LUCIFER'S BANE

Part one of a two book series. The rules of the fallen are simple. Ten days. Ten days, you live without sin and you will be accepted back into heaven. It's just ten days, it shouldn't be that hard. Until the rules became applicable to fragile, innocent Azaliah who after an ambush, was thrown out of heaven by mistake and began her transition into a human. With her newly found emotions all over the place, the human family she lived with, a low ranked angel who swore to protect her, a mark on her shoulder that is a beacon for the darkness that ruled the earth, and her romantic feelings for the mysterious demon who helped her stay alive in exchange for his freedom, ten days suddenly felt like ten years. And with that came an epic battle for her soul as two ancient spirits came after her when the celestial world finds out that she is the weapon that can kill man and spirit's greatest enemy, Lucifer. Nb: part one mostly focuses on Lucifer as the main character. The main character for book two would be introduced towards the end of the book.

Silence. Darkness. For years, both have been my companions. No air, No life. Nothing. Except me.

I want company. A life, no two or maybe more to share my gifts with.

The darkness, the void I created to shield myself, to hide myself in twirled around me like a sand disturbed by an angry wind. I want more than the same scenery everyday. I want life.

A cackle then another before a part of the infinite darkness is covered with light, strings of light forming together to build a wall. I am still covered. I will remain hidden. Always.

One string of light is released and then another and another until as much as I want is seperated from the giant wall and is hanging on the air.

Beautiful.

The strings come together in one organized motion and then a form begins to appear.

Nothing like me but yet so beautiful.

The strings aren't enough and so others are added until the form takes a definite shape. A different shape.

I am pleased. But it's not enough.

More strings of light are released from the wall, so many to make two pairs of wings. Wings that settle perfectly on the well formed back of the figure. Wings that cackle with the same light from the wall.

Splendid.

The figure is nearly complete. From the top of the figure's head grows a different form. White and long and slowly, the white bundle pools down to the back of the figure.

Extraordinary.

Almost done. A long crooked nose, full lips, doe shaped eyes and small ears take their place on the figure's head. A still figure floats on air now. Completely formed, but still lifeless.

A bundle of light emerges from the wall and thrusts itself into the figure. Nothing is seen for a while except blinding light and then, it stopped.

The figure floats for a while, as still as calm water before it faces the wall of light. Strings of light slowly makes its way to its eyes and then in a split second, it opens.

Golden eyes. Golden irises that swirl like heat surrounding the sun.

It blinks once, twice and then releases a sigh.

It is alive.

It is beautiful.

It is...divine.

I shall call it an angel.

Perhaps I shall make a few more.

But this one...this one is special.
