Chapter 27: Dream Weaver

Shayla

Shayla walked Amelia home to her parents and then took herself back home to her brother. She opened the front door and heard his metal music blaring from his bedroom.

She always wanted Hadley to be whoever he was, and who he was ended up being an emo teenager who wanted to dye his hair black and pierce his nose.

Shayla agreed to the hair dye but not the piercing. She said he could wait until adulthood. She hoped that would give him time to decide it wasn't a good idea.

She tossed the stack of bills on the table and walked to the fridge and pulled out a cold beer. She had taken to drinking more than before these days. She wasn't proud of it, but it helped to get her through.

She walked back over to the stack of bills and began to sort through them. There sticking out of the mess of white was a bright pink envelope with her name handwritten on the outside. There was no stamp from the post office, so Shayla assumed it had been hand-delivered.
