope she does not cause any problems " saying this he left.

Taking in a deep breath Ana went to the room which was allotted to her and another maid.

Sophia was helped in changing the clothes which Ana bought to help with the time being. Later that night Ana brought food for the young girl who ate quickly.

Ana thought that the girl had been starved for a long time. But who was her mother?? Ana had never seen someone abandoning their own child. From the looks the girl was dressed differently which was hard to know her exact location.

What Ana did not know was that the young girl was neither mute nor from the same timeline.

The following morning as usual the servant had work to do and Ana was glad that Sophia was obedient. The little girl tried helping her like holding a small pot or even passing something. At least she was a good girl thought Ana to herself.

Sophia was a beautiful girl and Ana wished she could keep her safe and take care of her.

As days passed Sophia enjoyed her stay at the palace,, trying to help the servants. At times she would be seen at the garden with Benson the gardener.

Even though she appeared to be happy staying at the palace,, Sophia missed her family very much. She was not used to being far from her brother Frank.

Thinking about them was always enough to bring tears which she was quick to wipe.

With time she would get accustomed to the way of living this new life. All she had to do was embrace and accept what was given to her.
