Summary: It's your twenty-first birthday and you couldnt be more excited. You had planned on spending the night with friends and drinking until the sun came up, but then time and everyone around slowed and you didn't.

............................................................

"I still say we should have gone somewhere a little less pricey." You sighed.

Your friends pulled you along as they walked down the stairs of the nightclub. Your eyes scanned the crowd of people, smiling slightly at some of drunker groups dancing, or attempting to dance anyway.

" not paying for anything tonight, Y/N, my treat, it's your birthday after all." Sam said.

You looked over at her, shrugging a little. You had never thought much of your birthday, to you it was a pointless thing that would eventually fade into the background over the years. In truth, you just didn't want to be here, in this club with the one man who could unravel your entire life. The one man who you actively tried to keep from knowing you existed.

"I would have been fine with junk food and paintball." You muttered.

"It's your twenty-first birthday, it's the time to legally get drunk, maybe a little high, don't be such a downer." Jake laughed.

You let out an audible groan following them to the bar. Sam waved over the bartender while you leaned against the bar, watching some people dancing on the tables.

"I'm going to order the most expensive stuff here and drown in it." You muttered.

When you received no response from your friends you turned back around to face them. They were moving as if someone had recorded a video in slow motion. You stood up straight, furrowing your eyebrows in confusion. The entire club was like that, even the drinks the bartender had been pouring were falling in slowly.

"Honestly, this little trick of yours is getting rather tiresome brother."

That caught your attention, and looked around your eyes settling on the two men across the club.  You cursed and did the only thing you could think of, dropped to the ground and started crawling.

Lucifer noticed something moving a little to fast out of the corner of his eye and subtly turned his head to look for a moment. When the music resumed its normal tempo you stood and started hurrying towards the stairs. You probably would have made it to, if someone hadn't stepped in front of you.

"Going so soon darling?"

You bit your lip, looking up at the man.

"Its terrible manners to leave your friends so suddenly."

You glanced over at where they stood looking around for you.

"You're right, I really should go tell them I'm leaving."

You turned to hurry back over to them, but the man stepped in front of you yet again.

"Oh I'm sure I can have someone tell them for you, why don't we go talk somewhere, away from prying eyes?" He offered.

You felt your stomach drop and tried to think of a way out of this.

"No, that's ok really I should-"

"I insist."

The look he was giving you made it clear this wasn't up for discussion and probably wouldn't end in your favor. You forced a smile, trying not to show how truly nervous you were.

"Lead, the way Mr. Morningstar."

He seemed a bit surprised that you knew who he was, but said nothing as he led you up to his penthouse.

"So then what are you? You couldn't possibly be human, I don't think you're a demon, a changeling perhaps?"

You remained silent, watching him ramble on. Lucifer looked at you expecting an answer and when you didn't give him one he sighed. Your eyes followed him warily as he walked over to the bar in his penthouse. He poured two drinks, offering you one. You just stared at the cup, as if it would bite you if you got to close.

"It's not poisoned if that's what you're worried about." Lucifer chuckled.

You took the drink, downing it a little to fast. Lucifer raised an eyebrow but otherwise said nothing, just poured you another.

"Well then my dear, should I wait until you've drank all of my alcohol or do I get at least a vague explanation?"

You knew he would never let you leave without at least giving him something. It was best to keep your answers vague, which is exactly what you planned to do.

"An angel."

That caught his attention very quickly, and he stared at you a moment.

"That's impossible, I know all my siblings, you are not one of them. You really must learn to lie better." Lucifer scoffed.

You sighed, maybe vague answers weren't going to work.

"I'm not lying, I am an angel, my mom is Haniel."

Lucifer stared at you with a grin when you said that.

"Oh I know Haniel well, she's not one of my siblings, she was a little creation dad made, but an angel nonetheless."

You instantly regretted telling him that, he seemed even more interested in you than before and your chances of leaving any time soon were growing smaller and smaller.

"So, you're a Nephilim? Is your mother around? Or do you live with your father?"

You felt yourself grow cold, and the look on your face shocked Lucifer. It was so empty.

"Mother dearest went back to heaven. She said I was an abomination, and should have never been born. My father doesn't even know I exist."

The bitterness in your voice made him frown.

"That certainly doesn't sound like your mother, if she was talking about me I may be able to believe it but I always thought she rather liked humanity."

You gave him a dry smile.

"Oh mother humanity, and if I was a Nephilim she probably would have cared about me but I'm not a Nephilim, I'm a full-blooded angel, the horrible result of her only sin." You laughed, but it was humorless.

"Her only sin?"

Your eyes flashed red, unable to push down the anger you were feeling, the bitter taste that settled in your mouth only making your blood boil.

"She slept with you, I'm worse than a Nephilim, I'm the fucking devil's daughter, and my mother, the loyal angel of heaven could never have anything to do with me or you. Granfather wouldn't allow it, and she was only too happy to agree." You hissed venomously.

Lucifer said nothing, just stood there, to stunned to say anything. You downed the rest of your drink, falling back onto the couch. You stared at the wall, glancing over at Lucifer when you heard footsteps. He approached you slowly, as if you were a rapid dog that would attack him at any second.

"I'm not entirely sure what to say right now nor what I'm supposed to do. I don't suppose you could give me any pointers?"

You couldn't help but smile a little at his attempt to distract you from your anger.

"I apologize my dear."

You frowned sitting up to look at him.

"Why are apologizing? I'm the one who just dropped all that on you."

"Yes but I suspect I may have done something that lead you to believe you could never come to me with any of this."

You didn't say anything and Lucifer gave you a small smile, his assumption was right. He sat down beside you, and neither of you spoke for a moment.

"Listen, I don't... I mean you don't need to try to get to know me or anything like that. I'm not expecting some grand gesture or anything." You muttered.

Lucifer watched you for a moment, as you stared down at your hands, nervously playing with your nails.

"Well of course not, but I would take it personally if you did not allow me to throw you a proper birthday party."

You lifted your head to look at him in surprise, he was smiling at you kindly, and soon you found yourself smiling back.

"Ok."

He jumped to his feet, his smile growing.

"Wonderful! Of course this means we'll have to spend some more time together, parties can take so much time to plan."

You laughed as you watched him ramble on, spouting off different ideas as you watched him pace. This birthday wasn't such a disaster after all.
