Chapter one

Emma couldn't stop staring at the tall, handsome young man sitting across from her. In all her life, she had never seen a man like him before. It was a Sunday morning, and Emma was enjoying her morning coffee at her favorite spot, Café Grumpy in New York. The man noticed Emma looking at him, but he didn't approach her and eventually walked away.

After the young man walked away, Emma was left with a lot of thoughts and indecision. Part of her wanted to follow him, but she didn't want to come across as too desperate. At just 20 years old, Emma was a stunning young woman who had already accomplished so much. With a degree in Secretariat from Oxford University, she was intelligent and driven, with a sharp mind and an impressive work ethic. Despite her petite frame, her confidence and poise exuded strength and grace.

Her dark, expressive eyebrows and thick lashes framed her bright, sparkling eyes, making them even more striking. Her smooth and flawless skin had a natural radiance that hinted at her youth and vitality. Though she was short in stature, she had a commanding presence and carried herself with a sense of purpose that drew the attention of all those around her.

After finishing her coffee, Emma headed to the reception desk to pay her bill. It was already 2 o'clock and she didn't want to miss her dance training at Peridance Center. She quickly hailed a cab and made her way to the center. Upon arriving, she discovered that the dance master had already started the class. Emma quickly changed into her dance clothes and joined the training.

The dance training went smoothly and Emma mastered all the moves, executing them perfectly. However, as she was dancing, she noticed the dance instructor, a man in his forties, staring at her. Emma quickly ignored him because she knew that he had a reputation for admiring all the girls he trained, and his intentions were not genuine.

The dance training lasted for an hour, and Emma was feeling tired. She needed to rush home since the next day would be a busy one, and she had to report to work on time. She changed into her regular attire and was about to leave the dance studio when she was called back by her dance instructor, who was still in the hall.

The dance instructor had taken off his shirt, revealing his six-pack abs, and gave Emma a flirtatious look as he complimented her moves, saying "You did really well today. I was impressed." Emma seemed uninterested and replied in a hurry, "Thank you, I have a car waiting for me outside. We'll talk later." Then she quickly left the studio.

Emma worked as a secretary in the governor's office. The next day was Valentine's Day, and she needed to buy a dark red dress for her outfit. She headed to the nearest clothing store. As she walked in, she noticed that most of the clothes were very expensive, and she couldn't afford any of them. Emma began to feel disappointed since she wanted to look good for the occasion. However, she decided to browse through the store and see if there was anything she could afford.

Emma searched through the store and finally found a round, dark red hat that she could afford. As she made her way to the cashier to purchase it, she was surprised to hear a familiar voice calling out to her from behind. Emma turned slowly and couldn't believe what she saw. It was James, holding the exact dark red dress that she had been admiring. The dress looked beautiful, and Emma's heart skipped a beat at the sight of it.

James was the Governor's son, and Emma work as the secretary of his father. James is a handsome man in his mid-twenties, with a tall and athletic build. He has chiseled facial features, with a strong jawline, high cheekbones, and piercing blue eyes that seem to sparkle in the light. His hair is a shade of dark brown, cut short and styled with a side part, giving him a distinguished and refined look.

He exudes an air of confidence and charm that draws people to him effortlessly. Emma couldn't believe that such a prominent person in the city had approached her, leaving her at a loss for words. Her lips trembled as James walked closer to her and said in an appealing voice, "I believe this will fit you well. Can you try it on?"

"Yeah, it's beautiful,"

Emma said in a low, admiring voice. James gave her the dress, and Emma went to the changing room to try it on. The dress was stunning on her, hugging her curves in all the right places and accentuating her natural beauty. As she walked out of the changing room, James was awestruck by her radiance and grace. Emma looked breathtaking, and it was evident that James was already smitten with her, unable to resist her charms.

Suddenly, James complimented Emma, saying "You look wonderful."

"Wow, thank you," Emma said, blushing at James' compliment.

James then received a phone call and excused himself for a moment before returning in a rush. He spoke quickly, saying, "I don't want to pressure you, but I would be honored if you would accompany me as my date to a Valentine's Day event tomorrow. I'll arrange transportation for you to come to the Hilton Hotel at 7 pm sharp. I've already spoken to my dad, and he's agreed to give you the day off. I'll be eagerly waiting for you." James then paid for the dress and left through the back door of the store.
