Ash is at the recruitment area waiting for the result together with three other applicants for the same job when a man came down from the office of the CEO. She's silently praying that she would get the job because it's been a week and she badly wanted to get a job at this moment.
The man called the names of the three ladies she's with one by one and left her there. He ushered the ladies to follow him and she was left devastated because she is under the impression that she didn't passed the initial interview. She have that sullen expression when she heard the employees greeting the Vice President of the company as he walked inside the recruitment area and she couldn't care less about. All she's thinking is the job she wanted to have.
"Miss Vencyl Asha Dankworth?" She looked up at the person in front in of her and confusion is written all over her face.
"Yes? Can I help you with something?" Ash asked to the Vice President of the company which he just smiled before answering.
"I'm glad to inform you that you got the job. You are now the new secretary of the CEO and I would need to invite you for the job contract signing." He answered.
"But, those three--" She couldn't finish what she would want to say due to astonishment.
"They will be offered other vacant jobs. As for you, I need you to follow me." He answered before started walking away which she urgently followed.
To say that she's happy is an understatement of what she is currently feeling. Finally, she got a job already but she's kinda confused as to why the Vice President itself is the one assisting her about the contract signing, so she did asked him about it. She was simply told that their CEO is too picky that he wanted to make sure that his new secretary would be very suitable with the job.
He then explained to her the things she needed to accomplish for their boss and that there are times that he would need her assistance even after office hours which is fine with her. They are currently discussing about the terms and conditions of the contract before letting her filled out the details when she noticed her monthly salary that almost caused her eyeballs to drop on the floor. The salary is too high that it gives her pressure about her work but also gives her the motivation to do her best.
After the introductions and such, she signed the contract with a smile plastered on her face. The Vice President gets one of the copy and gave her the other one for her reference. She was told that she may start tomorrow and that he'll tour her around the company for today so she can familiarize every departments and such.
She's good at remembering things and locations, so it'll be easy for her. She bids goodbye and said her thanks when the tour ended and was given an advise before going home. Their boss is very strict that he don't want any lates and absences without prior notice and valid reasons. She was then advised that she have an 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule from Mondays to Fridays and 9:00AM to 5:00PM every Saturdays which is okay with Ash so long as the Sunday is her day off.
She went to the mall to buy some groceries and some office attire clothes to look more decent and appropriate with her job. She left her groceries first to the baggage counter before shopping her clothes and probably buy a nice pair of clothes for his baby as well.
She was trying to pick a blouse and settled to one of her choice but another hand came to get the clothes. To say that she is shocked is an understatement. She's more than shocked and most of all she's yet ready to face the person in front of her.
Her mouth remains agape as she can't find her voice plus she doesn't know what to say.
"A-Ash? Is that you?" The person in front of Ash can't seem to believe her eyes as it started to get watery.
"Gerlyka. It's been a while." Is all that Ash can say.
Gerlyka doesn't said anything instead she immediately burst into tears as she hugged her friend tightly. She can't contain her emotions and just buried her face at her chest just like a little child and Ash just caressed her friend's back.
After several minutes, Gerlyka calmed down and they then decided to go to the nearest coffee shop to talk about everything they've missed from each other's lives for the past years.
"I just can't believe that you just disappeared just like that, Ash. No phone calls, no letters and no nothing. I've been camping outside your house for months because I thought you're too lazy to come out, but you just vanished." Gerlyka said and resentment is evident from her voice. Her tears started to roll down her face again and Ash kept on wiping them as she burst into tears as well.
"I'm sorry. My apology has been long overdue, but I'd still want to say it. I'm not really ready to face you right now. Because I really don't know where to start my explanations." Ash said with frustration.
"Just tell me the truth. Everything. Starting from the night you went missing. The night when you came with me to a party." Gerlyka told her as she hold her hands and she knew that she needs to tell everything to her one and only friend.
So, she did. Ash told Gerlyka everything that had happened and during that night and the days after that night. She didn't leave any any stories behind and even told her about "her baby" which Gerlyka giggle and said she's exited to meet this man that her friend falls in love with.
