Chapter 72- Odin's fall

"Are you ready?" Luffy asked as he cracked his knuckles. "I have warned you, child. I will not be held accountable for what is to come," Odin spoke as he spun his spear around in his right hand before resting it across his shoulders in a seemingly relaxed pose.

A tense staredown was commencing between the two. The duo judged each other, with Odin starting to walk forward after a couple of minutes. Odin slowly sped up, from walking to jogging, to running, to sprinting. Luffy also began to walk forward, but he did not accelerate like Odin. Odin swung his spear in a circular motion, with his hand about three-quarters of the spear's length away from its head.

The spear moved at an incredible speed towards Luffy. Luffy, thinking quickly, Used Soru to flash forward, bearly dodging the spear that ruptured the earth behind him before continuing its momentum carried it ahead. Luffy made use of the opening the attack created. He jumped up to Odin's face while enlarging his arm to a massive proportion using gear three. Luffy reached Odin's face in the blink of an eye, before throwing the punch with an incredible speed despite its large size. A thunderous roar shook the arena as Luffy's giant fist clashed with the back of Odin's spear.

Odin saw Luffy's attack, and he managed to tilt his wrist in the nick of time, bringing the end of the spear in front of his face. It was a very awkward blocking position, but better than nothing. Using the fraction of a second that Luffy was held in place by their clash, Odin delivered a hook with his vacant hand, shooting Luffy into the arena wall, blowing up a cloud of dust.

Luffy flashed back towards Odin, sinking a powerful punch into his cheek. Odin, however, wasn't even taken aback as he stood firmly and stared down at Luffy. Luffy fell to the ground, and the two began to exchange blows while seemingly teleporting all across the arena. Punches and kicks flew faster than the eye could see, and the two warriors didn't shy away from taking the attacks head-on. But when either one of the two took an attack, part of the force was transferred to the branch on which the arena was stationed on. Slowly but surely, cracks formed.

Once again, Odin blew Luffy into the arena wall with a swing of his spear. The crowd cheered, yet Odin did not utter a word. The dust cloud spread apart fasted then the eye could see as the result of a powerful air shockwave. When the dust cleared, Luffy was nowhere to be seen, but Odin didn't hesitate to hold his spear above his head in a blocking motion. A black whip could be seen crashing down in a whipping motion, with something weird at its edge.

However, as the whip got closer, it got weirder and weirder. It was too thick for a whip, and at its end was a black sandal. It was not a whip, but Luffy's ax kick with his leg stretched far for kilometers on end. Luffy jumped up so high he could not even be seen, yet the kick crossed that distance in less than a second, crashing down on Odin's spear. Large and wide cracks spread all across the arena floor, and even beyond it, shaking a whole branch of Yggdrasil, a feat so frightening it can't even be described.

"Ugh!" Odin groaned from the stress. After clashing for a moment, the leg suddenly started to retreat away from him. It went back until it started to rise up. Odin spread his Observation Haki, only to locate Luffy far above him dragging his leg up as he used the momentum to spin in a somersault-like motion and bring down an ax kick with even more force. Odin needed to attack, he needed to turn the flow of battle. Odin squatted with his spear in his hand pointed up at the sky. Odin lept up hundreds of meters to meet Luffy's attack before it could fully form. "Tyr's wrath!" Odin shouted as he stabbed upwards at Luffy's Achilles tendon while concentrating all the Armament Haki he could to the edge of his spear, even canceling the Haki on his armor.

Luffy's Armament Haki was spread across a kilometer or so of his stretched-out leg, and so he couldn't stand the force from the spear. The spear quickly penetrated the skin and started to dig deep into the leg. Luffy yelled in pain and tried to quickly condense his Armament Haki on the point the spear was hitting. Unfortunately, the spear pierced halfway through his leg by the time he reacted, leaving him with an immobilizing injury. Luffy, however, saw an opportunity in his situation, and one he intended to take.

The area of the injury the spear made was covered in Haki, with the spear still in it. Luffy used that and continued the ax kick down after Odin lost most of his momentum due to gravity. The kick was so fast that even if only a fraction of a fraction of Odin's spear was in Luffy's leg, it managed to drag the spear with it as Odin couldn't free the spear in time. From there, Luffy enlarged his free leg with gear three before compressing it like a spring and shooting down so fast a sonic boom was heard.

Luffy's Haki-clad fist crashed into Odin's defenseless face, dragging the giant with him until his head crashed violently against the arena. The tree branch couldn't uphold a battle of that caliber anymore, and it buckled under the pressure. Luffy managed to fly up with his free leg and climb another branch, but Odin fell down so fast he couldn't catch himself in time. Odin prepared to catch himself. He knew his arm couldn't handle the pressure of bringing himself to a sudden halt, but he had no choice if he wished to survive. Odin reached his hand out to a near tree branch, and just as predicted, his arm ripped off from the pressure and stress.

However, Odin did stop his fall, and he quickly stuck his spear inside the tree branch to catch himself before he'd continue falling. And so, the giant king lied there, with a missing arm, contemplating the interesting situation he's in.
