The Silver Letter

May 15th, 3020. A letter arrived in a small mining town in the western part of Aglua. The letter addressed to a young Relica Singh, an orphaned girl who lost her parents in an accident. Relica lived in Ethya, a small town in between the Orugh mountain range, one of the few towns that had a high export of minerals like coal, gold, and silver. The silver envelope, decorated with golden accents was a letter from The Central Academy of Magic located in Obris, Etral.

Whispers in town spoke of the letter assuming it to be a mistake since there was no one of magical decent in Ethya. The closest magic-user was three days away in Espon.

"Did you hear? Someone received a silver letter…" a young woman whispered.

"I wonder who the lucky person is." Another woman said.

"I bet it was delivered here by mistake." An old man said.

Humming a soft tune that her mother used to sing Relica slowly made her way to her small home on the edge of Ethya. The cottage had been in her family for generations, a small vine-covered abode with several types of wildflowers and a few large trees providing shade around the front and rear of the home. From the corner of her eye, she noticed a letter sticking out of the old mailbox, a hint of silver and gold glittering in the afternoon sun.

With a soft gasp, Relica dropped her brown basket with an abundant amount of fruits, vegetables, two bags of rice and a loaf of bread. Her pale fingers gently grabbed onto the soft envelope brushing her thumb over the raised golden lettered name on the front. Pressing the envelope to her chest she quickly ran into her home, placing the letter down on the dining room table. Her fingers gripping onto the stained and weathered wood, taking in a big breath, Relica sat down running her fingers over the material hoping for it to be real.

With a big sigh, she picked the letter up again, turning it over and exposing the blue wax seal. With a quick sweep of her fingers she broke the seal, in that instance magic came overflowing out of the envelope, the letter itself coming to life, transforming itself into the headmaster. With a loud grizzly laugh, the letter spoke.

"Greeting's Ms. Singh, my name is Uras Atrix, I am the headmaster of The Central Academy of Magic. We have received a letter stating you have come of age to partake in the yearly magical exam. However, you will not be partaking in the said exam, due to having a highly sought recommendation by someone high in the magical community. The staff and I would like to welcome you to come to join us in August when the new semester begins. Please take the train from Espon to Athana and lastly to Obris. We look forward to seeing your magical abilities flourishing into the light."

With a bow, the letter transformed itself into a ticket for the Espon Transit. The date on the ticket reading July 13th, 3020. With a smile and a squeal, Relica sprung from her seat twirling around staring at the ticket. Her blue-green eyes sparkling at the thought of going to the school of her dreams.

"The Central Academy of Magic…" grinning ear to ear Relica stared at the ticket. "Wants me to study magic…"

With a happy sigh, she placed the ticket in between the pages of an old book of her mother. Two months. She had two months to pack the necessary items for her trip. Books, clothes, precious mementos. With the trip in two months, Relica began to separate what she could leave here and what she had to take.

Two months seemed to just zip on by for Relica as she awaited her departure day. She had noticed that as the date came closer for her trip the ticket became more radiant. As July 10th came around she made her final preparations, packing up a small suitcase with her most precious belongings. The school had provided a spell to shrink items students wished to bring along so they would fit in one bag. Relica packed away some of her mother's old books, the remaining photos of her childhood and her cutest dresses. After packing the last bit she smiled looking around the living room of her childhood home once more with a gleaming smile. She had left a placard note on the front door telling everyone where she had gone.

Relica wore a white sleeveless dress under a light brown vest, along with white flats for her trip. Her pinkish-red hair was tied back into a side braid adorning the left side of her face. She picked up a small backpack that had been filled with important documents and all her money and a few snacks for the road. Putting the backpack on she smiled grasping ahold the suitcase handle. With a final happy sigh, she faced her family's home.

"I will return soon… You can count on it." Relica said softly before making her way up the road and out of town.

The trip from Ethya to Espon took two and a half days. July 12th, Relica reached Espon. A large town filled with exciting sights and smells. Espon was well known for its high-quality materials such as fabrics and baked goods. Being close to the ocean Espon had become a new hot spot destination for tourists of all kinds.

"So this is Espon? It's so much more colorful then I thought it would be!" Relica smiled to herself.

Rummaging through her backpack she pulled out the book that held her ticket to Obris. Looking at the glittering ticket the station name read Rayla Transit.
